Darth Kane
4.5 a season That's honestly a really good deal for Buffalo.

Darkstar
6 years @ 4.5 per. Not bad at all.
elvis15
Nick Kypreos @RealKyper #Sabres Hodgson's new 6 year #NHL deal is worth 25.5M. Cap hit of 4.5M. EDIT: Kyper corrected it to $4.25M for 6 years. Kadri and his bridge contract say hello.

Master Mind
I'm surprised he wanted a 6 year deal. What if in a couple years he's no longer the top line centre? Good for Buffalo though in getting him signed. Looks like the dominoes might be falling.

avelanch
But I thought they were fielding offers and we're having difficulty signing him and he was too much of a primadonna/wanted 6mill per.........

Tom Sestito
That isn't a bad contract... If he can improve his two way game it's a rly good deal
Dogbyte
In all honesty that's an even deal for both sides. Buffalo locks up a top prospect who turned the corner last year for 6 years at a great price if he stays in the same range or gets better. Hodgson makes a very fair deal that locks him in for 6 years. He will be paid well, not as good as he could have but it's guaranteed. Really both sides are taking a chance. Dion Phaneuf
That's a solid contract. It's still movable if Cody doesn't improve much more or if he regresses a bit. I doubt he regresses but you never know...see Tyler Myers. I think he'll build on his breakout season and become their #1C if not a respectable #2. TOMapleLaughs
Given the back, i'd take the term now over a bridge contract and then a potential bigger contract later.

SabreFan1
What's funny is, rumor has it that's what the Sabres have been offering all along. His agent was asking for more money with a long term. They got the long term but Regier stayed put on the money...
Plaguez
6 years? But, but, EVERYONE knows he's a cancer, right?? He was being shopped wasn't he? Could it be Hodgson haters talk out of their collective asses? I think 6 years at a great hit if 4.25 say yes, yes they do. Great deal for buffalo and Cody.
