Largest piece is supposed to be 78 ft. long. You can determine that by looking at satellite pictures? That's incredible.

some experts said it might be a collection of small pieces. the air france crash in atlantic a few yrs, the largest piece was no bigger than a desk.

Drifting in the current?

Or perhaps indicative of the "southern" trajectory of the plane based on the satellite pings.

This plane has to turn up somewhere sooner or later... Chances are this could finally be it. It would be a huge disappointment if these objects were found to be completely unrelated (although I'm torn to say that, since that would imply the plane had indeed crashed).

Possibly related?

Can't they find out for sure before letting the general public know?

perhaps, but they want to show that they are doing something, even if this turns out to be a wild goose chase. lots of pressure from the media and families.

The size of the pieces should give a huge clue as to what happened. A controlled landing attempt (either by a pilot or autopilot) would have minimized the impact forces on the plane, thus leaving bigger debris pieces. An extreme impact (i.e. high speed into water) or a disintigration in mid-air (from overspeed/bomb) would have a scattered debris field of tiny, tiny pieces.

It would be too bad if it is wreckage of the plane because that would mean the passengers are dead and squash the little hope that they might've been somewhere on the ground, on the other hand it would put an end to the ridiculous roller coaster that the families have been through due to all of the misinformation and the frustrating investigation led by the malaysian government.

They havent found squat until there is confirmation that this is definitely the wreckage from that plane. Lord knows theres enough crap already floating around out there.

This story is far from over.

yeah, they just said the area is part of the known garbage patch area, where lots of ocean debris go.
