"Gone where?"

Whomever will take them. Gillis should pull a Burke and dump their contracts for picks this year to move up. It's time. They will have a reasonably high pick this year, so Gillis can climb a bunch of spots. Think Buffalo wouldn't consider both Sedins for their number 1?

"he wasn't a starter last year"

Right, and how many playoff games did he win? How'd that work out for the Canucks? Schneider lost his job as Lou's backup last season to Lack.

I'm sorry the butthurt Schneider fans don't understand or appreciate what Luongo brought to the team for the past 8 years. The Canucks first made the playoffs after the lockout with Bobby Lou. The Canucks left the playoffs without him.

It's the end of an era.

Had the Canucks ridden Lou (as they should have the last two years), they'd be better off today.

LOL! We still would have lost in the first round, and we still wouldn't have made the playoffs. How would we be better of than we are now?

We got rid of most of his ridiculous contract, and we got a player back that really looks to want to play here.

Not a chance.

I'll ask the eternal question.....would you make that trade? $14M/year for 2 seriously declining players?

"Take a look at all the top players stats"

Kesler is still a solid 2nd line Centre. Higgins is up this year. Santorelli is up this year.

The Sedins are the problem. Hank might not reach 50 points this year. That's the big difference between the Canucks and the contenders. They have players who can actually produce on their top line.

So long as the Canucks have their albatross contracts, they aren't going to improve. Simple as that. Gillis can cut around the problem, but the problem won't be solved until the Canucks dump the Sedins. They have too much tied up in players that aren't able to produce anymore.

Again: The last two times in the last decade they missed the playoffs, they bounced back the next season and won the division. This was when Calgary and Edmonton weren't pushovers, and were just as good as the California teams are today.

The amount of hyperbole in this fanbase makes me sick.

Oh shut it already...Division alone we are competing with 3 TOP teams in the LEAGUE, LA/SJS/ANA, to make matters worse CHI/COL/STL are in the same conference. If you think they will suddenly bounce back to win the division against LA/SJS/ANA next year, you are in denial.

Think the Sedins waive their NTCs to go to Buffalo?
