Clippers owner Donald Sterling "don't bring black people to my games"

Wondering if the other owners are crapping their pants about what they said to their mistresses and if they're on tape.

This would be the only deterrent for an owner to vote Sterling out ... skeletons in their own closet.

All the owners know that the NBA will lose more sponsors and fans if they don't kick Sterling out of the league. Especially when the commissioner has already said that he is confident the owners will vote for the NBA and kick him out. Could you imagine the backlash against the NBA if this doesn't happen?

Bottom line is, if he wasn't banned and having to sell his team.

-Would overshadow NBA playoffs, Clippers lose because of it? Or if Clippers keep moving on, its going to stick around during their run.

-Players were ready to boycott games

-I'm sure many Clippers players would not return next season

-Would continue to tarnish the NBA's image, this was a move to stop the bleeding and restore faith with players and fans

The NBA could not've put a bandaid on this situation. That is like trying to put a bandaid on the Three Gorges Dam. This needed amputation instead of a bandaid.

Amazing how a side chick can take down an entire NBA organization

......or a Presidency? Monica Lewinsky's dress says...Hi!

Without these recordings...or without Ms. Lewinsky's dress, things may have turned-out... different. But for a surety.....there were groups of people out to entrap both of these men of power. Stings were afoot....for various reasons. At least Sterling hasn't denied much... as an old geezer on the brink of senility. Just let him fade away...pleazzze! But , all of this hulla-baloo,...is bordering upon the riduculous.

This situation reminds me more & more of the very sad & final days of legendary football coach, Joe Paterno....where a lapse in judgment or character at a very crucial time...tore down this elderly & dying man's world & eradicated his legacy of acccomplishments....built-up over his extra-ordinary life-time. Go on... try & feel really, really, good about that.

Rest in peace, Joe! I for one will resist the ugly urge to kick a half-senile & 81 year-old, Donald Sterling, on his way out of life. But the rest of you can do whatever floats your boat - if it's still a free society to say or believe what you like in private & all...or is it?

Don't you mean Joe Paterno? Who is Lou?

LOL...ya I did. Thanks, for the correction. I'm obviously not as big of an American football, basketball, or baseball fan,....as I am of hockey...in Canada, the NHL & in the international leagues. More vikings play hockey!

Those other North American sports barely register in Scandinavia. I do follow the CFL tho' & the Whitecaps & other soccer leagues around the world, too. So thanks! That Jim Sandusky/ Joe Paterno scandal registered with me...'cuz it went everywhere in the news & was just as viral.

According to TSN, here are all the vultures circling the carcass - http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=450889:

LOS ANGELES -- If Donald Sterling is compelled to sell the Los Angeles Clippers, the list of potential buyers will have more stars than the team's roster.

Oprah Winfrey leads the list of wealthy luminaries who announced their interest in purchasing the club shortly after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the league for life.

Winfrey's spokesperson confirmed Wednesday she is already in discussions with record-label mogul David Geffen and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison to pool their vast resources for a bid.

They won't be alone, either. Music mogul Sean Combs tweeted his interest in going after the Clippers, and boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to form a group to buy the team.

Celebrities ranging from Matt Damon to Oscar De La Hoya expressed interest in joining an ownership group.

Of course, Magic Johnson, the one in the photo with mistress wants in as well.

I can't really believe you defend these people. On one hand, you have a sexual predator who likes to touch boys in a sexual way while on the other hand you have a racist guy that thinks it is still 1940. It shouldn't matter whether they are 81 or 51 or 21, because they have done wrong things throughout their history. Now they just got caught in the act and we should feel sorry for them since they are old?

Then we have NHL that has to beg people to buy one of their teams. It just shows how popular NBA is compared to NHL.

There definitely is more on going conversation than that. Did you listen to the whole tape or just a snippet?

No I listened to the whole thing.

He is definitely a racist but I swear he is simply jealous that his girlfriend is parading around with Magic Johnson and doesnt want to admit it so he tries to blame it on race for some weird reason.

One of the weak spots in your conspiracy theory is you forgot the fact that all the sponsorships that were lost due to this ordeal. The team might be cheaper because the value is lower now. There has been negative press surrounding the Clippers and you might not get some of the sponsors back. Lots of time is also needed for healing and for the public to trust the Clippers brand again.

So you pay a cheaper price for a product that has been tainted.

you pay a cheaper price for a product that now has nothing to do with that old racist fart. An image and revenue rebuild could be as easy as Magic. Or some other high profile "good guy".

Right now it is still the Donald Sterling basketball team. He hasn't sold the team yet, and who knows how long it will take. As I mentioned before, the partners and sponsors have already pulled out and will be waiting to see the changes before they go back to being partners. So the value of the team has took a hit because of that fact. It will still take time after the team being sold to a new owner to get everything back to normal. It has been a bad PR for both the league and the Clippers team.

He was born and raised in an age of segregation guys. He was literally old enough to see blacks sit in the back of the bus and see blacks drink from seperate fountaind. He was raised to view blacks a certain way and he still feels that way about them. Is he not allowed to speak his mind in his own home? People need to break this down and realize that what he said wasn't even that bad.. He just made it clear that he isn't too fond of black people. Welcome to the internet folks! If you're offended by this, you should probably stay away from the internet.

He's saying that to someone who's half black though. He's lucky she didn't castrate him in his sleep.

She obviously doesn't understand the concept of gold digging haha. All he asked for was to keep black people away from the game and she couldn't do that

his girlfriend set him up

Considering his ex is a mix of Black/Hispanic wouldn't you think that was a pretty stupid thing to say regardless if she was recording him or not? I don't like gold-diggers, but clearly Sterling has a screw loose.

You have the internet and yet you've done nothing to look up his past actions. Your comments are clearly showing how little you know about Sterling and what kind of person he was. Welcome to the internet yourself, because you still don't know how to use it properly.

Wow. Just heard the audio recording, way too much overreaction. There are stupid people like this rampant in society, especially people around Sterling's age. It's not that it should be acceptable, but this was way overblown by people far too eager to simply rid of a disliked owner. A simple fine or short suspension would have been justifiable, not this insanity. If anything, he was far more pissed off about his gf acting like a slut on instagram than caring about race, look at all the pictures of her hanging all over celebrities at basketball games. He's old, clearly lives in a time where most people don't think like him, doesn't really understand the internet, and said obviously stupid things.. his (ex) gf just might be breaking California law and make him an even richer man out of this.

Times like this are excellent to educate people, not to go flip-out crazy. There's no learning anything positive from the way people reacted.

That doesn't excuse him of his racist opinions and views. IT was a private conversation but now it is public. So everyone already knows his opinions and views and nothing can be done about it.
