[Proposal] Sign Cammalleri, Boyle, and Salo

Recommended Posts

If the Canucks are going to re-tool and try to get back into the playoffs next season, they should bring in a guy like Mike Cammalleri (4 years @ $5.5M) to play on a line with Ryan Kesler. Since San Jose won't be re-signing Dan Boyle, the Canucks should offer him a 1-year deal worth $5.5 million and re-acquire Sami Salo to a 1-year deal to play with Alex Edler.

Daniel Sedin (7.0M) - Henrik Sedin (7.0M) - Zack Kassian (1.5M)

Mike Cammalleri (5.5M) - Ryan Kesler (5.0M) - Alex Burrows (4.5M)

Chris Higgins (2.5M) - Brad Richardson (1.15M) - Jannik Hansen (2.5M)

Tom Sestito (0.75M) - Bo Horvat (0.895M) - Shawn Matthias ( 1.175M)

Dan Boyle (5.5M) - Kevin Bieksa (4.6M)

Jason Garrison (4.6M) - Dan Hamhuis (4.5M)

So u want Cammy for 4 years?

Where did Tanev go?

Sign Cammalleri to 3 or 4 years. He's only 31 and will be 35 once his contract is done.

Tanev can be our 7th D-man. It's difficult not to pass up on signing Dan Boyle and bringing back Salo.

It's hard to take your proposal seriously when you write things like that.

Tanev may be our 2nd best d-man, and you want him to be our 7th d-man? Wow... This kid is amazing. Salo and Boyle are awesome, but washed up old guys. We need a youth movement, not to stunt the growth of the youth. I hate everything about this proposal...Even Cammy signing. Cammy is nothing like what he was 7 or so years ago when he was scoring 30 goals. 4 year of Cammy will hurt the growth of guys like Jensen and Shinkaruk. Awful idea.

Boyle imo is no longer worth signing especially with the Canucks blueline being deep enough as it is. Age has really caught up with him and he did not have a good year. He is a shadow of the elite puck moving defenseman that he used to be. You are better off with a Stanton/Corrado taking that spot.

It's hard to take any proposal seriously when people have Horvat on the 4th line

Although I don't necessarily disagree with you, remember that Kesler started as a 4th liner. So Bo starting on the 4th line isn't that ridiculous.

Tanev isn't even a 3rd pairing anymore. He's come a long way and is a core part of our defence. He's not a spare part.....

Horvat on the 4th LOL he will be on the 3rd line. With everyone getting hurt and getting surgery you rly want Horvat or best prospect playing against the toughest and hardest hitting guys in the league. makes sense and risking him getting a concussion??

This approach only turns us into the Calgary Flames even faster. This team needs a youth movement far more than it needs more band-aids on broken legs. Even if that means peeling away some of the core to get younger, faster, hungrier players and prospects/picks back in return.

If we are going to bring in some high priced free agent go for a guy like Stastny over a guy like Cammeleri. But I am not sure moves like that are the way we should go this season tbh.

No more old vet signings as they are winding down there career... We don't need to become the flames holding on to a core that's expired and adding old vets that we hope preform in some way like they used to 5 years ago

Sure everything but...

Only sign Cammalleri to two years. Then also sign iggy to two years.

Scratch signing salo, he's old and washed up, Dont sign Boyle, Keep tanev in the top 4. Then Trade Edler and Burrows for Spezza + and then were talking.

Gives our youth and future picks time to develop in the AHL

Maybe I added it up wrong, but with Tanev in the mix you're already at $70.5M and you are still short two players on the roster.

If they don't buyout Booth (which is possible because he only has one year left anyways) then you are way over the projected cap.

That 2nd line would be horrible. They'd never pass to each other, they'd always shoot.

Also, nice to see Canucks put their top prospect on the 4th line, because that's standard. I'd swap Horvat & Richardson if I am going to take this seriously.

The D.... What the hell? First, Boyle (and probably Cammalleri for the same reason) is not going to come here, no one sees Vancouver as a competitor anymore, not after last year. Second, I'd rather have Tanev than everyone on that D core, except Hamhuis and Edler if he gets his **** together. If anything, the money would be better spent on a goalie. Third, why does the top paring have two righties and the second has two lefties?

Also, that team would still be out-skilled by the Hawks and out-muscled by the Bruins.

Tanev is amazing pure offense and his grittiness is on par with scott stevens hes def our best dman notttt actually hes very overrated

Watch benning package him in a deal before the draft corrado will be our 6th dman next yr book it

Yeah, let's just load the point with offensive D-man...

You have said many things that have boggled the mind, but this one may just take the cake.

I think Tanev is better than both of those players.

Dan Boyle is not the same player anymore and neither is Salo.
