How deep is our prospect pool now?

For those of us that don't know; where do we rank in terms of our prospects after today? Are any considered blue chippers? Including the likes of Shinkaruk, Horvat, Jensen (hasn't played a whole lot in NHL) and Gaunce.

Virtanen : projects to be a first or second line winger with "the total package" in terms of size, speed and goals scoring ability.

McCann: Two way player. Smart defensively, offensive upside. But is he for sure a blue chip prospect?

Shinkaruk: decent season although some say he took a step back as point totals declined a bit.

Horvat: Blue chipper who should at minimum be playing on our second line in the next couple years.

Gaunce: haven't heard much about him?

Jensen: Looked great at times during stint with us in NHL.

Shroeder: bust ?

Shinkaruk - Horvat - Kassian

Virtanen - Gaunce - Jensen

Fox - McCann - Grenier

not a stupid future lineup thing, but those are our top three prospects in each position imo. three boom/bust players on the left side. three middle six centers. some huge players on the right side.

Who knows? Maybe we get a steal of a pick in the later rounds that develops into a number 1 centre in the future. Or maybe we already have him. Who knows? Maybe McCann or Horvat really just go through the roof with their development. Ya never know.

Horvat will be a third liner and at best a solid two-way second liner.

Not sure if Gaunce can skate well enough to gain full-time NHL employment. Shink looked good in pre-season but again the jury is out on whether longer term he can stick in the NHL.

I'm still not sure what we have in Jensen.

Schroeder will struggle to stay in the NHL.

So is our prospect pool deep enough? Well, we have some good two-way hockey players now and in Virtanen a potential stud power forward. But otherwise we still lack any game-changers and no other high end prospects to speak of.

The prospect cupboard is certainly better than what is was a couple of years ago, but given how completely empty it was, that's not saying a whole lot. But no, it's still not very deep.

Wouldn't say that by any means. Defense is poor but lots of depth all around.

Defense is weak. Other than Corrado none have potential to be better than a #4.

For LW we have Shinkaruk, Kenins, Archibald, Zalewski, Blomstarnd, Fox. Shinkaruk only one with top 6 potential, maybe Fox.

For RW we have jensen, and Grenier.

Our prospect pool has improved but its still very weak compared to other teams

Cederholm will be top 4 imo. Hutton looks promising as well. But yeah still weak...

Dane Fox, Erie Otters: 67 games, 64 goals, 43 assists, plus 46. He's 20 years old, too.

That's not too shabby! Those match S. Reinhart stats, and it didn't cost them anything to land him.

Cassels had a good year, too, as did Suban. Then there's Horvat.

These guys show up to camp and impress, could be a couple vets in danger of being moved.

I think I read that Schroeder won't be getting an offer sheet.
