insomniac604
Not tall? Mathias is around 6'4"Correct. I was looking at stats outside of Canucks.com which had the wrong info. I thought it looked off. Statement still stands

insomniac604
Matthias played great tonight need more of that from himPlaying great in 1 game out of 9, against a terrible team, isn't saying much. Richardson and Vey are battling for the C spots. Matthias doesn't work very well as a winger.Shipping him elsewhere would not only net a return, but would provide him with a better opportunity. He had the chance last year and didn't take it. So far, hasn't shown enough this year.Best to trade him for something than lose him for nothing

D-Money
That was a great game from both Matthias and Richardson - both of whom were struggling. But Matthias better keep it up.

sockeye
Matthias and the rest of the third line had a very good game. Both he and Kass made the power forward move and drove hard to the net. If he keeps that up he won't be going anywhere. Those are two big wingers on that third line. We need size. We're going to need it once we have our games against the other Pacific coast teams. sinphase
Matthias had a strong game against Carolina tonight. Good for him. His trade value should increase. We can keep Richardson and bring a prospect in.
Twilight Sparkle
matthias is doing fine. it'll be his first full season with this team, and he's working to stay in the line up. this canes game was finally the first game of the season i was able to watch in full, because of work, and this was a great game from him. i can't speak on any other game so far this season, but if he brings the work ethic like he did tonight, he'd be a great 3rd line guy, but can be moved to the 2nd line roll, just in case burrows or higgins goes down/stops producing (it looks like bonino's a lock for that position)
Mathew Barzal
Anyone think that Mathias would make a badass d-man. We all know he can skate, he could convert to a d-man to become a Chara/ Karlson hybrid. Honestly, now that you mention it he's really similar to Jay Bo in his skating style. viking mama
He'll be a force and get more of an opportunity when the injuries start happening. Depth is a good thing. For those who like him better than Vey,...the best players are versatile & defensively responsible players. Both centres are being asked to play the wing position. It will make them the perfect fixes for those lines with missing bodies, as the season roles along. Embrace it! Kes, Higgy & Burr became a better players doing the 'plug' thing,...it's all good. Stay the course.
OrrFour
It's nine games into the season for crissake!! He had about 15 games with us last year too. His play has been mediocre and instead of getting better he's getting worse.
OrrFour
Tonight he iced the puck, then played poor defence, so the habs scored to get back in the game.

balderdash
  I didn't forget. Neither makes up for his bonehead icing play.  Unfair - it would have been a bonehead play if he didn't know what he was doing but you could see he tried to soft touch it, unfortunately the adrenaline and the puck got on a bit of a roll. Not bonehead but unfortunate.
homersexual
Noted goal scorer John Scott of SJS has 1 goal in 5 games. Matthias has 0 goals in 10 games. Matthias has speed and size, he just doesn't use it as often as he probably should.

Matt_T83
To the OP: not really. Matthias is a solid 4th liner or iffy/unproven third liner. He has upside, but is unfulfilled to date. I will say...WD should cut back the 2nd line's TOI, and distribute the bottom 9 ice time a bit more evenly. Thats about it. Did you watch any of the games with him on the 4th line??? I agree with you in theory -- she should be a solid 4th liner. Problem is the guy was -4 or -5 on the 4th line, and played like garbage. He's stated numerous times he wasn't happy with his ice time in Florida, and he's not happy with his ice time here either. Unfortunately, Matthias isn't a good 4th liner in practice, because he plays like he doesn't want to be there (and not in a good way).
