First human head transplant could happen in two years.

This is kinda scary to thoroughly think about. Like, consider if this type of surgery is easy to do sometime in the future. What would it like having your head, face, and mind being transplanted on to another human flesh vehicle. Imagine a man's head is transplanted onto a female body. Is that even you? Will your male mind operate as smoothly in the opposite sexes' body? Does flesh and blood really mean anything? Or is it just friendly spirits piloting different flesh wagons interacting with each other and spreading love and positivity. Is that all that really matter? Being nice, good, and spreading love instead of fear. WTF IS CONSCIOUSNESS MAN!!!1 The singularity and stuffs duuuuude.

This is all kinds of wrong. Imagine transplanting your head onto a body of the opposite sex, or someone a different age, like you'd have a head of a 30 year old on a body of a 15 year old. Imagine the shock the body and brain would have.

Not to mention genetic differences to thought patterns and such. Messing with the original design of life doesn't seem to work very often. Maybe organ transplants have , but this goes to far

its bound for failure. when the head is decapicated it's pretty much dead. nothing can change it.

When the Wright brothers had a dream to take flight. Most told them they were bound for failure. The reality is, whether this is able to happen in 2 years, 10 years, or a 100 years. Science and technology are headed in these kinds of directions. Innovation such as this is evolving exponentially. There's no stopping it.

Eventually, when we know everything there is to know, science will have stopped its own progress.

This is pretty neat; however I cannot imagine the feeling of having a different body.

Just seems kind of impossible. Doesn't the brain die after few minutes without oxygen? Aside from that issue is the fusing of the spinal cord and nerves along with blood vessels. It seems to have a high failure rate unless they can somehow keep the brain alive during the whole process by somehow providing oxygen to it. Also the other fact is that the whole thing could fail due to rejection of the transplant by the body. If this was ever successful, this would be the most important leap and innovation in mankind history. It would be more important than the moon landing because we could basically change a person's life.

The same could be said for heart transplants years ago.

A heart is just another organ but transplanting a head is a different story. The issue of compatibility comes to mind, figuring out how a brain from one person could control motor movement of another person's body. A heart is like a pump but transplanting a head is like changing a Honda civic's motor with a Lambourghini motor.

There are already ways to change people's lives

Nice. Dibs on mcdavids body

The jokes on you...McDavid's head is the part that brings his hockey skill set in display since that is where he controls his motor function and his hockey IQ. I'd rather see McDavid's head on the body of Kassian or Getzlaf. He would be like Malkin but 10X better.

I haven't had a chance to read into this at all, but I am a little skeptical.

Medicine has not been able to rejoin two ends of a damaged spinal cord, nevermind re-attaching all the cranial and peripheral nerves that would be destroyed by removing an entire head and replacing it with another.

Or are they just talking about switching brains? Either way, I'm sure you'd have the same problem.
