Tony Romo
Bonino + lack for Oshie + Blues 2nd round pick. Works for both teams and is pretty fair imo.How is that fair? Would you do Horvat for berglund and a 2nd? Thats how I see your proposal flip flopped. Nick Bonino would get us nothing if he is the centrepiece of a deal lol
Tony Romo
If they are willing to deal Schwartz I would let them have their pick of players with exception to Horvat and Virtanen. Those 2 are the only players they would consider for Schwartz. Even then if we offered Bo and jake I wouldn't do it if I were them.
tyhee
Backes would cost too much. Oshie the same probably. I agree. Good, established players whose contracts aren't deadweight aren't going to come as bargains. I doubt St Louis would be offering Berglund for anything approaching a bargain price either. aqua59
According to Pierre LeBrun: The St. Louis Blues are one of the more intriguing teams to keep an eye on over the next few weeks. Utterly disappointed with another playoff failure, change is in the offing within their core roster if there’s a deal that makes sense. Word is the Blues would like to move apples for apples in any deal, which is a very difficult thing to do in the cap system, particularly in a summer when so many teams are looking to shed salary, not add any. But if there’s a deal out there that makes sense, word from rival executives is that the Blues are more open-minded than ever to move one of their long-standing core guys, whether that’s David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Patrik Berglund or other veterans. It’s a delicate proposition in the sense that the Blues, by bringing back head coach Ken Hitchcock for one more season, are signaling that they’re taking another run at it and why oddsmakers have listed them as a top-five contender for next season. But in in a perfect world, the Blues would like to return with a new face or two among their core. Backes enters the final season of his deal, which is why you hear his name out there. It’s the perfect time to move him for value. But they could easily keep him too, given how difficult he would be to replace. Again, depends on what the Blues are being offered. What the Blues won’t do, in my opinion, is force a trade just for the sake of appeasing their fans who want change because of the disappointing playoffs. GM Doug Armstrong is a shrewd hockey man. I think he’s seen teams in this position -- so desperate to get over the hump -- make their worst trades. So yes, the Blues are open for business, but it has to be logical, it has to make them better. Otherwise, they might just stand pat. http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/38529/rumblings-blues-open-to-moving-backes-oshie-berglund I watched a lot of Blues hockey this season. The one thing I noticed particularly with Oshie, is he has no finish. He doesn't skate that fast either. Backes seems to have slowed too. Ohsie would be tempting for Benning but I don't think he'll go for it.
Bass_Solo
Bonino and lack wouldn't get you oshie alone. I would disagree. We might need to throw in a prospect or a late draft pick, but Oshie isn't that much more valuable then Bones. First of all, centers are always more coveted, and Bonino is a more defensively sound player. Bonino is a year younger and comes at a 2.8 million dollar savings. Also, over the last couple years Bonino has been within 10-15 points of Oshie while playing with linemates of lower caliber. While I don't think Bonino is worth Oshie straight across, I think Lack is also worth more then the Blues high second round draft pick. Really, it's not far off, even if we have to throw in another chip. It depends on the direction the Blues are going.

Oshie is definitely overrated, and of course CDC underrates a guy like Nick Bonino. Might be cool to have a guy like Oshie show Virtanen the ropes. Don't they play a similar type game? McBackup
I'd love to see the Canucks nab Oshie, but I don't like what we'd have to give up.
alfstonker
like 4 years ago maybe He is not a prolific scorer. Mason Raymond scored more than he did. We have enough guys like that. At least Backes hits the netting regularly.
