thejazz97
As per theScore (link: http://www.thescore.com/news/787761), Buffalo is looking for a veteran LHD and looks to trade. VAN: Hamhuis Vey rights BUF: 2016 1st 2016 5th 2016 7th (MTL) Marcus Foligno We'd gain capspace, a roster spot for a young defenseman, and a grinder who can take Higgins' place. Rex425
Wouldn't be bad, but we may get more from other teams that could value Hamhuis highly.

It is goofs like you that really turn this place into a circus. Hamhuis is our best defensive D man hands down. Get winning a cup out of your head it aint happening for a while. Neymar
do you think buff's 2016 1st could be in the top
thejazz97
do you think buff's 2016 1st could be in the top 5 Maybe. They could make the playoffs with Hamhuis and Bogosian as their top 2, then again, Lehner could bust again. It's a tossup.

If winning a Cup isn't happening for a while then why keep Hamhuis around if he won't be contributing to a Cup win in the future anyways?

Mr.DirtyDangles
That would be Edler, Dangles. Edler is pretty dam good but I trust Hammer in our own zone way more than Edler. Hamhuis is our best defensive d man imho.
Junkyard Dog
because trading hamhuis away for garbage is really going to help us in the long run. Hamhuis would defenitely get a 1st+ Teams overpay for defenseman during the regular season trying to make a push and I really, and I mean REALLY, don't see how stocking up on picks and young assets hurts us in the long run. That was a pretty senseless statement.

That was a pretty senseless statement. There has to be some players that are kept. Ones that are solid and predictable. Players to mentor the younger ones and Hamhuis is by far the best candidate for that. Do you want to have a Defense like EDM has had for the last eon ? We need to get younger defensively not older. Hamhuis is an upcoming UFA who we will potentially see walk for nothing if we keep him. So what would be the point in keeping him? He wants to play a chance at the cup no? Rather trade him for young assets which would benefit us a lot more than keeping him to be a veteran presence Trade Hamhuis, Bieksa and Vrbata and we would get a small fortune of youth and picks moving forward. THAT is what we need.
Phil_314
I'd do it, but would want Jim to push to get Jake McCabe as part of the return, instead of Marcus Foligno. We're good for wingers, but Jake's a solid D-man with mobility and physicality, and he's a solid building block. Agreed also with trading Vey if we won't re-sign him, and at this point it's the right kind of move to make.

Hamhuis is UFA this year and won't be back one way or the other. A first in return is what's he's worth and anything we get beyond that is a bonus. By sea and land
Every time I see any international hockey Hamhuis and Sid are buddy buddies. Pitts is losing Ehrhoff and Martin this year. Perhaps this is a better deadline deal? Hamhuis for a 1st to Pitts? I think he'd waive to go there. Radim for a 1st somewhere? Burrows for a 2nd somewhere? The full rebuild WILL happen this trade deadline and draft IF we're struggling and missing the playoffs.

I'd just hope that the pick would be in the top 10-15. Suppose to be a deep draft again. Wouldn't mind seeing the Canucks get into the top half of the first round.
