Karl Alzner has signed a one year contract with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, worth $4.5M.

@Nail

Thanks Monty.

Pleased to add the veteran Alzner to our young blue line. He will act in a mentoring role alongside Danny Dekeyser, the rest of our defensive core is still RFA aged.

Obviously interest in Karl wasn't as high as he probably hoped, we are pleased to give him a 1 year shot to hopefully earn a long term contract next summer. This contract will also make sure that we stay above the cap floor and that we have some more wiggle room should we decide to make more trades next season.

The Kings welcome Luke and Michael to the fold. We are very happy to be adding them to the organization, at such affordable cap hits.

These signings may seem to be of little consequence, but they will provide valuable depth. Both players are likely to get decent minutes this season, with the state of the D-cores of their RL teams (Detroit and New Jersey). Now the Kings' D is set:

Orlov - Letang

Lindell - Girardi

Orpik - Gryba

Witkowski, Hunt

Mironov, Kapla, Prow, DeSimone, Pedrie

With only 4 NHL D-men signed going forward at the end of the 2016-17 season, filling out the defense was LA's main goal of free agency. Although it's not necessarily tops in the league, it's still quite solid, and we didn't have to give out bad contracts or picks to fill it out.

With these signings, the Kings' offseason makeover is likely complete (if Mike Fisher decides to return, that will seal it).

Jason Chimera has signed a one year contract with the Los Angeles Kings, worth $2.25M.

Kings are happy to bring Chimera back to the team. He had been a solid contributor for the last 2 years (even after a very slow start, put up 208 pool points last season), but due to roster and cap constraints we were unable to extend him prior to free agency. But when Mike Fisher's retirement became a real possibility, signing him became our #1 back-up plan. Fortunately no one snapped him up while Fisher was taking his sweet time.

This move frees up some additional cap space. So send a PM if you're looking for a cap-saving move.
