We would be reluctant to deal him but feel we may be close to something. With that said, would like to see the market for him before making any final decisions. While I think I won in Battlefront last night, I’m convinced you win this trade; at least, in the short term. While it’s inevitable that the Leafs are making the playoffs this year, the Flames are not a lock. So it’s very possible I’m losing playoff points in this trade. However, it’s clear this is a “all in” year for you. While for me, this is a trade made for the future. And while losing Marleau isn’t ideal, I’m hoping that with Andreas Johnsson’s dominant play in the AHL lately, that he’ll see himself on the Leafs roster soon. I don't believe I'll be able to re-sign Marleau. But this deal gives me some flexibility going forward, particularly for 2019-20, when I have some big extensions to work out. And after adding Backlund, and already having Rittich, I felt I was a bit heavy on Flames. We'll see how the trade goes... ...But I totally won in Battlefront last night.
