If anything we should try to take on Orpiks contract from Washington and get an asset from them in return. Only one year left on Orpiks deal too so we can try to swing a deal with him at trade deadline. I'm afraid Vegas might beat us to the deal though.

Who is that tough young dman they have?  Maybe we could swing a deal that gets us that young guy, while we take on Orpik?  Would they want Goldobin or Hutton?

McKenzie's estimate of Carlson's next contract.

so this here is what freaks me out - is he really going to be worth 8 mil at 35? I also think he'll be headed to a contending team.

The Sedins aren't coming back for one million...

thats interesting and far more likely imo, since WSH will have to move a contract.

how many of those guys are both upgrades on who we have, AND worth overpaying for? I just don't see the need for more middle- pairing D.

then they dont care about winning and we move on its simple really  still think carlson is a good target for our dcorp

The Sedins have proven they are good scorers in second line roles. We aren't about to land any big free agents this summer and both of them just had 50 point seasons. I'd say 4-4.5 mill would be a more realistic paycut for them.

The Canucks won't be cup contenders next year, too early to even suggest that's a reasonable expectation. If they were, I could see the Sedins coming back at 3 million but that's probably the biggest paycut they'll take. Have to remember that they're the standard leaders on this team and provide experience that young players don't have.

It's a great question that awaits 2 things:

- Sedins' decision

- all the crazy swapping/deals at the draft

I wonder how many of those there will really be... maybe in the 20-31st overall range? Can't see any team giving up a top 10 this year.

I heard NYI's will win the 1st OA, then pkg it with Barzal & Bellows to EDM for Connor McNugget.(can't reveal source!)
