Another scary thing too is. If we had a Canuck era Luongo or Schneider right now. We'd probably not be complaining about the defense as much.

No we'd complaining about Luongo... we will never be truly happy...

Man  the 650 radio station is insufferable.

Just a bunch of apologists.

The Canucks are the only team right now with a 1-8-1 record in their last ten. EVERY other team is winning more.

Nobody expected this team to be contenders. But dead last with no hope of winning? Come on.

"But they are good 5 on 5"

Special teams are part of the game. If you don't kill your penalties (after taking a bunch of bonehead penalties) you lose. Sorry.

What's insufferable is people like you proving you can't handle a rebuild. Why would you even care if we are dead last with no hope of winning? Like you said we aren't contenders, so these results should be favourable. We are poised to get another top pick, which is absolutely what we need.

Why? We aren't supposed to be good this year. Nothing should really change this season.

Ya but that's not what JB told owners. Linden got fired because him and JB sold different paths to owners.

1 win 13 games everyone's ass is on the line in mgmt.

I keep wondering why Benning is spending a lot on bottom pairing D and bottom 6 forwards? I mean, we don't have anyone in the AHL that could fill those spots that we need to sign players like schaller, Beagle, Roussel etc. If we combine those salaries, we could've had a james neal or maybe a skinner or some other top 6 forward to complement horvat or EP. Problem is Benning is probably thinking that we can draft all the top 6 forward and all the top pairing D when in reality thats not how you build a team. You draft star players but you sign or do trades to supplement that. Not just to throw cap money on guys who are great on the 4th line. Look at how Toronto has depth, to the point that their 4th liner is being used on our top line.

He isn't spending a lot on bottom pairing defenseman. We have those guys because the prospects aren't ready. What part of that is so hard to understand? Why the hell would we waste money on Neal? So you can whine and cry about him when he isn't living up to his salary like in Calgary? The only reason we would throw big money for top 6 UFAs would be because we think we are contenders. We aren't.

Toronto has been garbage for over a god damned decade. They had to build up their depth. It didn't just magically appear overnight.

Buff, WPG, TOR all look to be doing ok in the standings for their tickets.

Winnipeg leapfrogged us and Edmonton. Toronto and Buffalo are the ONLY teams so far who finished bottom three that won lottery picks. Every other lottery pick went to someone who finished outside of the bottom three. In other words, it takes a lot of luck, which you love to ignore for some reason.

What a load of crap. You do remember before the season started that Aquilini finally admitted we were rebuilding, right? If Benning is fired now, Aquilini looks like a hypocrite.

The SPECULATION was that Linden thought that we needed to rebuild for a longer period of time than what Aquilini/Benning believe, not for simply suggesting a rebuild.

They were garbage for that long because they kept signing older free agents and trading draft picks to try and stay competitive...It wasn't until they went fully scorched earth that things finally started to turn around.  Riddle me that?

It still didn't happen over night, genius. Good job at failing to even counter my point.

It was not speculation. It was widely reported.

Any ways 1 win in 13 games

If this continues he's gone.  Let's see what happens.

Umm, yes, it was speculation. Nothing has actually been confirmed.

If Benning is gone at any point this year, then fans should start demanding Aquilini be gone, too, because he will prove that he doesn't have a patience for a rebuild, and we will continue to suck.

Scorched earth?  They won the lottery and made the playoffs 2 seasons later, and they signed players to one year contracts, sold them for draft picks and now their farm system is loaded.  Yeah it's not literally overnight but in hockey terms..pretty damn quick

It still took some luck with the draft lottery win. They could have just as easily been like Colarado and dropped down to fourth and picked Pulijujarvi.

Dude. You need to have your blood pressure pills.

You're gonna have a heart attack over a hockey discussion on a forum.

1 win 12 losses in last 13. If canucks only have 4 wins in next 48 games he's gone.

Come back to me if this continues and he doesn't get fired. . Until then bye

Gotta love reading through CDC during a team crisis....

I support Green and the rebuild it is what it is. This city has never taken rebuilds lightly in the 70s, 80s, to the late 90s when we lose we just huff an puff.

In the 80s the team was almost relocated because they could only get 10 thousands fans into a game in a 18 thousand seat stadium at the Pacific Coliseum. Pat Quinn is a big part why we get to watch Canucks, EP, Brock, Bo, etc today.

But I do sometimes wonder what could Crow or Alain with these stars.. would they do anything differently. Crow came in during rebuild so did Alain both produced exciting hockey. I honestly feel like Nolan is weighing Green down from truly being great..

Our defence is absolute trash, but that shouldn’t be a surprise. Hate to say it but Horvat and Boeser need a kick in the ass, time to start playing.

Let's not turn a blind eye to ALL EP's giveaways or is he out of bounds? If we keep giving the puck away we are pressuring our own D.

EP is top of the roster for giveaways Bo is second. These guys are NOT defenders but these giveaways are hurting us. It's not fare always blaming the D when 4 of our top five worst players for giveaways are our young forwards. (EP, Bo, Goldy and Brock) The fifth is Tanev, who's game has got back this season.

On a brighter note I was very impressed with Gaudette. It would be a travesty if he were sent down. Leivo too had an impressive debut and Nilsson was once more nearer to a first choice goalie than Markstrom - surprisingly.
