Popular Post Time Lord
Western Conference Quarterfinals Preview #1 Nashville Predators vs #8 Colorado Avalanche: The Predators are the clear favourite here. They won the President's Trophy with 126 points, 29 more than the Avalanche. They led the league in goals for and had the 2nd least goals against. Brad Richards and Paul Kariya finished top 8 in points, and every member of their top 6 had at least 63 points. Tomas Kaberle and Marek Zidlicky were both in the top 5 for points by defensemen. There is likely too much firepower on this team for the Avalanche to handle especially with a mediocre starting goaltender in Peter Budaj and a weak penalty kill to match Nashville's strong powerplay. They have some notable offensive players themselves, such as Milan Hejduk and Joe Sakic, but it won't be easy for them to score past a top goalie in Tomas Vokoun supported by a strong blueline. Prediction: Nashville wins the series in 4 games #2 Calgary Flames vs #7 Detroit Red Wings: For the most part, these teams are quite similar. Both are led by 2 star players on offense (Iginla and Tanguay, Datsyuk and Zetterberg), both have a fairly strong top 6, a few very good defensemen, and a lack of depth. Calgary's biggest advantage is goaltending. Miikka Kiprusoff had the 2nd highest save percentage in the league this season, whereas Manny Legace is just a serviceable starter. Prediction: Calgary wins the series in 6 games #3 Anaheim Ducks vs #6 Dallas Stars: The Ducks finished 12 points ahead of Stars, with a slight edge in every statistic except the powerplay. Both teams have excellent goalies, although once again the Ducks have the slight edge with J-S Giguere over Marty Turco. Justin Williams, who was acquired in a trade, leads the Ducks in points with 87, and Mike Ribeiro leads the Stars with 88. The Stars have the edge in secondary scoring, but the Ducks have better depth, with every forward on the team having 20 or more points. Scott Niedermayer leads the Ducks on defense while Sergei Zubov leads the blueline of the Stars. Both have had tremendous seasons logging big minutes for their respective clubs and will need to continue to do so to win their team the series. This has the potential to be a very interesting series especially in light of the rumours of a dispute between the two GMs. Prediction: Anaheim wins the series in 7 games #4 Minnesota Wild vs #5 San Jose Sharks This looks to be a very close matchup. Both teams are led by superstar forwards, with Marian Gaborik of the Wild scoring 94 points while former Rocket Richard winner Jonathan Cheechoo of the Sharks had another excellent season with 89 points. The Sharks appear to have a stronger top 6, but their depth does not match up to the Wild. On paper, the Sharks should have a stronger defensive core especially with Chris Pronger leading the way, but Kim Johnsson of the Wild has done an excellent job with 64 points and nearly 26 minutes of ice time per game. The goaltending of the Wild may be seen as an advantage with Nicklas Backstrom having an excellent season, but Lehtonen has been good as well, especially since joining the Sharks. Ever since the trade, his record has been 10-3-1 with a .932 save percentage and a 1.81 GAA! Prediction: San Jose wins the series in 7 games Edited April 11, 2020 by Time Lord 6
Popular Post kj29
Eastern Conference Round 1 Preview #1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #8 Carolina Hurricanes Spoiler A rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference finals, which Carolina won in 6 games. However, it is a different story this year with Pittsburgh finishing on top of the East. It will be a thrilling series involving one of the league’s biggest trades: E. Staal vs. Malkin. The Penguins have a clear advantage in this matchup and it could be over sooner than expected if their offense connects. Hurricanes GM Tanev is threatening the blow up the team if they fall short in the playoffs again. #2 Buffalo Sabres vs. #7 New York Rangers Spoiler Both the Sabres and Rangers have had excellent goaltending all season long, but with the star-studded emergence of Henrik Lundqvist, who is sporting an astounding 0.933 save percentage, the Rangers could pull off a stunning upset. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stole the show and gave the Sabres their second consecutive first round exit. Sabres GM Bombastik der Teutone won’t be happy about this outcome, especially considering the amazing offense his team produced this season. #3 Washington Capitals vs. #6 Boston Bruins Spoiler The up and coming Capitals had a season that was much improved from the last, while the big bad Bruins took a slight step backwards. With their young talented forwards leading the way, the Capitals should be able to pull through in the end, although it will be a close series that will be decided in Game 7. GM Spod was spotted posting Snapchat stories in a foreign language last night... perhaps it is the secret behind the Capitals’ success this season? Causing confusion and chaos around the league? Stay tuned, commissioner Nail is rumoured to be investigating this astonishing development. #4 New Jersey Devils vs. #5 Tampa Bay Lightning Spoiler A potential upset could be in the works between two teams that ended the season on a high note. The Lightning were predictably active on the trade deadline, acquiring legend Evgeni Nabokov in net, who has carried them in games since. If their offense and powerplay continue to be successful, the Lightning should be able to solve the Devils’ netminder Martin Brodeur. Lightning GM Kaz has been especially vocal about his ill feelings toward certain players and could blow up the team if they lose sooner than expected. Stay tuned for the Western Conference predictions. Brought to you by kj29’s Kik Art. Happy reacts only Edited April 11, 2020 by kj29

Popular Post kj29
Western Conference Round 1 Preview #1 Nashville Predators vs. #8 Colorado Avalanche Spoiler This year’s President’s Trophy winner is destined to go far into the playoffs after a disappointing first round exit last season. Led by superstars Richards and Kariya, they should be able to lit the lamps against the lowly Peter Budaj. With the Avalanche barely squeezing into the playoffs, the Predators have a massive advantage into this matchup. Nashville GM Caboose is rumored to have said that Kariya may be a free man come July 1st if he gets a championship ring. #2 Calgary Flames vs. #7 Detroit Red Wings Spoiler This may be Calgary’s best chance at the Stanley Cup given their ominous cap situation. Kiprusoff has been amazing all season, achieving a 0.929 save percentage with 48 wins, but Detroit may likely come out on top if their juggernaut powerplay succeeds. Calgary GM Carlutch98 is clearly on the ropes if they lose sooner than expected, considering Iginla, Tanguay, Langkow, Regehr, Bieksa and Kiprusoff may all walk in the case of an early playoff exit. #3 Anaheim Ducks vs. #6 Dallas Stars Spoiler A rematch between the league’s two trade trackers. Last year, Anaheim swept Dallas, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen again. Anaheim GM kj29 is feeling confident, but anything can happen if they get bounced sooner than expected. #4 Minnesota Wild vs. #5 San Jose Sharks Spoiler A thrilling battle between two offense-driven teams. It should be a close high-scoring series, but San Jose has a legitimate shot at the Cup with their powerhouse of Cheechoo, Thornton and Marleau up front. It could go either way, but considering the way San Jose’s top line has produced offensively this season, they should be able to book their ticket to the second round.
