Benning statement was all PR today. He is not going to the media and telling he is shopping Boeser. Remember last year everybody bashed Sekeres when he tweet Canucks are looking to trade Dahlen, and everybody bashed him saying its false and then a couple days later he was traded.

I'd pay that for Toffoli, who looked very very good with Petey.  TT would have ended up in the 27ish goal range, I'd bet on 35 if he played an entire season with Petey.  He's a solid, all around player, imo.

Unfortunately it was only a 10 game stint. Just not enough to command a big paycheque based on historical numbers. Perhaps you're right that he could hit that number, but you don't pay in advance for that. 5.5 is the absolute max I would consider for him though. If he's going to get the same dollars as Brock, I'd easily keep Brock (if it had to be a choice of one or the other).

Zero truth to the trade Boeser bs "rumour."  Per the province today both Benning and Boeser have come out and called total bs. No truth to it at all. Benning says no conversations internally or with anyone else.  Boeser pissed and says the timing was suspect.  in his own words  "the last time I looked the trade deadline had already passed."

 

So anyone who still persists in this is a troll.

It's certainly a good time to showcase himself. I still wouldn't go north of 5.5 as it's too short of a window. Many players play harder on UFA years. I like Toffoli and I'm comfortable with him being the top line RW, but it only makes sense if he's giving us a better deal than Boeser to make him more enticing to keep as it would be beneficial cap-wise. Career numbers (at least the past 3 seasons) will come into play when it comes contract talks IMO.

 

I like to hear more on if Toffoli actually wants to be here. If he plays lights out for us to get a UFA contract offer elsewhere, then the traded value is paid off IMO so I'm not concerned if he walks. If he wants to be here, then hopefully he works with the team and gives us something reasonable to work with to build the best team possible.
