[Report] Carey Price waives NMC for expansion draft

* Players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or who otherwise have been confirmed to have a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy a club's player exposure requirements, unless approval is received from the NHL. Such players also may be deemed exempt from selection by the League.

Bettman has the discretion to step in an look at when and what Montreal knew about Prices injury. If their doc's told them days ago there was a serious problem it should have been disclosed to the league to determine the extent of it. By releasing conflicting and incomplete info via the media they are not giving Seattle a fair consideration of the list provided by Montreal.

Here the thing. Neither Price or Weber were required to meet exposure requirements.  Montreal has McNiven to satisfy the Goaltender requirement.  So this is meaningless.

if they had known earlier Weber and Price may have been exempt. (Like Ferland).

They've already released their list of exempt players. No rules were broken. Do you work for Seattle now?

the injury info on Price came out today. If they knew and didn't disclose it then yes, Bettman may rule theres a problem here.

Considering Montreal met the player exposure requirements without Price being considered your point is meaningless.  The timing of the injury report hurts Montreal more than helps. If they had known sooner he may have qualified to be exempt.  Structural injuries can take awhile to diagnose. You need to wait  for the swelling up fo down. Regardless Seattle can choose to ignore the report and Tske Price if they want too. He’s still 100% available to them

cool how you're skirting around the issue of his NMC and being able to protect another player, but yeah sure.

Oh now they’re lying.  Lol.  Do you have some proof to back that up?

no but Bettman might, and I hope he does look into it.

Its time to stop, you're such a Montreal homer you'd never admit anything is going on here, we're not going to reach an agreement.

If it is a real injury then Seattle has to factor that in like they would with any other player. Announcing it earlier would not change that much. He finished the Playoffs so betteman can't claim he was damaged goods.

If it's fabricated, then that is an issue for sure. I doubt they would do that though.

Its pretty important info to keep until after the ED list is put out. It should be vetted by Bettman imo, if he thinks its fine then so be it, but it looks potentially slimy to me.

How is that an  issue? I actually addressed it. If you knew there might be an injury concern with your starting goalie and your backup goalie was likely to go in the ED wouldn’t you talk to your injured starter and get him to waive his NMC so you don’t end up without a starting goalie or a backup?

I'm done champ. Hopefully Bettman isn't.

I’m dealing with facts.  No rules have been broken. Homer or not they’re facts.  Your dealing with accusations based on your hate of the franchise.  The one rule you suggested was broken had zero baring on anything. Yet you feel comfortable throwing around the word circumvention

What would the difference be if it was announced earlier. Price played enough to not qualify for the LTIR exemption. Would Montreal have been forced to protect him?  The only thing it did was put a question mark over Price. Announcing the injury sooner would have just done that a little sooner. Seattle would still have to factor that into their decision.

I am not quite following the Price drama. It's still a major risk to expose him. Injury or not. Or is the implication that if they released the info earlier he would have been exempt and they'd be forced to expose McNiven? Given he played very recently I am not so sure he'd have been exempt from the draft for injury reasons.

Either way, if I am Seattle I probably take him. They can LTIR Price, run Holtby and/or Kappo Kakhonen until playoffs. Losing a regular season of Price won't be so bad when there are so many other quality goalies exposed. Then at the playoffs you get Price back. Who is proven to be nuts in the playoffs. Seattle can pull a Tampa Bay. What a way to enter the league.

Theres really not much drama. Just a few people trying to make a big deal over nothing.

people are questioning the timing of the injury report like they’re not legit or something.  End of the day Seattle is free to choose Price and take their chances it’s the severity of the injury.  Price is meeting with a specialist in New York but I seriously doubt the results will be known prior to the draft
