If you had to only listen to one genre of music for the rest of your life what would you choose and why?

2020s

I just went to a music fest, (first one in 2 years) all the bands had new stuff

all bands were Canadian

why look back when you can look forward

my genre - Canadiana

with that I can have

Stompin' Tom, Stan Rogers, Lightfoot, Guess Who, ( and their offshoots), Gino Vanelli, Lynn Myles. Lynne Hanson, DOA, Dayglos, Carolyn Mark, Whitehorse, Carmannah, Old Soul Rebel, Snotty Nose Rezkids just to name a few

Who can forget this Goldie !

I have loved DOA for decades however since I found hockey

Songs like this one and the hockey song have taken on more meaning to me.

I once played on the same ball hockey team as the Hanson Bros.

Even got a T-shirt.We called the game the Chiclet Scramble.

We toured opening for No Means No on the West Coast.

We hung with them and SNFU quite a bit.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane lads.

Dead at my age.

When I heard that last year I was gutted.

Societies No @#$### Use

PS

Yeah, I was very fortunate to be a musician during the 90's in Van.

Such a scene.

What do they say?... you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

Some great Canadian artists there. I love Stan Rogers and Lightfoot. Other than The Hip, I'd say some of my faves would be Spirit of the West, Bruce Coburn and I like some of Cowboy Junkies stuff.

You're so right. I'm in Langley but me and my friends were always trekking into DT for some show or other. 54-40, Kim Mitchell, Alhana Miles, Moist, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Boot Sauce, The Headstones (my fave after the Hip, they played China Beach in Langley once!), The Odds (saw them as Dawn Patrol at the dance for life), Lee Aaron, The Pursuit of Happiness. So many great Canadian bands playing at the huge diversity of clubs. And back then most concerts still made a stop in Vancouver. I don't know if it was internet porn or people staying home to watch concert videos on youtube that killed the No Fun city club vibe but it's sucked for decades now.

We have so many good bands/artists.  Some of mine:  Headstones, Moist (David Usher), Holly McNarland, Matt Good, OLP,  54-40, Age of Electric, Barstool Prophets, Rymes with Orange, Metric, The Watchmen, The Pursuit of Happiness, etc.

Picture of Health is still playing at my place on a regular basis. That album is seriously good.

^ Edit:  Just saw BH's post above mine.  Yep.  Me too.

those are good too.

there are many more I just popped that list off the top of my head.

I saw Carmannah, Old Soul Rebel and Whitehorse this past weekend.

Also Fred Eaglesmith, Blackie, Colin, Ian Tyson, Blue Rodeo, NoMeansNo, Diana Krall, Holly Cole, Bim, Henderson (Bill + Scott), Kate Weekes

I could go on for a long time
