[Trade] Golden Knights trade Evgenii Dadonov, conditional 2023 2nd-round pick to Ducks for Ryan Kesler, John Moore (VOIDED)

This LTIR crap is getting out of control. How the NHL let the Knights aquire a 10 million dollar contract while being capped out is absolutely insane. Circumvention central and don't even get me started about the lightening and kucherov.

But it doesn't solve anything.  To activate their players off LTIR they need to create real cap space.  They could add 100M in LTIR contracts and it wouldn't solve their issue.

CapFriendly did the math - that's the amount of cap space they need to clear by moving a contract or demoting players.

So if a player is healthy, how do you legitimately keep them on LTIR? doesn't that kind of make a mockery of the cap system?

They are not allowed to and will be forced to clear cap space.  They'll have to find a team willing to take Dadonov or trade someone they don't want to trade.

Ask Tampa. Kucherov was "hurt until the playoffs started and came in fresh as a daisy.

Adding $100M to LTIR would definitely solve their problem of activating players.  By that notion, the Canucks shouldn't be able to activate Poolman, but they can, and they will because they are still carrying Ferland, Sutter, and Keeper on LTIR.

I wonder if Betttman will really do that though. I mean look at SJS and Kane situation, they just left it hanging and allowed SJS to add new cap money even though the NHL's own investigation showed there wasn't grounds to terminate. I have no faith that Bettman will hold Vegas to any kind of standard on this.

Or take on more LTIR.  Doesn't help to in terms of actual cap space, but it does allow them to activate Martinez.

Kucherov had a torn labrum in his hip.  It's an injury/surgery that quite a few players have had.  The recovery time is listed at 5 to 6 months.  That same season Pastrnak took 4.5 months after being announced at 5 months,  Seguin took 6 months.  Tampa was aided that it was a shortened season.  Tampa didn't even expect him back that early.

It wouldn't.  Players on LTIR count against the cap.  There's absolutely no cap space created.

I already feel that was the case. Stone played hurt all year but as soon as eichel was ready to come back he was moved to LTIR. Super convenient

Too hurt for the regular season but didn't miss a game or evena minute of the entire stanley cup playoffs. He obviously could have played the last few games of the regular season at least... but they didn't have the CAP space because they used the loophole.

Don't worry, by 2025 when we are a sure fire contender and we put Petey on the LTIR after acquring Barzal from the Islanders in a big trade, the NHL will investigate and will "do the right thing" and take away our playoff spot and give it to the 9th place team in the West.

You're acknowledging Stone being hurt, then complain when a hurt player goes on LTIR?

We did it in 2011 and weren't punished.

This whole mindset of the league being out to screw only the Canucks at every possible turn is really quite sad.
