Popular Post OldFaithfulCap
Game info : TV: Sportsnet. Radio: AM 650. Overview: Before the road-trip the Canucks' goal was to win 3 out of 5 to get back into the wildcard hunt and first game was a success. The Canucks started poorly, Spencer Martin deflected an avalanche of shots but the Canucks tied it up in the second and came on strong in the 3rd to take the lead before Ottawa scored 2 powerplay goals to rekindle nightmares of earlier games. Nevertheless there were some encouraging signs with Horvat continuing his goal spree and Ekman-Larsson picking up the second goal this season by a Canucks's defencemen. Montreal played last night overcoming the Red Wings in a shootout. The Habs have dropped their last 4 home games in a season with expectations dampened with Carey Price being out for the season. They have struggled to score goals at even-strength and on the Powerplay but so the Canucks Penalty Kill has been far too welcoming for many teams with similar struggles. One player who made a name for himself with his fists is Arber Xhekaj and with the Canucks leading the league in fights we may get a closer look at his abilities. Ten games into the season, the most consistent things about the Canucks has been their offensive firepower, Bo Horvat and their ability to give up leads. Perhaps last night was the changing of the guard, with the Canucks stealthily improving as the game wore on like cardiac road warriors of the past. Or maybe it was the Canucks managing to squeak by another weak opponent. Let's hope that they manage to pick up the two points anyway. OldFaithfulCap
Waiting for lineup details. You'd figure Demko and Montembeault will start as they didn't play last night but who knows. Bruce may put Martin back in to try and get the win, and the Canucks do have 2 days after tonight before another back to back against the leafs on saturday. grumpyone
both teams had to play & travel yesterday, plus Montreal had to play the extra OT/ shootout. That gives us a slight, and I do mean slight edge. Am hoping for an inspired effort tonight & lighting up Monte---- whatever his name is-- so that he gets a sunburn from the red lights going off. 1

Nucker 67
So OTT managed over 40 shots (4 goals) against VAN yesterday. Good thing for the Canucks Martin was on his game. Could've been a very different ending if Demko started. There was also some puck luck, but that happens to all teams occasionally. OTT couldn't buy a goal with all of their chances. I was watching Jack Rathbone play, he's pretty quick with skating and reacting, but he's small and isn't a physical player, plays almost scared, trying not to get crushed. Looking at MTL with Ds like Savard, Guhle, Xhekaj and Edmundson. Big dudes, will be interesting to see how they defend against the Canucks. Nucker 67
a Win tonight means the Canucks Win the week! Shoot, they'll be almost at 0.500 hockey if they win tonight. Maybe it's not a disaster just yet. Of course, if they lose, then it's a complete clusterf**k and they should trade everybody Edited November 9, 2022 by NUCKER67
