HorvatToBaertschi Posted June 22, 2023 Share Posted June 22, 2023 If a player plays out his entire career in the CHL, you probably don't want him to count against your 50 contracted spots. Usually farm teams will sign those players instead, which buys 1-2 years of pro scouting time to then make a more informed decision on a fringe player. Bains has done really well, Johansson has been a very pleasant surprise and Aman is found money. The college UFAs are looking good too with Hirose and McWard getting some NHL time but also Max Sasson looked good in bottom 6 role in the AHL. Seems like he is a good skate and can move the puck well, but nothing too groundbreaking. Though he may be better in full games, the highlight package is not super enticing.
