Firing Ron Wilson after giving him an extension was silly.

There is NO WAY that the Leafs move Reilly.

Shhh! The power of positive thinking is at work here.

2 things are at work here either ownership wanted luongo burke didn't or burke wanted luongo ownership didn't im leaning more towards the latter and i full expect a trade especially with nonis by sunday

I remember it like it was yesterday. Night before the Draft in VAN, standing outside hotel for Nonis' presser announcing Luongo acquisition.

Luongo will be a leaf by Sunday.. if not I will eat my toque.

Yes I am sure Nonis is still a big Canuck fan after the organization showed him the door.

It's ironic how Ownership let Nonis go because he wouldn't pull the deal for Richards by mortgaging our future (Kesler and Edler).

I remember hearing a rumour about Nonis turning down a Schneider for Richards deal a while after Cory was drafted.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Really, the Beauchemin deal is about the only trade I think Burke clearly won in his four years.

You could make the argument the Leafs won the Phaneuf deal until they made him Captain but...
Even the Kaberle deal doesn't look that great if Colbourne doesn't pan out. Kaberle did help the Bruins win the Cup and they are one of the Leafs biggest rivals.

Honestly, just based off of his body of work he deserves to get canned.

Im not buying the PR that this was a personality clash, if it was it coulda waited till the end of the year.

This is luongo related.

Also I want Morgan Reilly

Here's my take.

1. New owners not happy with Burke's record and say by All Star break you better be in a good spot for the playoffs.

2. Burke says yes sirs we're building there, bad injuries last year but I expect nothing less.

3. Owners say "What about the Luongo / goaltending issue, what are you doing about that?"

4. Burke, I don't like front loaded, heavy long term contracts and have stated that publicly, and Van is asking too much and we have a couple of young studs who will show they are capable.

5. Owners - Brian we are a media company and make money in advertising, etc, we NEED the Leafs to make the playoffs and Loungo will get us there, even Dave your asst GM thinks so. Forget about the money make the deal.

6. Burke - I am the GM and making the decisions here, I am no puppet and not making a deal that doesn't make sense to this team.

7. Owners, you didn't make an offer to Stamkos (a kid from Markham last year), no effort for Jeff Carter, from London Ontario, why?

8. Burke, see number four and six.

9. Owners- Ok thank you Brian. - Burke leaves.

10 Owners - he doesn't get this is a business we need to make the playoffs THIS YEAR and this game is all about marketing, not just hockey...Fire him and get someone in there who gets the business side, not just that its only about hockey...

So yes Lou was a factor but not the cause.

I bet the firing has more to do with personel issues and no playoffs than Roberto Luongo. More to come on this story me thinks.

Tyler Seguin trade alone should've got Burke canned

Though he did somewhat redeem himself with Gardiner

Johnny Gaudreau>any Casucks

Edler, Markstrom, Hansen, 2nd round pick 2014 to Islanders for Ryan Strome, 5th overall pick 2014

This is fairly even as well.

Maybe LU made the request as one his conditions to come to T.O that BB get fired lol.. In “LU“ of all this, does this mean we get more in return for LU now provided he does get traded to Toronto?

So many sports commentators are saying Burke didn't like the Luongo trade and everyone including Nonis were all for it.

Just noticing that Dreger has been especially quiet on this.

@markhmasters: Nonis on his lineup: 'We have some work to do'

You'd better believe it. Let's hope so.
  • 0

OMG we could've had McKeown!

I think Virtanen was a terrible pick given that he's out for 6 months which will hinder his development. You don't pick someone at #6 under that circumstance, along with the fact that he was given a 3/5 IQ (aka he's dumb).

God dammit Benning. WHY VIRTANEN? Terrible move.

Down by the River - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Didn't Nonis say he just found out as well. Him and Burke were at the marlies game last night. I would have Burke I was sick and couldn't make the game if I was Nonis and knew they were gonna fire him tomorrow morn

Looking at the Nonis transactions, there is still some players on this team from his moves:
Edler, Schneider, Hansen, Raymond (draft), Burrows (FA), Luongo(Trade)

He re-signed a lot of his own players. Other than that, acquired and traded a lot of spare parts basically. The only big move he did was the Luongo trade. Will he do it again?

Edit
His first 2 picks turned out to be the best ones. I think he moved up in the draft to steal Edler from the Wings if I remember right. Ironically, also responsible for a goal-tending dilemma at the moment.
