I know this is a bit early but I went and did some research on the 2014 NHL draft and of course the usual names of Ekblad, Nylander and Sam Reinhart came up. But one prospect that interested me was Hadyn Fleury. This guys huge, PLUS he's a great skater, which is normally rare with guys his size. AND he's only 16 right now. Imagine what he could be like on Draft Day.

Here's a link on the 2014 Draft rankings as of last November: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1299837

Let me know what you guys think. Can this guy be the real deal, shutdown defense man that many teams would kill to have?

we have enough shut down guys for the next 4 years. We need a mobile offensive dman. Tanev Hamhius, Bieksa Garrison Staton and Corrado coming up, all around shut down dmans, and since he's ranked in the teens, i'm not too sold on him unless he's the next Adam Foote, which is extremely unlikely and this is a weak draft.

Just came across this thread, and I saw his stats, his stats are okay, they're not great but he doesn't seem like he has top 10 potential with these stats

2013-14 Regular Season Red Deer Rebels 49 6 28 34 16 28

Opinions?

He's actually doing extremely well offensively so far this season.

To put it into perspective, Mirco Mueller, who plays a fairly similar game to Fleury, had 31 points in 64 games his draft year, and went 18th overall.
