At this rate Luongo won't even be traded, because all teams will have picked up goalies by then, so it will basically force Gillis to trade Scneider.

So little is happening that the media is willing to pounce on everything and blow it up (or I'm reading too much into this..)

Dreger tweets that Schneider is in play (ie make an offer):

@DarrenDreger: It's getting interesting. 2 sources say Corey Schneider is in play. 1st and a prospect part of asking price. Suspect Oilers in on talks.

Then Lawless (Winnipeg Free Press/TSN 1290) tweets that he's being shopped.

@garylawless: TSN boys @TSNBobMcKenzie and @DarrenDreger reporting #canucks are shopping Cory Schneider. Told #nhljets not kicking those tires yet. #bn

A little different there Gary...

I think Aquilini may well have forced the bad deal. If this is true, he really ought to buy this thing out if worst comes to worst.

It would be the right thing to do. Philly and Tampa have shown how it is done.

If this were true, Aquilini needs to step up and eat DPs (or somebody's) contract to get some return for Lou. With the goalies that we have, no one needs to be bought out if worst comes to worst.

guess what Tortorella is not the GM Gillis and it's Gillis who chose's who stays and who goes not the coach try to think before you post

Oh man will you be surprised. A five year contract to the coach and many players are AV guys. Many players around the NHL have had run-ins with their coaches and were subsequently traded. Need not look further than our own Luongo, Mathieu Schneider, Torres and Hodgson; those players were thrown under the bus by AV. Gaborik and Tortorella comes to mind.

That's why I believe Tortorella gives new hope that Luongo will stay.

Good thing you're not a non-conformist...

u kno wot i mean guy that knos tallon his name dale hitchford hes tight with tallon i kno him

He's not an English teacher, is he?

I bet if Schneider were to end up in NYR, AV would play him over Lundqvist.

That's a bet you'd lose.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

If Luongo ends up getting bought out/put on waivers, Gillis should be fired on the spot. All signs point to there being substantial deals at least being heavily negotiated, which he continuously shot down to "wait for the perfect deal". Well, here's your perfect deal Mike.... Buying him out for nothing?

If the Canucks could put Luongo on waivers and he'd be picked up, then a 1 for 1 trade of Luongo for Rick Dipietro makes absolutely ono sense what so ever unless the canucks got a draft pick back and i don't see why they couldn't get that done.

Another good option would be a simple Luongo for Jovanovski plus florida's 2'nd rd pick. Then the canucks could buy out jovo

I Don't think anyone is advocating a 1 for 1 swap of Lou and DiPietro. The Canucks would receive other assets as well.

The upshot is that ownership would use a compliance buyout of RD's contract, the Canucks would have players, picks or prospects that would fill needs and the Isles would have a new starting goalie.

It's a wise move to float rumours that Schneider is in play.
It dispenses with the idea that Luongo could possibly be a freebie....

Lol Bernier same value as Schneider

Schneider did not play that well these last playoffs. Bernier is 2 years younger and was a higher touted prospect. Schneider is a ufa in a couple seasons. You guys are such homers. A mid first round pick is good value for Cory.

Because someone like the Oilers may want Schneider , instead of Luongo.

Bernier 2 years younger and being a high draft pick means nothing

Schneider has more experience being older played more games has always been at the top of the stats in every league he has played in

even playing just a short season as a starter shows that Schneider has more value

And I agree. I said some people would argue that berniers value is not that much lower. Go onto hfboards and see what other fans think. People seem to want the moon for Cory. I am one of them but my expectations arent as high as those guys saying Tavares for Cory. I thought LA would have gotten more for Bernier but clearly the goaltending market isnt quite as high as it once was and that Lombardi wanted to avoid this whole Lu Cory situation. One pro about moving Cory for a top 15 pick is that we instantly shed 4 mill while getting a potential franchise player. Sunds like a win win to me.

And still nothing has happened today, league wide. Lot's of talk only.

I wonder if there will be a flurry of activity tonight or early tomorrow?

I think the lack of a V8.0 is the only thing holding it up.

And that's just from breathing.

He isn't exactly the picture of health, is he?

I feel bad for his pancreas.

/ It always blows me away that so many GMs and coaches can be in such horrible physical condition with access to such state of the art fitness equipment and training staff. Use your tools, eh?

@305MiamiTeams: Just saw #FlaPanthers shopping Clemmensen. If that's the case and with Theodore a UFA, Luongo reunion is possible if #Canucks buy him out.

That's a useless tweet. It's an update from a radio station about info that is already out there and they are simply speculating no differently than we are.
