I think you are reading way too much into things, and that Me_ is stuck in wishful thinking, that the new coach will demand that Luongo be retained. I think it's far-fetched. Coming to terms on a contract is far more likely a reason for delay than Tortorella acting as though he's going to have the power to force deals and timelines - I don't buy that at any level. We need something of value in return because we aren't even close to being contenders as is. MG screwed up big time expecting a kings ransom for Luo, now he better be prepared to bite the bullet and take back scraps to rid us of this contract. I don't see a buy-out in the works as i believe some team would pick Luo up on waivers but you never know and if it comes to that.. oh boy id love to see MG explain that one. Negotiating a contract though, may be it. Gillis is a shrewd negotiator. I just feel there is more to it. MG has alot to do and if Torts has already been offered the job, it leads me to believe it's something else. I mean, you know how Torts is with the media. Do you think Torts would honestly take the job, knowing he may have to deal with this situation? As unlikely as it is, MG can not delay this anymore. He's got a week. No more than that. I would imagine Philly tries to dump Bryz in a trade so that they can save one of their buyouts. I'm thinking Couturier would have to be the main piece if they wanna do that. So that's 3 teams now that are in a position to trade contracts for the purposes of buyouts (Philly, Tampa, and NYI). All in need of a new goalie.
