Gillis hater go back under your bridge. Gillis just filled our biggest need and we also are getting Selke..I mean Kesler back within a week.

If Roy clicks in Van, MG will find a way to keep him long term.

This deal happened with the emergence of Frank Corrado, Peter Andersson and Henrik Tommernes. Connauton became a redundant player. Great deal by MG...filling a need we desperately had to fill.

Terrible trade! An undersized UFA, at the end of his contract, for our best D prospect and a 2nd in a deep draft? Total fail. We're not exactly deep on prospects, and we just gave up two more for a 2 month rental

LOL!!! "Best D prospect"

Someone doesn't pay much attention to the prospects

My hope is that AV keeps him a 2nd C when Kes comes back and move Kes to the RW. Roy is a playmaker and can dish out passes to Kes.

Going to say this. The Roy deal smells like one which the Canucks could utilize to put Kes at RW. Roy is small as crap but he is one hell of a set up man and for the sake of preserving longevity for Kes it makes sense to move him to RW as he would be less likely to be injured

^^^^^^

He is a second line center on the nucks.

Not a fan of this trade. Roy is a rental and MG just gave up our best D prospect and 2nd round pick. This years team is not going to win the Stanley Cup. This trade is not worth the price that was paid.

Corrado says hi and Connauton has been dropping in the depth charts

Good job Gillis, nice bargain. Even with him being a rental this is still a good move. Realistically, Connaughton wouldnt have cracked the lineup with the back end so strong anyway.

46.7% FO doesn't really inspire confidence in taking the necessary responsibilities as 3rd C on this team, assuming Keslord comes back guns blazing...

Party pooper, show some faith

There is nothing this team has shown me all year that makes me think we can compete for the Cup. And if you feel they can all of a sudden flip the switch an go all L.A. in the post season...you're dreaming. Not going to happen.

Roy is a second liner, not a third liner.... We have Schroeder on the 3rd line, and he's doing fine playing there. Kesler will be playing RW with Roy down the middle. Look what LA gave up for Regher.... This is a solid trade....

Awesome trade! We fill a need, we get a leader who's also a centerman, and all we give up is a draft pick and a defenceman! I love it!

After this year, we should buy out booth and have this as our top 6.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Roy

Re-sign Roy to second line money on a 2-3 year contract.

Roy most of his career went up against teams like Boston, Philly and PIttsburgh. He's totally top 2 center man even hint of first line duties.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

If somehow Gillis can pull off Clowe, our line-up would suddenly be scaring

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins/Raymond-Kesler-Hansen
Clowe-Roy-Kassian (that reminds me of the Buff-Bolland-Versteeg line)

OR

Sedin-Sedin-Jensen
Burrows-Kesler-Hansen
Clowe-Roy-Higgins

do we need any of them to step-up this year or next year?

Well, we need to shed some cap by next year, so either Ballard or Booth + Luongo or Schneider. I had KCo pencilled in for Ballard's spot. What cheap prospect is going to fill that hole on D next year? I don't see Corrado making the big club next year. When Roy leaves in FA, even the second rounder will sting a little on draft day.

I hope we can keep him. They've been talking on TV recently about how he wants a large payday next year, but hopefully he enjoys playing here and we can work out a deal. Roy would fix a lot of our problems.

I like this deal. Added a Centre (desperate need) with skill without losing a roster player.

When Kes is healthy he will be back in front of the net on the 1st unit PP. Now we can follow that up with a highly skilled centre for the second unit.

He is not a defensive liability. With the other size that the Nucks have brought in, its not the end of the world that he is small.

If Kes gets healthy, the Canucks have just gone from being brutal down the middle, they are now among the deepest at centre in the Conference.

Why are people bitching about this?

Also, Roy might like it here and re-sign, never know. Especially is Kes gets hurt again...

Now lets get Clowe to balance this move out! Move MayRay to get some size?

Completely disagree. I am never one to defend MG's moves because some of them dumbfound me but this one makes sense.

Edler is locked and loaded. Tanev is young. Bieksa is going to be there for while. Garrison is only 27 I believe. Hamhuis has 3 more yrs. Thats there only position of strength right now

You are correct sir. And - Corrado will be fast-tracked....his development-curve seems to be a quick one. Altho' Edler needs to be fixed with a defensively-sound game-savy D-partner who will back-stop his errors....or & get us Campbell & reunite him with Garrison. It will take probably take Edler with Luongo...& taking something else back - to do that.
