Why do so many people want a streaky player? I watched a good 25 buffalo games this year he is no good defensively and he is always banged up! I would much rather canucks keep looking for dirty grinders to put in those greasy playoff goals when there is no room to be flashy and u need that puck bouncing off ur ass and in! Players like simmonds ott Neil Dubinsky lucic. My suggestion David clarkson who is a free agent brings more than vanek would who would cost an arm and a leg to get, yes you can argue that clarkson is streaky but he can still bring things to the table if he's not scoring.

dont really see how that is a rumour. That is just some internet "expert" saying if its a long rebuild it makes sense that he WOULD want out, not that he does.

it is purely his opinion with no basis in fact.

I don't want Vanek, dont re sign Roy. Roy isn't that great, I am not impressed with him. He just seems lost and I think we should let him and Raymond walk.

On that note; Burrows got outscored by Hansen this year.

Just sayin...

Burrows the Centerman. -.^. I think Hansen got more PP than Burrows this year except for those few games when they have sedins/burrows/kesler/edler. Since Roy joined, burrows didn't even get 2nd pp time

If there's any player I am ready to give up on for a goal scorer it's this.

Schneider + Burrows + Raymond for Vanek + Ott

Re-sign Roy then re-unite him with Vanek? If we can sign Torres think of the line combos

Sedins with Kassian

Vanek with Roy and Higgins

Burrows with Kesler

Torres with Lapierre and Hansen

One can dream right?

Luongo for Ehrhoff

Edler for Ehrhoff

We use Luongo to hopefully acquire younger assets.

OH MAN The hoff playing with Garrison would be a LETHAL top PP D pairing.

He was hurt for most of the year. Was still on pace for about 51 points in a full 48 game season.

as far as I know, the entire team stopped trying to a certain extent. Ryan Miller being a jerk callilng out his teamates. Pretty much a season to hell for Buffalo sabres. Hard to pick on one player.

I wouldn't mind having Vanek here, would love to have Ehrhoff back. He plays like what? 27 minutes per game for us? Challenged Duncan Keith to a fight? Not sure if Ehrhoff burned his bridges from Vancouver. I just hope it was a business thing and Ehrhoff didn't say anything nasty to Gillis. Get er done Gillis. Ehrhoff to us is more important to us then someone like Bieksa.

Hoff with Sedins and Kesler is already deadly. What made our powerplay so successful in 2011 was this combo.....

Sedin Sedin Kesler, (we had 2 centermans in this power play unit)
Christian Ehrhoff Qb ing the top powerplay In the NHL, I don't know why it worked out so well. During the 2011 season, Outside of Ehrhoff, none of our defencemens were able to stay healthy, so it was Ehrhoff pretty much on the number 1 powerplay unit with alternating DMANs, again none of them were able to really stay healthy. He just worked out so well with Sedins, he really did deserve more then Bieksa money. Oh well. I hope Gillis regrets this decision to lett the Hoffer walk. If we can really find a similar style dman that be great too, although extremely unlikely. I don't think Brian Cambpell contract is something we will take in. Dan Boyle would probably re sign in San jose.

id be all for a Ehrhoff-Luongo deal. Assuming Miller is traded, they would absolutely need a goaltender.

Perhaps Luongo for Ehrhoff, and then we flip Edler for a Bobby ryan or Sean Coutier?

I have absolutley no clue why the frack Anahiem will trade us Ryan for Edler. WAtching game 7 right now between the Ducks and Wings, Ducks don't need a guy like Edler. Not sure why Flyers would trade Coutier for us too, as he was a beast in the playoffs 2 years ago. The most realistic trade is Edler for Ehrhoff.

BTW, Ehrhoff was actually part of the number 1 penalty killing unit in 2011. That team finshed 2nd best pk in the leauge.

Myers was playing so bad this year, they were willing to give him away. He played so bad, some of their fans said if they re did the season without him in the line up, same team, but no Myers they believe the Sabres would have made the playoffs.

Which is no surprise as firstly he is actually the only guy the defense has to take care of and secondly he spends lots of time in areas where it hurts and where you easily get hurt. It happens every year: Vanek scores like hell, gets hurt, plays although injured because they need him badly and thus cools down. You bet: Van the man would set up new NHL scoring records in an offensively minded team where he is not the only VIP forward. However, his contributions on the defensive end of the ice are rather mediocre

@NHLexpertpicks
#Sabres Thomas Vanek wants out of Buffalo. 'If it looks like a long rebuild then it makes sense for both parties to move on'.

He's not the only one by the sounds of it.
