Now who were saying we should trade Kesler?!

He basically scored 1 goal against the 2nd worse team in the league.

He played alright, but he was still on the ice for 1 of the Flyers goals and had 0 hits. He was great in the face off circle tonight, which is good to see. First few games he was brutal.

Strange I thought Santo played a great game. Grinded his butt off and made great decisions with the puck in both zones.

I only watched the second and third but he looked out of place on the regular when the puck was up for grabs

Could be a wild ride, this season. EVERY game so far we've trailed in(all 7). Comebacks take character!

Yeah they do. But you have to consider the quality of the opponents they've come back against.

Besides, they have no business being behind against these bad teams.

Kesler with Henrik would be great if we had someone who could lay second line center.

I don't think Santorelli or Schroeder in that spot is a very good idea long term.

Flyers played better than what I have seen of them this year. Lucky bounces made the game interesting.

Not a good consistent game but its a good start for the road trip, too many times we were dumping and chasing imo.

Loving Torts on the bench so far this season, doing what needs to be done. Sometimes the line changes are off with timing (4th vs 1st) but generally works out.

Loved the grit to come back. Higgins-Hank-Kesler is a lot of firepower on the top line, although I'm not sure this line is sustainable as a combo for more than a handful of games.

Schroeder looked good in his return. If the Sedins are split, maybe have him play with Dank and Santorelli?

Finally, Tanev. What wasn't there to like from his game tonight? The one-timer from the point caught my attention. That shot had WAYYY more on it than I thought it would. It seems he addressed his two biggest weaknesses (piss poor slap shot, lack of strength) in the offseason. I'd like to see him as the PP QB on the first unit next game since he is the best passer of all our D-men.

Yes lets downplay him scoring 2 goals including the game winner.

Who freaking cares how he scored them? He scored them.

Fans in this city never stop complaining. It's ridiculous.

ya it wasn't a picture perfect game very few are in an 82 game season a win is a win and the fans will celebrate it as a win so take the negativity elsewhere

Celebrate the win, but I am reading about Kesler lighting it up and what a genius Torts was because these new lines rocked. This wasn't the case and the Canucks didn't look all too impressive in getting the two points. Yeah, one of the goals might have been a hand pass, but Kesler had the decency to look sheepish on how he netted his first.

Random thought; How about Tortorella playing Sestito, centering Daniels Sedin, for a defensive zone face off late in the third of a tied game?

Related; Sestito has been playing better than many, including myself, have given him credit for...

Negativity is neutral here at CDC.

On a side note loving torts conviction to moving guys around, and investigating who feeds off who.

I don't mind celebrating wins early in the year... We aren't a top team at the moment so we need to take what we can get. Hopefully we can progress throughout the season to make a splash in the playoffs.

Santorelli has impressed; pursuit, grit on the boards, back checking, fore checking, going to the net, puck on net when the opportunity presents, has been passing pretty well... Everything you might want out of a 2knd line center except a track record on draws?

Booth Santorelli Burrows (Hansen for now)

Kesler on the wing needs to happen, especially with Horvat and Gaunce developing for next year.

Better yet, have Horvat and Gaunce develop as wingers?

They weren't bad imo. It's a mystery how that roster can continue to be so disappointing, but tonight they played a hard working game and almost looked nearly as good as they are on paper.

Henrik
Santorelli
Schroeder
Richardson

Doesn't exactly scream center depth. It's fine when we're struggling, but come playoff time, we gotta do better than that down the middle.

Anyone expecting something completely new next game based on this game?

Im going with:

Higgins-Henrik-Kesler
Daniel-Schroeder-Kassian
Booth-Santorelli-Hansen
Sestito-Richardson-Weise

Same D pairings, but man, those lines could work wonders.

he was 61.1% going into tonight's game, but not taking a whole lot of draws as a result of leaping up into the top 6.

when he plays with Richardson, they are a downright nightmare for the opposition at the offensive end of the ice - their forechecking and puck pursuit has been really noticeable on an ongoing basis, and again tonight.

I really liked how Schroeder looked tonight as well, despite coming off an injury, shaking off some rust and trying to catch up to game shape/pace. He and Kassian played a solid game. Kassian's passing continues to really impress me, particularly the way he finds open defensemen, from off the half boards, for some prime scoring opportunities.

For me it's a defensive thing - Kesler is obviously one of the best and I've always thought Hank was grossly underrated for what he brings defensively. I'd be more open to dropping Danny to Kes' line and letting them both stay at C.

Yes because 2 goals, 76% in the dot, 2 blocked shots, and 3 takeaways is just a horrible night.

Plus we beat probably the most desperate team in the league in their own building.

It's called building towards something. At least they're going in the right direction.
