I've seen some opinions in the GDT, but I wanted to see everything in one spot.

Here's my final say on what happened at the beginning of the game: Yes, the Canucks had last change, so hypothetically they could've put out their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line, instead of their 4th. However, what Torts was angry about was the fact that the decision for Calgary to put their 4th line out was BASED ON the assumption that Torts would put out the 1st line. If that was the case, Henrik Sedin would be at center, and look back to who the flames put at center for the opening draw? A player that had only taken face-offs 3 previous times? In my mind, they knew full well of Henrik's rib injury, and were looking to exploit it right at the beginning.

As for what happened during the first intermission, I don't really know what to say.

So anyways, what do you guys think?

(((Also, PJ Stock is a moron))))

Isn't it known much before the start of the game who the starting lineup is?

Loved it, it showed he cares about his players and stood up for the team. AV would be chewing his gum at all that.

Torts is a beauty. A game like this is what makes a group of players come together as a team, when they see their coach willing to stand up for them. Love the fact he apologized to Lain afterwards. For all the heat Torts gets, he sounds like a guy who really respects his players.

Torts was just protecting his team. He's obviously isn't going to put out his stars against Calgarys goons. Hartley wanted fights, well he got them.

Did he go overboard by going to the Calgary dressing room? Sure. (Although I found it entertaining and awesome.) But he had his heart in the right place and that's all that matters to me. This team isn't getting pushed around anymore.

Torts made the right call. Calgary knew Hank was playing with a pretty nasty rib injury on top of a hand injury. No doubt in my mind they were going to try and get him out of the game on the opening faceoff.

I must say, I love the pushback that Canucks have shown. They may not be built for games like tonight and the LA game on the regular, but man you have to admire the piss and vinegar they have shown.

He went into a hallway and yelled at some people. Nothing much actually happened, but people will blow it out of proportion because that's what people do. Glad to see him fiery though, hes giving this team a bite back AV never could. Props to Torts.

Nothing inspires leadership like a guy who's willing to do whatever it takes to defend his team. Did he cross a line? Perhaps. But it's coaches like that, players will go through a brick wall for.

Inspiring.

The players all look up to the coach so knowing your coach will go to war for you is all the confidence you need. Beautiful antic.

Patrick Roy defends his players and is basically praised like a hero. Torts does the same thing and is considered an expletive.

I loved what happened tonight, and what has been happening of late.

Loving it! Love how Torts stood up for the boys! If he didn't have the locker room before he'll have it now.

Major props to KB3 for stepping in and taking that draw instead of Lain at the start as well.

I loved it. I also loved all the pansies whining and crying about it because they can't handle it. Torts is the coach we desperately needed. Slowly, but surely, he is tearing away the bad habits this team formed under AV.

I love Torts, and this was super funny and entertaining, but I feel bad for Lain with this being his first game. I'm glad we have a coach who doesn't take sh*% but I wish he had just put out Kesler/Kassian to bite back. We are a better team than Calgary. It should not have been such a tight game and this only exhausted our players further, although it was hilarious.

A special moment in Canucks' history. Here's hoping it is not a long suspension. But knowing how the NHL LOVES to use the Canucks as examples, you know it will be.
Forget the fact one Coyote took out three of our players with his stick... a small fine for him.
Forget that Alberts was knocked into next month with a headhunt. Blind eyes to that.
Torts gets near the Flames locker room?!?! Throw the book at him!

Interestingly, Kevin Weekes basically let the cat out of the bag on this one post game, stating that Torts is used to getting away with a lot of stuff when he was in the leagues marquee market in NYC and probably doesn't yet realize he's in a much weaker position in Vancouver. Elliott Friedman (who had taken a pro-Torts position vs PJ Stock post-game) then accused Weekes of being a 'Vancouver conspiracy theorist' with Weekes back tracking furiously.

I think this sheds some light on the source of Torts' frustrations here. He coming to grips with the crapty way our franchise is treated by the league office and it's starting to get to him.

Been there. Sometimes you get crappy calls like the official finding a goal when the puck entered through the side of the net. Then sometimes you get the jerks who run at you. Everyone knows who they are. Lost a championship due to one - when they injured my defensive partner.

Next season, we were on a mission. We went undefeated. Every week it was,"we had a championship stolen. We're going to get it back.

Love Torts standing up against that bullcrap.

Yup, but it will hardly be a surprise. What I really don't like is the media campaigning for it. They stuck up for Roy and are trashing Torts. Big shocker.
