-Vintage Canuck-
Rich Peverley retires from NHL, joins Stars’ front office: Rich Peverley shared some sad (though maybe not surprising) news on Saturday: his NHL playing career is over. On the bright side, it sounds as though he’s immediately transitioning to a front office job, as he told the Dallas Morning News’ Mike Heika that he’ll work in the player development department. It’s never a happy moment to see a player hang up his skates at what he believes is a premature age (Peverley is 33). On the other hand, there are probably a few onlookers who are breathing a sigh of relief. Peverley’s “cardiac incident” was a truly frightening scene, and many were worried about the risks he might be taking if he resumed NHL play. Some of the choice might have been taken out of his hands, as it’s plausible that no GM wanted to roll the dice with his health. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/04/rich-peverley-retires-from-nhl-joins-stars-front-office/
Odd.
Aww. That's too sad. Very nice to see him in healthy shape. Good luck on your future, Peverley. This was the right choice though. :/
Chris
Awful news. Underrated, Under-appreciated, I'm glad he at least got to win a Cup before he hung them up.
Edlerberry
as versatile as higgins but also a beast on the dot and he could play any forward position anywhere from line 1 on a weak atlanta team with kovalchuck through line 4. character guy. hatedkid666
Was a great bottom-6 player. Sucks to see him have to retire early
Phil_314
Good to see he's doing okay. At this stage that's honestly more important than anything. The league doesn't need anymore premature death stories due to health (Zholtok/ Ripper/ Boogeyman/ Belak/ Montador...). All the best to him with this new lease on life! Coconuts
He had a pretty solid career, but it still sucks to see him hang em up so early. Good to see the Stars bringing him into the fold, it's nice to see he'll be sticking around the NHL is some form. All the best to him and his family, here's hoping he stays healthy.
