More than anything this off season id like to add some size. It’s easier by comparison to add size over a goal scorer and a top 4 dman

im soooo sick of being an easy team to play against!

teams might look at us as an easy 2 points, but they better not look forward to playing us!

Gagner for Kassian.

I think you can give up on Tram. By the time he finishes his contract there will be players taking his spot, and he'll be back to fighting for a job again and clearly he doesn't want that.

Hopefully we'll get more guys with an edge but can still provide offence.

Not to be too cheeky......but which RHD do are you absolutely " Certain" will be there, that Tryamkin will absolutely not be able to displace.....????

I hear this a lot..............from a lot of people............. but not many(none) have offered any help with this, or future lottery numbers! LOL

I really hope the Canucks brass are watching Winnipeg - Minnesota ,  Boston - Toronto , Anaheim - San Jose etc......

Playoff hockey is still heavy ASF.

Not really a new discussion. Here is a thread below from last week, same topic.

To answer your question; Benning is trying.  A physical component, if not completely embraced with our current line up?  Is certainly in Bennings DNA footprint for our team!

- We traded for & re-signed Gudbranson.

- Traded for & used Dorsett in a key role.

- Drafted & are developing Jake.

- Drafted Gadjovich, who is a net front agitator, has good skills in tight but also capable physical player, pugilist.

- Drafted Lind. Lets not underrate that he will be 6'1'' and aprox 200lbs with some speed when he reaches the NHL? Capable match up problem.

- We traded for puck pressure, puck hound specialists like Burrows in Motte & Leipsic. Can they catch hold? These are as valuable as physical players IMO!

- Drafted 6'3'' Brisbois. He may not be a ''physical player,'' but should easily be built to stand up to it in game play.

- We did acquire Sbisa in the past.

- Gaudette & Pettersson are extremely active & hard on the puck in their own right!

- HORVAT doesn't necessarily punish, but is near 220 lbs and can brush it off, not get phased by physicality either.

- Developed Gaunce, also 6'2'' or 6'3'' and 220 lbs. He occupies guys defensively very well.

- Edit, almost forgot we drafted Tryamkin. Hopefully he will be back. The ultimate example that we value this when opportunity presents?

Lets not forget speed and skill guys like Dahlen & Pettersson will mean physical guys will usually be on the bench? Or looking to pick up their jock straps. Example, nobody really believes Matt Martin can still chase Marchand or Pastrnak? So he's in the press box unless there is no better option.

And as opportunity presents, I absolutely believe we will be acquiring more physical players as well!

Last i looked CHI and PIT have six of the last ten cups, out of those squads the first CHI team and to a smaller degree PIT  first  cup team were a bit heavy, the rest relied on skill more than anything else to win.

Byfuglien, Guerin aside, these guys won on elite talent, that's what wins the majority of cups, hopefully Pettersson and Boeser will be our Kane/Toews, Crosby/Malkin.

Benning was part of a Cup winning team, I don't think he needs lessons on what it takes to be successful in the playoffs. Linden has also been to the big dance. Lets stop pretending like these guys are idiots just because media says so or because you can't circle jerk around a bunch of goons that can't score but at least they "don't get pushed around" :emot-parrot:

Totally agree.  We need some heavy, mean SOBs who can actually play the game to insulate our smaller skilled guys.  Plus, our smaller skilled guys need to be mentally tough, because they are going to get put through the meat grinder.

Not saying playoff hockey isn't intense but I see Nashville,  TB,  VGK doing just fine relying on mainly speed/skill.

Not to mention Malkin, Crosby, Kessel, Letang etc aren't physically intimidating either and have the last 2 cups.

This is such a stupid argument.

Just look at the top 3 teams in the league. Nashville, Tampa, and Vegas. They are all lead by small skilled players. Not by some goons.

Hell even Boston's top line are small skilled players. Marchand is dirty of course but he doesn't play like Byfuglien. He plays like Kucherov or Marchessault

Really glad someone sent management this wake up call.

I doubt that Benning and Green watch the playoffs or realize what playoff hockey is like.

We need a "big brother"!

Yeah bud management reads CDC everyday to get ideas

Nashville and VGK are playing pretty physical.

TB is the most skilled team in the league.

Considering we are in a division with SJS, ANA, CGY, LAK, VGK we need size. That's not to say we don't need skill as well.  Speed is necessary at this point.

You have to find a balance so that you're capable of matching up with any team well.

If we don't get any sort of size then I fear we might get intimidated by a team... again. Pushback is necessary and I am not talking just about the scoring type.

i try not to think how things might have turned out if the big russian had some time under green in the 1st year with utica?  Fingers still crossed we see big tram in canucks jersey once again

Yes, could have been interesting, but he didn't want that... think he saw the dollar signs, and it screwed his head up.

Find it quite funny to hear a lot of talk here about the need for bigger and meaner players.

While, I have been wanting same from our forward line, I find bringing up a video of 6'0 190lbs Kadri is a bloody joke.

Kadri is not tough...he is an opportunistic puke, who runs smaller players. Doesn't fight or stand up for his actions.... Remind me of Cooke...

Run Nylander or Marner as payback. These players are also small skilled players...

Jets has an Ehlers playing... remember him? Too small to play for Canucks, but still seems to be doing fine...

We'll see how JB sees it come draft day.... Will he go for a smaller skilled PMD to forward or a bigger allrounder D-man / Big tough forward.

Our coffin nails w Boston were 3 things... Injuries, we didn't score enough goals and some shocking officiating. The penalty to Daniel for being punched in the face, and Romes 4 game suspension stands out...

We don't really have anyone that can score either (tied for 5th fewest goals).  So, it's really a choice of:  not scoring AND getting pushed around vs. not scoring and NOT getting pushed around.

He didn't do it for the money.  At all.  The opposite in fact.  The rumour is that he earns far less now than he would be earning here.  He literally gave up millions of dollars to leave our team.  Think of how badly you'd have to hate it to give up millions of dollars playing a sport you love, just to get away from your team.

Why would you choose to not get pushed around, which lets be honest isn't even a thing that teams do to us it's just an overreaction to Marchand slapping our Captain silly 7 years ago, over trying to score more?
