  1. What a playoff debut!
  2. Good insight, it’s an interesting dynamic of the NCAA and euro league development path have guys play skilled roles but also test themselves against older more physically developed players. D-Petey seems ahead of the curve for an 19 year old in physical development so will be curious if it takes a lot more than 1 more year in Europe.
  3. With the SHL transfer agreement are we stuck developing d Petey in Sweden until we deem him NHL ready?
  4. I’d be disappointed if he’s not part of our top 8 NHL defence next year. From a quality of play perspective SHL is probably a tougher league than the AHL. Challenge for any player is making the jump to the best league and being able to get their game off but this player likely doesn’t have much to prove in the AHL.
  5. Fantastic that he can join Abby now, be interesting how they work him into the lineup.
  6. Did you have a look at our lineup? 2 free agent college dmen and Burroughs, half an ahl lineup on forward? We were never bottom 5 with Petey and Hughes playing nearly every game.
  7. Bo Horvat as a true 2 way Center is pretty laughable as much as people crap on +\- as a stat if you are always a minus you are a reason for that especially as a Center. Islander have a real expensive 2nd line Center
  8. I’m available if they want to set a record for 17 totally ok with a 1 day contract
  9. It’s an interesting time now historically the social norms were centred around the majority. As the broader community groups everywhere are more diverse ethnically and now individually we spend a lot of time highlighting our differences. It’s a major problem politically and socially that we aren’t celebrating what makes us the same. Honestly the trans community would be better off running a campaign that highlighted an individual let’s call them Sarah. Monday to Friday Sarah is an accountant. In there evenings they love watching the Canucks. There favourite beer is a bud light. When they are with their friends they dress flamboyantly but are a lot like you in every other way.
  10. That’s pretty harsh. Since the first player has opted out of jerseys nearly every team has atleast one player opting out. Everyone doesn’t have to agree on all things always. Hopefully what the nhl has gone through the last month or so is part of a broader conversation amongst the players association in the off season and the players can produce a better way to handle this. Notable to discuss who is supporting rather than wasting energy on this level opting not to.
  11. Don’t want to know what the score would have been without demko between the pipes. Play Delia half the remaining games get ready for 23-24
  12. The big thing is how players score, if you are relying on skating past people losing a step is a big problem. If you are a strong physical player the pavelski analogy is a good one.
  13. That and Bears slot being filled with one of the internally developed guys
  14. Good for him hopefully the uptrend sustained and he can finish the season on some high notes.
  15. Fuel is taxed at absurd levels which drives up the cost of everything else. For all the discussion on tax my opinion is get rid of income taxes and tax consumption of everything. It’s the fairest measure I think, if you are lower income you have less to spend you will be taxed less. Wealthy guess what spend what you make goes a long ways for most people. I suppose there might not be a good way to tax business other than on income.
  16. You say that but in the era of mortgage brokers and numerous investment firms not including credit unions Canada has tons of options outside the big 5 banks.
  17. I think that was probably the case. The real test will be next fall when they come back can they maintain the current level of buy in.
  18. Fitness versus body type. I have no doubt that he’s physically fit, you could argue that he might be too bulky. Upper body is probably too big but some of that might be his natural frame or he adds muscle mass faster than most.
  19. From a recent comparable standpoint how would he compare to Jonah Gadjovich
  20. Not to discount the NCAA but I wonder how much of that can be attributed to USA hockey seeing higher numbers of minor hockey players feeding the system with the growth in non traditional hockey markets? The NCAA does offer a better development path than the CHL. There are too many CHL teams and it would be a better development league for 19 and 20 year olds if there were fewer teams. Too often it’s a contest of biggest/strongest(physically developed) versus most skilled.
  21. Good chance he sticks as a 7-8 guy, low stress in our own end when he’s out there.
  22. He’s mastering the little things on the big ice.
  23. What’s really encouraging on his production is the team is very low scoring. Top player has 29 points in 49 games so points aren’t being inflated by playing with top scorers.
  24. What I was getting at is Mike is Cole’s dad and Cole would have been a hockey player regardless of where he grew up. The Sillinger boys played most of their minor hockey in Regina regardless of where he was born when his dad played NHL in Columbus.
