Who here is actually happy with the Hronek trade?
flat land fish replied to Odd.'s topic in Canucks Talk
We needed a top 4 d and got one, even better is the player is a right handed shot. We have a number of in-house players in development that have potential to fill in the gaps as d first dmen. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Akito Hirose

What are our scenarios where we can get Myers down to 15 minutes a game? Do we have a scenario where Myers-OEL could be the 3rd pair? -
[Proposal] Canucks and Leafs... oof..!
flat land fish replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Leafs are in a tough spot they need to trade one of the 11m guys, arguably Nylander raised his level more than the other 3. If they trade one of Matthew’s marner or Tavares they probably don’t get fair value given their big cap hits and relatively short terms. Honestly swapping a Matthew’s for an aho type would be the sort of deal they need. Don’t envy the leafs. -
For sure there are no sure bets, leafs you would argue about are on their second rebuild and it’s possible they bet on the wrong horses. I have a big belief in Petey and Demko am still a bit concerned whether Hughes can lead a dcore call me old school but I’d love a Hedman type. If demko is his best we are a solid playoff team need to find a way to keep him under 60 starts.

I can’t imagine it being that difficult to ship out one of Beau or Garland both are under $5mm. Ufa wingers are pretty bleak outside of Tyler bertuzzi unless you are after an aging Patrick Kane or injury prone taresenko. 4-5 million wingers might be decent value for what they bring.
-
We have a number of wingers garland, beaulivier, Boeser who are all tradeable what we get back might vary whether we retain a small % of their contract ie 20% ish. Tyler Myers might even go to a team trying to get to the cap floor at some point. The team was playing well without getting Hronek in the lineup. If OEL can come back looking like year one OEL lots to be excited about.

[Proposal] Bye Bye to Myers, Garland and Boeser
flat land fish replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
My opinion is because they are adding Bedard they will be more selective on who they bring in and will want more so guys that can be mentors and can actually play as opposed to what Arizona has traditionally done looking just for the best asset. Be interesting to see how things unfold after the playoffs. -

With Chicago landing number 1 have to imagine they are going to deploy some of that cap space to bring in some veterans to insulate Bedard with. Guys with 1-2 years left on their contract would probably be what they might target. High compete guy like Garland could have modest value 2nd/3rd rounder. -
They probably need to draft a center

Gabriel Landeskog to miss 23-24 Season

Has their been an nhl player successfully come back from this type of surgery? -
Team Canada saw our defensive metrics and pk stats right? There must be a lot less lustre to playing this then there once was.

Exactly the franchise has had incredibly poor luck as it relates to the lottery and some other things. I refuse to live like a victim on stuff like this. A year like this one we basically have everything to gain and nothing to lose through the lottery process. We will either draft another good player and if luck is on our side we will draft a spectacular one.

2023 Frank J. Selke Trophy finalists unveiled
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I hear what you are saying but the reporters in the west probably catch way more east coast games than east coast guys staying up late for the pacific time zone teams home games. More team success will be the thing that propels EP40 to individual trophies. -
I think it depends on where he is at physically as we don’t want him picking up another concussion rushing him to North America. Given where are NHL roster is at if there’s and opportunity for him to play in SHL and extend the clock on his ELC that might be best for the player and the ORG

[Signing] Canucks sign Akito Hirose
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Based on capfriendly the last 2 years of the contract are a modified NTC. Appears to be a 10 team no trade list. Presumably Myers only way to block a trade might be lost the 10 teams with the most cap space otherwise shouldn’t be too hard to trade even if some modest retention was needed. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Akito Hirose
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The teams trying to get to the cap floor or with lots of cap room would likely be amenable to a deal in principal being in place before sept 1 and executed shortly after that. -
Bo was also the beneficiary of having some great players around him on the power play. Teams have really tried taking away the Petey one timer play, honor millers shot off the wing and that’s without getting into the creative threat Hughes is. Based on the guys around him Horvat was getting way more space at the bumper spot than typical and full marks to him for being great at finishing those chances. On the islander PP they just don’t have the perimeter threats the Canucks have so horvat will need to adapt and score in other ways.

[Rumour] Nikita Tryamkin eyeing NHL return

Would the team signing tramlines be able to add bonuses to the contract to spread out the risk? -

All about confidence and consistency for Hogs, should be a super 3rd liner when he can bring that all together
