  1. As much as I like the Isles, kinda wish he signed in Edmonton. Ya hate to see talented players like McDavid and Draisaitl waste away. Brassard would have given them a 3rd line center allowing Nuge to play top 6 wing. But, nobody really wants to be in Edmonton even with a draw like McDavid. From what I hear the city is meh and the organization has been a joke for a long time. Good pick up for the Islanders though, low risk.
  2. Or keep him and actually have a really good 3rd line. Try out something like this Ferland Pettersson Boeser Miller Horvat Eriksson Baertschi Sutter Virtanen Pearson Beagle Leivo Something tells me Eriksson will end up on the 4th line, then Roussel will come back and he'll be a healthy scratch. But it doesn't hurt to try him out with Miller and Bo.
  3. I mean, he was played everywhere with everyone last season. And failed to produce at a decent rate. Petey and Boeser are good, but not good enough to make a top 6 player outta Eriksson. He doesn't forecheck enough to work with Petey and Boeser and last season he didn't score or have the playmaking ability to work with Bo and Pearson. Although. Maybe with Miller on LW and Eriksson on RW a Bo, Miller and Eriksson line might work.
  4. Gonna be one of the more scrutinized acquisitions in all likelihood. Given we traded a 1st rounder for him. But I think he'll be one of the bigger contributors this season. Including Hughes. Hughes does most if not all his damage in scoring. Miller will give you physicality, playmaking, and two way play. He'll be a factor in any game even if he's not scoring. If anything he'll likely be a unsung hero candidate after this season. I am excited to see how this team does this season. Not a fan of how many lefties are on the team (specifically those projected to be in the top 6) but hey, if it works who cares?
  5. A healthy Boeser I think can hit 70+. But everything else seems pretty fine for the Canucks. 54 for Miller is interesting. Similar to his numbers in NY. That'd be a nice jump in prior top 6 production from guys we had there like Goldy and Leivo. They filled in decently but are not top 6 players.
  6. Henrik Sedin throughout most of his career scored mostly 10-15 goals a season. Almost like context matters, Huh? Sutter is making almost as much and he hasn’t scored 40 points at all since he’s been with us. White is their 2nd line center. It’s a solid deal. If he improves on last season it’s a bargain.
  7. Shorter term version of Risto’s deal. Interesting. I like Werenski, maybe he’s inching his way to UFA to sign with Detroit
  8. I am not arguing that, but to use the "he is doing it for his family" line is a bit of a joke. I am sure his family can get by with 10mil and not the 11mil he is probably after. It's not about his family at that point it's just greed. And it's his right to be greedy, but I disagree with trying to make him out to be some struggling guy trying to feed his family.
  9. Fat no thanks. We don't need the cap that badly. We can manage Boeser this season easily enough and we have cap hits coming off the books next summer and the summer after. We'll be fine without risking two top 10 picks.
  10. Cause 10mil per just won't be enough for feed his family. Needs that 11.1658mil contract or whatever. Also going to Switzerland is better for his family in what regard?
  11. Character: Boeser Consistency: Boeser Flow: I mean, Laine's hair line is in the same place as his consistency Cost: Very likely Boeser, but we'll see Sure Laine could score 50 goals one day, but if they come in 25-30 games is it really more valuable than a guy that scores 35-40 goals and shows up to play for 60+ games? Laine scores a lot but when you disappear more often than not those goals don't account for much when put into perspective. For the NBA fans he is the equivalent of a Russell Westbrook, yeah the stat line looks nice but he's not a player you put all your chips on to win a championship with. Hockey is a different sport I get that but I'd take Boeser 9 times outta 10 over Laine, and the 10th time I only take Laine outta curiosity on whether or not he can hit 60-70+ with Petey feeding him the puck.
  12. On the bright side with so many overlooking Juolevi is he has no real pressure. For the most part people either aren't paying attention to him or just called him a bum and moved on to fawning over some other prospect, specifically Hughes. Gives Juolevi breathing room to just play his game and keep on developing. Just a little silver lining in it all. Lol. A luxury none of our other upper prospects have. It's been 5 years since Jake's draft and people are still holding his feet to the fire. Hughes has the entire hopes of Canuck nation on his shoulders to fix this defense. Pettersson is considered a god and rightfully so given everything he's touched the last couple seasons has turned to gold [enter picture of Petey painted gold]. Podkolzin's stock/expectations has risen super high here, at least in comparison to before the draft when seemingly nobody wanted anything to do with him. Boeser is our purest goal scorer at the moment and the goal prediction/expectation thread had lots of people put him at 40 goals this season. Juolevi is the forgotten middle child. Free to just play hockey. I kinda like that, less eyes to deconstruct every little thing he does. Rooting for the kid. He's got the skills to turn some heads this season.
  13. Yeah, this is true. People are entitled to an opinion. I just feel like the negatives are overstated. Like, are his free agent signings home runs? No. I wouldn't argue that. I understand Schaller, Gagner and Eriksson haven't been particular good but they haven't sunk the team like most fans and media make it sound. Eriksson deal is very rough but one super bad contract doesn't make Benning "bad" at free agents like so many people seem to claim. The have either not mattered in the grand scheme of things or they have been little wins for the team like Roussel, Stecher and Beagle.
  14. The vibes I was getting, especially after reading the comment section. Lol. I am a conspiracy theorist. I seen the connections.
  15. He did say there were some promotions going around that they should be announcing in the coming weeks. Still felt off putting they way they kept saying he needed help. Maybe I am just a narcissist and I am assuming the media has ill-intent with their repeating that same question.
  16. Just listened to Benning's presser about his extension. There was like 3-4 questions back to back about "getting some help in the front office" or a President of hockey ops. These idiots still probably think he's bad at free agent signings and trades. Then I read the comment section and seen fans commenting about how he is bad at trades and free agent signings. Youtube is just as bad as Twitter at this point.
  17. I really am curious if Isles' fans hate on Dal Colle half as much as CDC hates on Jake.
  18. Seems like a heavy Russian contingent going on with Colorado, or maybe I am crazy.
  19. Juolevi below DiPietro, Hoglander and Woo. LOL. Not sure I'd have him that far down my list but hey, I don't get paid to be wrong.
  20. Doesn't have the same skating. Ovi at 6'3 230 has unbelievable speed. Guy is a train.
  21. I been saying all summer I believe in this team. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to pass one or both of San Jose or Calgary for a divisional spot.
  22. The fact he had a Duchene to trade already means he had more to work with than Benning. Kesler was by far our best trade chip and we only had two teams he’d accept a trade to. Also Sakic had a MacKinnon and a Landeskog to build around when he officially became GM which was after the 12/13 season I believe. We just had Bo when Benning signed on.
