Sorry, Interstellar still sucks in my books even though I am trying my darnedest to like it after letting it stew for half a week. Checked out some other movies:
Brothers (2009): 5/10
Majority of the movie was cliche after cliche, especially with chick flick acoustic guitar strumming in the background. I expected something grim and dark, it was a slightly grittier version of Dear John. Things got rolling with 75% of the movie done. Natalie Portman was her usual, doing nothing but crying to the camera. Tobey Maguire was robbed of earnest critical acclaim because of how shitty this movie was, despite his best efforts (what a scene):
The Babadook: Hard to rate horror movies simply because I can never tell if being good for the genre is good enough for the movie to stand on its own. Regardless, it was a good thrill and I enjoyed the We Need to Talk About Kevin elements.
The Taking of Deborah Logan: 4/10
ran into a terrifying gif on reddit from a scene, got excited and downloaded the movie (especially after a streak of ONE decent recent horror movie). Was disappointed because the scene from the gif was all that was good in the movie. Waste of time.
Next up: Blue is the Warmest Colour
Has anyone watched this here? I've read the synopsis and it seems so...underwhelming and stupid. Reviews hail it as messianic. I don't know, the sex is way over the top too.
