  1. Chaos giraffe and Daddy Schenn are going no where! Both had great seasons.
  2. Hey everyone Just wanted to say thanks for all the good conversations this season. Our team really rebounded this year and Bruce has all the players geared up and ready for next year’s playoffs. I bet the players all come back hungry and all have monster off-seasons ready to go. Also a friendly reminder as I’ve seen a lot of well that’s it for hockey till next season posts here…let’s not forget about our Abby Nucks! They did make the playoffs and they need all of us to support and cheer them on too! The Calder cup would be a massive achievement for the team and all it’s prospects. So my season is not done and I’m hoping for a long Calder cup push from our boys down on the farm. Having Podz on the farm is gonna be huge for them! Cheers all, great season. Happy to see winning hockey in Vancouver again.
  3. Hopefully our legend for long term too. I’d love to see him back on a 6 or 7 year deal. However I have a gut feeling he signs a 5 year deal. This will allow him to go to a contending team while he still has some juice left in the tank. If things don’t go well here in the next few seasons, anything over 5 years and his big contract will get harder and harder to trade.
  4. Well said Deb, I think Miller has stated several times already this year that he appreciates the opportunity given to him by the team to be a leader and a top line player. They gave him that opportunity when New York and Tampa both did not. Loyalty does matter somewhat in this circumstance I think.
  5. Well said, plus rod bringing the cup back to the island again would be sweet. They are my team in the east as well.
  6. My favourite player when I was a kid was Geoff Sanderson (can’t even remember why lol) long time Whaler. Loved the jerseys. I wonder with all the retro jerseys making a come back if Carolina would pay tribute to those days? I’d buy that jersey in a heart beat.
  7. One good thing is their team owner just happens to be a real estate mogul so I’m sure they have ways to find some good living arrangements for these guys. Good point tho, I don’t think an AHL vet on a 70 k a year deal would be able to afford to buy anywhere around the area.
  8. The team just lost Hirano, they are playing ECHL signings throughout the roster as they are short on forwards. Petan and Dries are up with big club. I think it’s just due to the forward shortage they have. That being said the RD spot is deep on the team so it pushed Woo down. He has had an ok season but nothing impressive. However he actually has done a really good job playing forward and the versatility will help him moving forward. I still think he has the game to one day make the NHL but injuries have really set him back. When Cull was playing Woo and Rathbone together I thought they looked great and fed off each other well. Woo was always willing to muck it up with anyone who got too rough on bone…but Cull obviously decided to split them up. Hoping Woo comes back next season and has a full healthy run at it. That will help us evaluate him better going forward.
  9. Good come back win by baby nucks! Another 5-4 win in over time against the team that has given them fits all year. The Heat are a top team and they went toe to toe with them no problem. Our baby nucks have really come together. We’re one of the top teams in the AHL in the back half of the season.
  10. Agreed, he was very shaky defensively at the start but his learning curve has been very steep since he arrived, heck he even can lay the body well. He has made a few good hits that surprised me. His shot is definitely something other teams need to watch out for, he can rip it. I hope the Canucks have seen enough to offer him an AHL contract next year. And would love to see him get a cup of coffee in the nhl if he deserves it. He was tearing up the ECHL this season so he has nothing left to prove down there.
  11. He has been a good stop gap in our forward ranks all year. Him finally caching in on the PP recently is very well earned. He may not be back with us next year but he filled a need and has never complained. True pro.
  12. Congrats Martin! This is great news. Nice cost controlled back up. He absolutely deserves it. Abby nucks are gonna go far in the Calder cup playoffs because him and Mikey D are playing solid right now. Martin fills a much needed gap in our goalie pipeline as we wait for Dipietro to hopefully turn into a solid nhl back up.
  13. Playoff hockey is gonna be fun to watch this year. I don’t care if it’s not the NHL. Trent Cull has the baby nucks dialed in. They are thrashing the Gulls right now and have been playing very very good hockey down the stretch. Podz is gonna be so fun to watch as well. I hope anyone who doesn’t watch the AHL live app at least goes online and pays for a playoffs package to watch our baby nucks play this year and support the team. Sure the camera views are not the best, but the product on the ice is still great to watch! Pumped! I want a Calder cup!!
  14. Honestly hard to say, when you see him in interviews he doesn’t look 190 but maybe he is? He’s built like Hughes. Small upper body and horse legs on the bottom lol. If I were to bet he is in the 180 pound area.
  15. Haha for sure, I just mean he’s got that shot like Makar does. It’s a laser. The way Makar walks the blue line and gets hits shots off is amazing to watch. Rathbone does remind me of him in that respect. I’m definitely not saying he will be Makar but he plays like him I think. I’ll take Makar light and Hughes in the PP. However I have to contain my excitement as it’s not like Rathbone has proven himself like that in the NHL. But a guy can dream!
  16. For a smaller guy he has such a powerful shot. His goal last night was ridiculous, I wonder what that clocked in at speed wise!? If he can keep his game solid in the NHL he would be like our version of Makar. He is just as agile as him and knows when and where to get his shot off. To have both Hughes and Bone making plays on the blue line on the PP would all be every Canucks fans wet dream haha. One can wish we will be so lucky!
  17. I seen the hit live. Yes the hit was dirty, but Rathbone did get caught off guard as well. My worry was with his awareness along the boards. You don’t turn your numbers to a guy like Scevior he will still finish his hit. Rathbone tried to get fancy and turn out of the hit last second and he got caught trying to make a play and got smashed into the boards. Still a dirty hit, but at that moment Jack needed to brace himself for the hit, not try to twist away and make a play. It was that kind of awareness I was worried about with him. Knowing how to keep himself safe in a bad play against a goon trying to finish his check. This is what I’ve been watching for since he got back into the line up. He has learned from that hit and I have not seen him get into that kind of situation since, which is pretty amazing really, he is a super quick learner.
  18. For sure, Bone is showing he does not belong in the AHL. His injuries worry me a bit but this season he has proved he is a dynamic puck moving dman and even tho he has had some injury set backs he continues to come back strong every time and with better awareness. This has proven to me that he can play at the nhl level. I’ve been worried about him getting out muscled on plays but his escapability and defensive awareness has improved throughout the year…now he’s just making his opponents look silly out there. The bone is ready. But letting him dominate in this years AHLs playoffs will be fun to watch. Also it’s another big test for him like the nhl the zebras start putting the whistle away come the AHL post season.
  19. It would be a treat to watch. Bone has that killer instinct with his shot, where Hughes doesn’t. Will be sweet to watch that! Sign me up
  20. Laval definitely played a better game but Mikey Dipietro stood on his head tonight. Great to see this tandem of Martin and Mikey both great goalies. This teams gonna do some damage in the AHL playoffs.,,then you add in Podz after Vancouvers season is done. I’m drooling of seeing Podz and Klim on the same line. Could be a great connection there.
  21. I’m loving that they finally have Woo and Rathbone playing on the same line again as last year. They make a great potential future pairing. They compliment each other well and Woo has always handled the rough stuff if anyone gets in Rathbones grill. We haven’t seen them play much together this year due to injuries to the both of them. I can definitely see a future 3rd pairing of Woo and Bone on the big club.
  22. Halak has earned another start. No doubt about that. You want your backup to feel confident too. And to throw both goalies at the blues is a smart decision I think. Yes every game is a must win right now, but they still gotta stay as fresh and rested as they can down this stretch. Managing every players work load is a smart approach. We can’t afford to burn out. Good luck we have a pretty savvy coach at the helm!…also one thing of note, everyone posting about our PK improving recently, to me it sure looks a lot better now that Scotty Walker has returned to the team. He is making a difference in that department big time imo. No wonder Bruce raves about him. GCG!
  23. Really hoping we sign this guy soon. I’ve been looking forward to this prospect for a while now. It’s going to be an interesting summer for our unsigned talent. There are a few names out there that I want to see in Abby or on the big club…Karlsson, Jasek, Utunen, Tryamkin (worth another shot). All 4 could really bolster our depth.
