  1. Hopefully you're like most Canuck fans. Express your frustration about what you think is wrong, swear against the team, wait for the lottery, watch the draft, wait for free agency, express exasperation about signings, and be back on for spring training next year.
  2. Topics of interest: 1. Buyouts are going to be a key strategy this offseason. Management has 3 available buyouts. Obvious candidates are Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussel 2. Wants 3 scoring lines. With limited resources, Who can JB bring in to make that happen? 3. Ian Clarke The way Benning addressed the question made it sound unlikely that he returns.
  3. QH is a poor defensemen because he can't play defense. Be cool to see him try a forward position though.
  4. Hoglander, Boeser, Horvat, Rathbone, all positives.
  5. I don't know, maybe I'm just boo hooing after a crappy season. One thing's for sure. This offseason will be very interesting.
  6. My predictions for next seasons lineup. Hoglander Pettersson Boeser Pearson Horvat Podkolzin Hughes Myers Rathbone Juolevi Demko That is all I'm confident in predicting for next season It's rumored that there are players in the lineup who want to be traded. I believe Miller, Schmidt, and Holtby are three of them Apart from Rathbone, I don't know that any of our other prospects are ready (maybe Gadjovich). At the end of the day, I have no idea what's going to happen for next season.
  7. 1. If Virtanen is found guilty, he should qualify for contract termination. No buy out needed. 2. In my opinion, if Sutter is re-signed, it will be because Benning couldn't find anyone else foolish enough to sign here. 3. This may be true but, if he does make it through the ED without being picked up, he is still under contract until 22-23 and could, very well be on our blueline next season.. 4. With players rumored to be asking for trades this offseason, I find it hard to believe Benning's 2 year timeline to be realistic. The only thing I like about his statement is that it puts a timeline on his tenure. Succeed or be gone. Of course FA would probably consider an eighth place team as being a contender, and the real is that we spend the next 9 years as a bottom feeding playoff team, which is where the Canucks have spent most of their existence. 60 years without a cup anyone? 5. Who cares? I believe The Acquilinis and Jim Benning have created a tire fire in Vancouver, much reminiscent of the Maple Leafs of the md 2000s. We may be ahead of the Buffalo Sabres but it's not by much and that could change by the time JBs self imposed timeline is up. Right now I look at this Ownership/management group as weak and incompetent. Ownership doesn'tg appear to care about it's fanbase and the manager often looks like a deer caught in the headlights. For a manager to ask for players to wait and for ownership to be ok with that is egregious, offensive, and unprofessional. Season ticket holders are refusing to renew their tickets and this is seeming to have little impact on ownership. It really is becoming a joke. I've been a Canuck fan since I was old enough to understand hockey (45 years). There have been a lot of trying times with this team but nothing like I've witnessed this year. I really hate to say this but, I am really having problems supporting this team. .
  8. So, you think we're better because the rest of the division might suck?
  9. The only ray of sunshine I give to Benning lovers is that Pettersson was injured for most of the season. Other then that though, this season was all bad. I don't think there was any point at which I thought this team was deserving of a playoff spot. That's all on JB.
  10. Seth Jones is a player who is, very much, on my radar. A big, right shot defender who can put up points and defend well. If, in fact, Jones would be considered in a deal, Kekalainen has an asset he could get a big haul with. To try and throw a potential disaster in Virtanen, an unproven in Lind, a mid round pick, and a protected first round pick in a weak draft, could be considered an insult. There is a way that we can turn the tables in a deal. Quinn Hughes for Seth Jones and their first in this years draft and next year. The angle on this deal is that th Blue Jackets need a dynamic powerplay defender that can feed Laine from the point nightly. QH is that. I make QH available because I see a great partnership in Rathbone and Jones. Rathbone, at least early, is showing to be a much better defender and makes better blueline decisions. Defense is something QH is lacking. I am much more comfortable with him on the blueline. I am also not comfortable with our defense becoming small. Quinn Hughes is the much younger defender and is superior in offense. He would be in Columbus for many years. I think the firsts coming to us is fair. Jones brings two way play with good offensive numbers and the size to be effective in the defensive zone. He is also a right shot which is something we desperately need. As I also said he's older and won't have the shelf life that Hughes will. I see it as a win win for both sides.
  11. If there's one obvious statement to be said about The Vancouver Canucks, it's that this team is not close to being a competitor. We are still, very much in draft/develop mode. We have too many glaring holes in all areas of our game except between the pipes. Imo, the only untouchables (for now) are: Thatcher Demko Bo Horvat Brock Boeser Nils Hoglander Elias Pettersson Jack Rathbone Vasilli Podkolzin Kole Lind Jonah Gadjovich Jett Woo Lukas Jasek Linus Karlsson All others should be,made available, with draft picks and prospects being the desired returns. The most glaring omission from my untouchable list is Quinn Hughes. I, like everyone else, have no problem with his offensive production. It's his total lack of defensive ability that makes him an expendable. His defensive woes are only magnified by his average ice time of 22 minutes. In fact, I believe, he is the biggest weakness on our blueline. Travis Green is trying to develop a team that plays a full 200 foot game. QH does not fit this. He fits a team that uses an, all offense strategy. I like NJ or Allain Vigneult and Philly. The other name is JT Miller. At 28, Miller does not fit the development strategy but, he has shown that he is a top-six forward with center ability. He could be an attractive piece for Minnesota, St. Louis, or Dallas. Stepping back also allows all the bad contracts to expire. I must also, once again, express my desire to see JB fired. Still being a bottom feeder after 7 years is inexcusable. I believe a fresh outlook is needed to move this team forward.
  12. The funny thing is, not only is it untrue, but, the comments are coming from the most racist province in Canada, rivaling the most racist states in America. I used to live there and worked in the gas fields. I've never heard filth like they can talk, not only about different ethnicities but also the LGBTQ community and children. Obviously, it doesn't apply to all Albertans but, imo, there's a higher percentage of racists, bigots, chauvinists, and self-absorbed narcissist's that make even the most arrogant Ontarian look like a pussycat. They should look in the mirror before throwing out racism as reasoning for our displeasure. As for the suspension; it's a joke and shows the true bias that exists in the NHL. Macewen, a relative nobody in the league is punished for, what amounts to a nudge that didn't even make contact, on a player who is a rising star. Parros grossly botched the Wilson affair and now has an opportunity to, laughably, try to save his image (which isn't working) so he throws a joke of a suspension at Macewen. Unfortunately, all we can do is laugh at Parros for the moron he is and move on.
  13. Is he available for tomorrow?
  14. Judging by their play, it is very possible that we lose out and go 0-11 in these last games. Anaheim is poised to lose their last games and New Jersey may win one more against Philly. If this did happen, we'd be the fourth seed in the draft lottery with the odds having us picking 5th.
  15. Yup. Scouting sites were citing attitude problems as con to drafting him. If these guys had it as part of their criticisms, one would think those in the know would see it.
  16. Other than my miss on Shinkaruk, I disagree on all points. Oh, and I can now replace Shinkaruk with Nikita Tryamkin.
  17. Oh well. Not too worried about it. Wasn't too into his bad attitude anyway. Good riddance. Time to move on to the players that want to be here.
