  1. Yea, a little misunderstanding of the situation. But, can't think of many teams that would touch a player who is under investigation for sexual misconduct until the situations been resolved and only if the verdict is in his favor.
  2. This one really sux, as he was on my wishlist.
  3. The biggest question mark with any proposal involving JV is that, if he is convicted of sexual assault, then he will not be able to cross the border and his career will be over.
  4. Khaira, imo, makes a lot of sense. Big, physical, and versatile. I see him as a fourth line winger who can move up to a third line role to cover for injuries.
  5. I think it's totally within his reach.
  6. I just heard that too. Who's the wannabe spreading fake news? The return would have to be obscene type. Look forward to seeing him improve on his totals of last season. Predicting 75 to 80 pnts for "The Flow" next year.
  7. I am aware. You do realize that final four teams were four of the biggest teams in the league. That's not a coincidence. I believe that, until we start addressing the lack of aggression in our lineup, we will be a good regular season team but will be a frustrating team to watch in the playoffs and will not win a cup with the current core.
  8. The Vancouver Canucks have a lot of needs but, yes, the focus should still be draft and develop. JB has had great success with top ten picks coming directly into the NHL but, I am not convinced that, at least, one of them is what we need. If anything has been proven time and time again, it's that size does matter when it comes to winning championships due to the increased physical nature that comes with playoff hockey. Yes, there have been a few smaller players that have persevered in the past and provided key moments in winning a championship ( ie. Rocket Richard, Theo Fleury, Marty St. Louis) but, they are far and few between. I fear that, although JB has amassed some good talent, he's focused too much on skill and speed and not enough on the size and physicality that wins. On the positive side, I see two smaller players on our team that possess the attributes needed for them to have success on the big stage. Nils Hoglander- What can be said about this kids will and determination? He pushes through body checks like he's 6'4, He goes into scrums and, more often then not, comes out with the puck, he plays with an edge that most smaller players avoid, he scores, makes big plays that make a difference and small plays with big outcomes. I am really excited to see what he brings in a full season. Jack Rathbone- Although it was a short showcase, JR showed his abilities at both ends of the ice. He, like Hoglander is not afraid of the physical side of the game and is willing to engage the opposition in the defensive zone. He provided offence in his 8 games of play and showed the ability to make smart decisions with the puck. Like Hoglander, I am very excited to see him in a full season. Quinn Hughes- Now for my, highly critical and, unpopular take on our premiere defender. QH came as advertised. Highly skilled with the puck. Provides a blueline offensive threat every time he's on the ice and can bring fans to their feet. All that's great but, unfortunately, all this comes at a price with him. He's prone to bad decision making when pinching to keep plays alive, he's not overly physical, and he doesn't defend with the same enthusiasm that he has when in the offensive zone. For me, this is a great concern. I've always maintained that a defensemen's primary concern should always be on the defensive side of the red line. Take opportunities when presented but never at the expense of defensive responsibilities. QH, imo, spends too much time playing like a fourth forward and must pay more attention to his defensive play. Yes, this may take away from his offensive numbers but it would, imo, make him a better blueliner. I would rather have a 40 pnt Quinn Hughes with great defensive awareness then a 60 pnt Quinn Hughes that gives up just as pnts as he gets. Of all the defenders on the ice last season, I don't recall seeing anyone hanging his head more as opponents celebrated goals then him. This does not, however, mean all is doom and gloom with Mr. Hughes. Ne has made it clear that he's aware of his defensive deficiencies and the need for him to make the needed adjustments to fully round out his game and become reliable in front of his goalie. I like his attitude and maturity in admitting this and really want to see him succeed in his quest to become a complete player. Having three smaller players on the team, imo, creates a necessity to, now, add size, grit and, a lot of bad attitude to to team that showed way too much complacency last season. I am really hoping Podkolzin brings the same sandpaper game he showed in Russia. We need a guy like Gadjovich to develop into an everyday NHLer. My wishlist for this draft include players like McTavish, Pastujov, Mailloux, and Scmidt, specifically because they play a gritty, mean-spirited game that we need to fill out our roster. I am hoping that JB stays away from the ufa market this year and concentrate more on adding young depth players and prospects. We have our young superstars; now it's time to build around them and provide the support that will allow them to fully make use of their skills.
  9. I don't think there's any scenario where trading a ninth OA pick makes sense. We are still many pieces away from being a contender. Drafting should still be the strategy for the Canucks. As for ninth OA, as a sweetener? Maybe in a Draisitl deal, or Barkov. It would have to be for somebody pretty special.
  10. I think it's a mix of our top prospects coming directly to the team rather then spending time developing at lower levels and a lot of high end players who are in win now mode. A lot of the time, it's veterans with nice that become available. Most of them don't want to come to a team that isn't ready to truly compete for a cup. In the case of Jones, he's stated a desire to test free agency. I know that if I were gm, trading for a player with an uncertain future would not be something I'd be willing to do. Of course if agreed to a new deal, I'd be more inclined to do a trade but rumor has it, he has certain destinations in mind and Canada isn't among them. Also, some players don't like high pressure markets. Vancouver is said to be second in that category, behind only Montreal.
  11. I'd have issue giving up 4 1sts for McJesus. 4 1sts for Miller would be a ridiculous ask and get laughed at.
  12. My favorite fit for Miller is with Minny. They need a top six center. Miller has proven he can play the middle effectively. We need a RD. JT Miller to Minny for Matt Dumba, Ryan O Rourke, and the 21stOA 2021 This deal nets us a defender for now and one for down the road. Both bring much needed blueline physicality. We also get another 1st rounder to add another prospect, which is always welcome. Minnesota is in, win now mode. Miller has proven he can play a very effective pivot role, putting up points and providing a little physicality from the forward position. I look at this as a win win for both teams.
  13. Nope. not trading the 9OA for a defender whom, I don't believe, I get, at least a full 8 year contract of effective service. Now, if it were 9OA for Parayko and the 16OA, my ears perk up. If McTavish, Clarke, and Eklund are all off the board, I would be looking to move down and pick up extras. Parayko would be a nice, veteran addition. At 16, I'm looking to grab Sasha Pastujov. High skill, edgy player who needs a couple seasons to refine his impressive skillset. Profected to be a top six winger. He's been likened to the likes of Blake Wheeler and Matthew Tkachuk.
  14. Buf- Owen Power. Great duo in the making in Power and Dahlin. Sea- Matt Beniers. Great 2 way game. Reliable in all game situations, Can put up plenty of points. Ana- Mason McTavish. Heartbreaker here as I want him at 9 but, his game is, very much, of the Getzlaf mold. Strong, physical, relentless forechecking. Can play center or wing. NJ- No surprise here, Luke Hughes. A reliable, all situation defender who can put up points. CBJ- Brandt Clarke. With Jones, more than likely out, Clarke will begin the rebuild of CBJ's blueline. Werenski, Clarke should be a pretty potent duo Det- Simon Edvinsson. Big defensive blueliner who will compliment Seider nicely. SJ- Kent Johnson. San Jose's forward core is aging and is screaming for a star center. Johnson is definitely star potential and will bring fans to their feet in The Shark Tank. La- Jesper Wallstedt. LA has a deep pool of forwards and defenders. Now, they add their franchise backstop. Van- William Eklund- Solid two position forward with big upside. Another solid player that falls into our waiting arms.
  15. My want is McTavish. A solid, physical player who, imo, could round out a very deep center core or can also add to the wing position. McTavish Petey Boeser Hoglander Horvat Podkolzin Pearson Miller Lockwood Motte Lind Macewen Gadjovich It would be awesome to be watching that lineup in a couple years time. That's a recipe for success. Ten of thirteen forwards drafted and developed in Vancouver's system. All bring different skillsets to the lineup that enhance the team identity. However, I fear my hopes for this draft could be shattered as I believe McTavish could go as high as third and will be off the board for sure by ninth. If this happens, I feel our defensive needs could be better addressed through trade using the ninth pick.
  16. Good, skilled young players but undersized. We already have a lot of undersized skill and speed. Size is an issue with our team and it does matter. Schmidt is much better then he showed. I believe he will be a much improved player next season. Imo, JB needs to start adding aggressive size to our lineup with more attention being paid to our blueline. I'm looking at guys like Erik Cernak, Kevin Bahl, Braden Schneider, Ryan O Rourke, and Jordan Greenway and hope JB, seriously looks at offer sheeting Darnell Nurse if he gets to free agency next year. It's also a big reason I want McTavish at this draft. We seriously lack in the physical facet of the game. If the 9th pick is dealt, I really hope size and aggression play a big factor in it.
  17. I always thought "The Steamer" was a stinker.
  18. This is the low risk factor but, as imaginary GM, I'm betting on him being much more. If the high reward factor isn't there, I keep the pick.
  19. Scanning through teams that may have to expose a good, young player, I came across 24 year old Mathieu Joseph. LW/RW 19 pnts in 56, regular season, games while averaging 10:56 ice time. That's pretty impressive, given his limited role on a stacked team. With the ED coming soon, the Lightning will be making some tough decisions. Getting compensation for players they may have to expose would, obviously be of great interest. 2021 3rd round pick for Mathieu Joseph With so many holes still remaining in our lineup, I find it very difficult to believe Green couldn't find him a fit in our top six.
  20. And he can play. Some are saying he might go late first. The only reason, it seems, that he's a second round prospect comes from the fact that he may need a couple seasons of development. There's a lot of top four potential in this kid.
