  1. This is the guy I want in the second round. Sasha Pastujov is a close second though.
  2. 1. Like the Hamilton deal. Numbers would make Vancity a solid contender for his services. Takes him to 34 years old. Also a good number. Haula may get a bit more. Thinking 7 is more the number on a short term deal for Petey. Sets him up for renegotiations when cap is projected to go up again. 2. Parayko is the type of defender we need but, at 21, Hughes is much younger and brings a lot more shelf life and scoring ability then Parayko. I'd also be wanting an "A Level" prospect. 3. Rathbone, for me at least, is too intriguing a player to trade away. In this scenario, dealing Hughes affords us one small defender. Jack's game is more rounded out than Quinn's. Pairing him with Hamilton could be substantially beneficial to him. 4. Really hoping McTavish is there at 9. If we did get a second first rounder, I think it would be a great spot to take a chance on someone like Sasha Pastujov. Kid's a gamer. Could be another Podkolzin stylle player. One scout nas him compared to Matthew Tkachuk, in that he plays a rough physical style, a skillset we could definitely use more of. Has boom or bust written all over him. 5. Gadjovich is on my protected list, making this part of the proposal undesirable to me. 6. I think Boeser's qualifying offer is set at 7.5. Overall, I see these deals as fair, for the most part. If, in the magical world of make believe, these deals ever did come to fruition, my only concern would be the age of our new defensive look, otherwise, not bad.
  3. Sad thing. Kid's got all the talent in the world. IQ, skills, grit; if only he could real in the crap antics that don't play in the NHL, he'd be a dominant force in the league. Maybe a fresh start helps him to grow up a bit.
  4. 7 years x 6 mil. Lol If he signed that, I'd be so thankful to them for getting us a great deal. Might even send em a fruit basket.
  5. 1. Zacha is definitely a conversation but I'd rather discuss Kevin Bahl then Jesper Bratt. and I'd make the pick rather then trade it. 9yh pick- Mason McTavish (hopefully) 15th pick- Sasha Pastujov (high risk/high reward) 2. Rumor had it at the TDL, Nashville was looking for a pretty big haul for ME, involving two prospects and a first rounder. This would seem to indicate, Schmidt's too old to be of interest to them. I , also, highly doubt they'd be interested in an underachieving problem child in JV. the sixth round pick is irrelevant. The asking price is simply too rich for a still developing team like ours. 3. As stated above; would rather make the pick then trade it. 4. Beags may be done and could finish his career on LTIR. Let Roussel play out his contract on the fourth line and move on..
  6. The question as to what the Canucks need most, positionally, is a complex one. JB has assembled good pieces for this team to build around but, they seem scattered and lack clarity as to where they fit. Acquiring Miller was a great move and he did solidify a top line that was able to lead this team in offense but, with Petey's injury last season, Miller's move to center seemed a seemless transition and he looked quite comfortable there. His season ending interview confirmed his desire to stay there and I have to agree. Imo, he should be our 3C. However, this opens a hole at 1LW. The simple solution may be to move Hoglander to that position but, that leaves a hole at 2RW. Rumor has it, JB may be interested in Sam Reinhart but a first round pick is a nonstarter for me; not for one season of improved play. Too risky, in my opinion. In fact, I am very intrigued by Mason McTavish at ninth over all ( if he's there). A big, physical offensive forward that can play center or LW. He still has work to do skillwise but, with proper development, he's projected, at the very least, a top nine forward with a very Horvat like skillset. We could certainly use that. Unfortunately, JB has set a timeline for this team to succeed at two years. Given what we have, this, to me, seems a bit unrealistic and opens up the very real possibility of rash decisions and more bad moves. Our bottom six is a mess with bad contracts, aging players and ineffective players. Our defense is, also, a big question mark. We have some skilled, young defenders, no doubt but, there's very little cohesion and size is an issue. Hughes is a highly skilled offensive player but has very little defensive ability. Rathbone is a smallish defensemen that I am more comfortable with due to his willingness to get involved defensively and not shy away from the physical side of the game. He may not be the prolific scorer that Hughes is but I see a more complete player in Rathbone. Another concern is that all our skill on the blueline is on the left side leading to an imbalance on defense. This is what I have for next season so far. Hoglander Petey Boeser Pearson Horvat ? ? Miller. Podkolzin Motte ? ? Hughes ? Rathbone ? Joulevi Myers Demko Imo, there are too many holes in this lineup to offer an opinion as to what we need most. No matter what JB adds, it is needed. Center, winger, defensemen, we need it. My only hope is that the adds are determined by logic and not haste.
  7. 1. Fire myself. 2.Move Miller to center, creating a trio of Petey, Horvat, and Miller. 3. Draft, at least, two of Mason McTavish, Sasha Pastujov, Logan Mailloux, and Roman Schmidt. 4. Sign Petey. 5. Deal Quinn Hughes. 6. Play out bad contracts and let them expire. No buyouts. 7. Prepare for big signing next offseason (Nurse, Jones, etc.). 8. Take advantage of expansion draft (ie. Matt Dumba for a second round pick). 9. Sign a gap winger for a couple seasons, allowing new recruits to develop (Paul Stastny, Valteri Filpula).
  8. I don't think Lind or Gadget require protection as they didn't meet the requirements for exposure. Could be the biggest reason they sat on the taxi squad for so long. As for Myers, I'm not sure losing Myers would be desired by JB. I would, however be comfortable exposing him as I don't think they'd be interested in his contract.
  9. Top 3 picks 2021 Mason McTavish Logan Mailloux Roman Scmidt
  10. This is such a crapshoot draft. So many players never got the chance to show any improvements they'd made to their games. That being said, this may be a year to go a bit off the board. Another position we're lacking depth is LW. I know Hoglander was drafted as an LW but he's really found a home with Horvat. I've no interset in breaking that up. At this draft I'd be very interested in dropping down and picking up extra or prospects. One guy I'm high on as a prospect is Ryan O Rourke. I might find out if Minnesota might be interested in moving up (to #9) for O Rourke and their first rounder. My target is Sasha Pastujov. An American born player who seems to be not getting respect. Although his defensive game needs some work, scouts say it is only small things he needs to work on and should be easy fixes. He has a "rediculously high hockey IQ" and can dangle in a phone booth. His skating is excellent. One scout says he plays a similar game to Matthew Tkachuk. High intensity and aggression. All things that are dear to my heart in a hockey player.
  11. Kid definitely seems to have a playoff style game but waaaay too early to project his career achievements.
  12. So aggression is the word of the day. First, I'm never a fan of ten million dollars to any, single player. Expensive players like these take up too much of the cap and make it very difficult to fill out a roster with enough skill to win. This is why I like the idea of a three scoring line strategy. Three lines that can score don't have to do it all themselves. Three scoring lines means the puck is in the offensive zone more. Three scoring lines means there can be players producing 50 points and be an effective contributor. Most of all, three scoring lines can stay affordable as no one player should stand out. Another factor playing into an aggressive deal is JB stating that buyouts are going to be part of his offseason strategy. Quinn Hughes for Seth Jones, Boone Jenner, and the Leafs 2021 1st round pick. I think all can agree this is an aggressive deal. The biggest reason I'm dealing QH is due to his lack of defensive game. Travis Green wants a team that plays all 200 ft of the game (ie. Las Vegas, Montreal, Tampa Bay). QH does not fit this strategy. There are players in the Columbus organization, seemingly, wanting out. We know Jones wants out and I can see Jenner wanting a fresh start. QH is a player that they'll have control over for years to come. He and Laine can be the start of a, highly offensive strategy there. He gives them a premiere piece to build around. QH is going to be looking at a hefty raise, possibly, north of seven million. At this point, I'd be very hesitant to go there with him. Offensively, he's gifted but, defensively, he's a nightmare. The bottom line is, I don't trust him. We get two older players who are more reliable, defensively. They are also two players who are needing new deals after next season. However, we'd have two players on good deals for next season at team friendly money for one season. Jenner Petey Boeser Pearson Horvat Hoglander Miller Podkolzin Gadjovich Beagle? Macewen Rathbone Jones Schmidt Myers Juolevi Hamonic Demko Holtby I think this is a lineup that can be afforded, given the right moves and buyouts. Unfortunately, QH is a Benning pick so I hold no hope of anything like this happening.
  13. This is the one player that JB should pursue aggressively. Jones would be a great fit on our right side. Big, puts up points, and plays a full 200 foot game. He would thrive under Travis Green and play a big factor in future success.
  14. Trade for Seth Jones this year and go after Nurse next year if he makes RFA.
  15. Funny thing about patience. It requires time. Many of us have been patient for 51 years of that time. We deserve metals for our patience. For decades, Vancouver GMs have preached patience and talk of the future, using it as a type of currency against the fans. Unfortunately, that future never arrives. No Vancouver management regime has been able to deliver. Mike Gillis came the closest but alas, fate, once again, chose Vancouver to wear the badge of failure on it's chest.. So, off with Gillis' head and hail JB as the savior of Vancouver fans everywhere. Let the ", retool," begin. Unfortunately, this strategy also cost more time and required more patience as the Sedins proved too slow to be effective in the new age NHL as age took hold of them. Milking every ounce of Sedinery ownership could get, proved costly in time and required, yet, more patience. Brutal signings and a couple big gaffs at the draft have cost even more time. After seven years of vision shifts, inadequae leadership and, at times, outright unprofessional behavior, patience is still the medallion Vancouver fans must wear around their necks like a St. Christopher pendent, giving us the will and hope that we will, one day, find the legendary chalice that is the Stanley Cup. Patience is a virtuous thing but it is a standard that requires results to be satisfied. Those results have not come after, more then adequate time (51 years) to produce them. Therefore, it is fair that some of us more grizzled fans be allowed a little impatience and start to expect said results.
  16. Very encouraged by his performance but need to see him in more action. Unfortunately, with JB making promises that are going to be tough to deliver on; Is there going to be room for WL to get more games in next season.
  17. I agree but why move him from a spot he's comfortable with if it doesn't fix the problem. We'd still have a lot of spots to fill.
  18. As offensive wingers? Motte's ok but he's not a big point producer and I saw nothing to suggest Highmore belongs on a scoring line either.
  19. JB said he wants three legit scoring lines which makes moving Miller to the middle make sence. Petey Horvat Miller Order really doesn't matter as they'd be rolled evenly. The bigger concern would be the wingers filling the wing spots. Miller in the middle leaves a big hole to fill on the left side. Hoglander is a natural left winger but he played most of last season on the right side with Pearson and Horvat. I really liked that line and would like it to stay together. Podkolzin is also a lefty that plays the right side. I would assume nothing changes here. So: ? Petey Boeser Pearson Horvat Hoglander ? Miller Podkolzin ? ? Macewen The holes are glaring no matter who you put where.
  20. This is, exactly, my fear. JB's put a timeline on success and knows he has to deliver. There are a lot of holes to fill in this lineup and a two year deadline to fill them. Could be disastrous.
  21. I might be inclined to explore a Hughes deal. Especially if NJ drafts Luke. Could get a truck load of assets for now and the future.
  22. Now that I've begun to get over the pain of the past season and a more realistic logic returns to me, looking forward to next season is much easier. During media availability yesterday, JB expressed want for a balanced, three scoring line roster. Given that comment, this seems to make sense. ? Petey Boeser Pearson Horvat Hoagy ? Miller Podkolzin ? ? Macewen Hughes Hamonic Rathbone ? Juolevi Myers Demko Holtby From where I sit, JB has a lot of holes to fill with limited resources in money and assets. Given the Canucks current situation, it would be difficult to attract high end ufa's, leaving trades as the most likely avenue to fill needs. Any deal that's made has to involve money going out. However it plays out, I believe attempting quick fixes would be a mistake. Unfortunately, JB has now put a timeline on Canuck success which may only encourage rash decisions, causing more pain and anguish in fans. Players, I believe will help this team in the future: Draft Trades Mason McTavish Nolan Foote Sasha Pastujov Braden Schneider Logan Mailloux K'Andre Miller Roman Scmidt Jujhar Khara Prokhor Poltapov Nick Paul RNH William Nylander This is a short list and has room for more but it should serve more as an example of what not who we need.
