  1. I agree that he has value and I am not saying give him away, I just think the contract is a hard sell and so we can't expect the large haul we might get if he was still a UFA at the end of this season as a rental. Valuable yes. Would most teams want him? Yes. But I think 'maximum return' for him is a lot less than people seem to expect on this forum. Hence .75 on the dollar and not free.
  2. We could trade Schenn but have an in-pocket agreement for next year: 2 years as 1.5 plus an A.
  3. Miller isn't playing center for us right now. Do you think other teams see him as a second line center? Trade might work but I think any trade with Miller we will be lucky to get $0.75 on the dollar for him.
  4. Don't like the Bruins but hats off to the passionate response to this from the Bruin fans. Or former fans. The reddit thread is a good read.
  5. If you want to waive someone it would be Hogs to get him top line minutes and help him develop and be the first call up for the top 6. I think Hogs is an NHL player already, but I want him to be a really good NHLer and part of the year on a good Abby team might help that for later this year or at least long term.
  6. Assuming he stays in the top 4 for the duration this is going to be a steal at just over 4.25 ish AAV.
  7. The moment to go fixed was about 12 months ago I think. Deb is right, ask advice about what the next 3-5 years are going to do.
  8. That seems like a great deal. 1.5 million for a 3rd line center. Could play up if needed. Nice work.
  9. Understand what you are saying, mostly. But the title was about UFAs and half of your objections are about drafts and trades. Maybe changed the title to July 2022 winners/losers.
  10. I think we see the best of Brock next year. First year ended with injury. last contract he held out and missed training camp Covid year team disaster -- probably our best forward. last year he was secretly dealing with his Dad dying. Now a new contract and a full offseason and training camp. Think the best is yet to come.
  11. What about Chychrun? Would Meyer + (Hogs or Rathbone) get close?
  12. ??? Is this a 'please take him for free'?
  13. I picked Avs in 6. At the same time Edmonton's top line has the potential to be historically dominant. Yes,Tanev was hurt, but they made Calgary look inept in their own end and that was one of Calgary's strengths in the regular season. The issue might not be Kuemper vs Smith. (advantage Kuemper) Its the fact that usually Markstrom is better than Kuemper and Edmonton tore Marky apart. Either way, this should be a high event series that could be really fun to watch.
  14. Maybe, but compared to what they have let go all season, no
  15. Strange to support DoPS, but I think a big part of this hit is the size mismatch. Zadorov has 7 inches on him. If you look where his shoulder hits his chin, and his arm hits his chest if you adjusted the height difference even by 2-3 inches it is a shoulder to chest hit and most people don't have a problem with it. If that is the case, then you could argue that Zadorov tried to stay low. I would have been fine with 1 game, but I'm not shocked by none.
  16. I think this is a great point. How much would we expect to pay a player to replace OEL's contribution? $4.5 - $5 million. The question then becomes how much do we need to pay to gain $2.5-$3 million in cap space?
  17. Agreed. Despite some injuries and what sounds like an emotionally draining season (Watching your Dad slip away when you live across the continent) he is still a 20-25 goal scorer. I think this is probably his floor. Add to that he is really close with a number of other core players. There are lots of reasons for him to want to stay, he is a character guy, always has been, and with it being an off year, I think we can hope he signs for a reasonable contract number. If he does I think we are better for it.
  18. lol, well to be fair to Drance, I was paraphrasing, and you would be fairly accurate in your sum of my hockey credibility.
  19. Actually, Drance put it really well. He gets to learn what it means to be the big dog. He will be expected to be the best player on the ice for either team and play in every situation as the potential Alpha. He isn't going to experience that on the main team for years yet. Add playoff expectations and I think there is lots to learn and experience.
  20. While I agree with this prediction it also worries me a little. We have Thatcher Demko and 3 unproven NHL goalies. (Spencer's stint showed me potential not proof) I think we made mistakes with overpaying older proven backups the last two years so I think we will do what you predict, but there is some worry with the plan.
  21. I'm just impressed 'Future Considerations' is still going strong. Got to be some sort of record for trades in a year.
  22. Agreed. This is not the time to send your captain for surgery if you don't need to. If it is actual surgery I think you have to say its legit.
  23. And didn't Elder get hurt just as Salo was coming back? or was that a different year?
  24. Juho and highmore are still young. maybe offer longer term to keep the AAV down. 4th line players want some security. offer each one 3 years at 900-950K
  25. What about Boeser 50% retained straight up? He isn't going to sign long term in Arizona, so then Arizona flips him at %50 again at the deadline. Boeser at 1.5 cap hit would be worth a lot so Arizona gets its haul there.
