I just got the Hockey News Yearbook. They have Lightening winning the Stanley cup knocking out Vegas in seven games. Thats a laugh because Tampa lost four straight in the first round last year. Two years in a row they have picked Tampa in the final. They are the experts LOL! I think the Orca will make the playoffs this year!!! The Hockey News has them missing and in 5th spot in their division.

I'm glad Jim Benning got an extended contract. I cannot believe how the media is targeting him. It's amazing how Dubas in Toronto is considered a genius by putting them in Cap Hell and giving away a first round pick and it hardly gets mentioned by the press. Jim Benning in the meantime is roasted in the press daily. I'm pulling for you Jim. You are everyones whipping boy. Keep up the Good Work.

You are in a group that thinks we should never use draft picks to make a deal. I get that. What I don’t understand is you seem to think. you know more about building a competitive hockey team than our GM. You should come down from your Ivory Tower and apply for the job and see if you can get Jim Bennings job.

Congratulations Jim Benning!!! A job well done. I’m looking forward to you bringing our first Stanley Cup. You ignored all the haters and there are many. Especially in the media. You ignored it all and just kept working hard.

I have to add that Jim Benning has been criticized in every move that he has made since he has been here. He said he just ignores it and does the work. I hope that he gets to win another cup to shut up all the naysayers

The question of the thread in parentheses is: Why haven’t any Canadian teams won a cup since 1993??? Can Jim Benning win a Stanley Cup?? He has a ring as an Assistant GM when Boston won in 2011. Can he win it as a GM in Vancouver??? I think if he is given a new contract he can bring Vancouver its first Stanley Cup.

The Main reason the Orca hasn’t won a Cup is because of not having the right GM to build a team that has a potential to do it. An example would be the Chicago Cubs. They went 108 years without winning. Then they got the right person in charge and they won.

I just listened to Craig Button from a couple of years ago talking about Juolevi. He said it is very hard to find very good defence men, you have to draft them. He said Juolevi is not flashy but he will be a very good defence man who will play 15 years in the NHL. He will get the puck very quickly out of his own end, up to the forwards. I agree with Button, it’s been a wait because of injuries, but I hope he makes his NHL debut this year.

I’m looking forward to see the Oiler and Flame match ups. We play them both right out of the gate. And of course beating Toronto and Montreal is always a treat.

Button also said Benning should get a new contract. I agree!!

Button had good things to say about how Benning started with the cupboards bare and built a team that will contend for a playoff spot. Good job Jim Benning I’m looking forward to the season. It cant start soon enough.

There is a reason why The Oilers haven’t traded Puljujarvi yet. Edmonton can’t find anyone to overpay. Looks like a bust to me.

Eriksson to be moved permanently to 4 line. Travis Green would put him on the 5th line but there isn’t one.

I hear Utunen asked to be captain of his team at the summer showcase. Looks like he wants to lead as well. I’m looking forward when he makes his nhl debut.

Benning is honest as the day is long. Winning cures everything. When we win the Stanley Cup, half the posters on CDC will complain about the cars in the parade.
