  1. The alternate forum isn't working right now. Guess it's overwhelmed with member chiming in post this game and it's not able to take in all that data at once. I'm sure the bugs will be fixed at some point. So................that's why I'm in here. Thought they looked good. No one looked outta' place; new guys, young guys and goes without saying, the big guns. I especially liked Blueger and Bains. Hogs looked good too. Joshua had a better game. DeSmith IS our back up to be sure! Petey phenomenal on face offs; definitely looks to seriously improve his game as he said he would. Good to see Captain Quinn shoot more. I don't usually watch games with telescopic vision, but I sure was tonight and all in all they played a sound game. It was a great test to see how the PK would do against the potent Oiler's power play. Looking' good thus far. I can't wait for real games to start with a full roster. Raty and Bains may make things interesting come final roster choices! Go Canucks Go!
  2. Do ya' think PA approached Montreal first? At least reached out to them with a, "Are you interested in (insert name of winger here).?" And was DeSmith on PA's radar from the beginning? I dunno. After watching the movie "Draft Day," the whole process of player negotiations is very interesting.
  3. Yep. Same here. There's already a ghost town vibe taking control in here. They'd be welcome to join as members. Why not. I'm guessing they're fans just as much as anyone else. Also. I came in here to see if the JR, PA, Coach media thing got posted yet on Canucks TV. Apparently not yet. I'm going to the new forum now.......... Bye, bye!
  4. 3 - 2 Peggers in a shootout. Anyone else watch it?
  5. I don't really remember exactly when I joined. It was post 2011 I believe. Sedins, Jannik and Kessler were still around. My handle at the time was NexusRift. There was a glitch with CDC a lil' while back and I had to sign in again with what is now Sativika. I can't express enough how much I enjoy being a part of CDC. I've belonged to a few forum sites and was a Mod on a couple. All voluntary, all fun! I guess online forums are going by the wayside. It's really a product made for desktop computers, of which I'm using right now and have been since 1997. I'm an oldster and have yet to use my old iPhone6 for anything other than calls and texts; still use email, and FB. Point I'm making I guess, is that it's out with the old and in with the new. At least there's hockey to watch. Gonna catch the youngens on the CanucksYouTube at 2pm. Go Canucks Go!!!!!!
  6. Wow........Bummer of the highest magnitude. Really. It truly is. Guess I'll be hitting those other forums suggested in this thread. Well, we got till the end of this month and then it's sign off for good. I presume it's just the forum that's going away. Canucks TV and such are still going' on, right??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?
  7. To reiterate further, we can't conceivably go for him till we get rid of some cap.
  8. It doesn't matter when or how. Obviously to quell our anguish, sooner rather than later. But we gotta sign this kid. He's the real deal. Off to a bad start? So what. It happens to the best of 'em. Injury? It happens. And quite frankly, none of that has happened yet. Now is the time and the future looks bright. Do it P.A.!!!!!
  9. Jeez! Settle down y'all. Don't you just hate when you're all riled up and someone tells you to "chill the f*ck out, dude!" "Nuff said. Back to topic of sorts........ Had Bear not got injured, could this Bouchard signing have been in any way impactful to Ethan's situation with us regarding contractual crap an' such? I know. Dude's a free agent now and can sign anywhere, but curious. that's all. Or impact us in any way at all????
  10. Agreed. I'm old. But too young at the time to witness anything before Dryden or T. Espo. And even during that era in the seventies, I was pretty much a young stoner who was into hanging' out with my crowd being, well....young! However, I went with the Dominator. That dude made me say, "Holy Sh*t!" a lot! Any number of goalies with SC championships can be mentioned. As above in Turco, previously mentioned Barasso, as well as Vernon, Belfour, Richter to name a few; Osgoode, Quick...hell! Even guys that haven't won a cup, Luongo, King Richard, I dunno....I can't think of anymore. Good answer, but he wasn't one of the choices. And there isn't a box to tick off for 'Other.' However, King Richard was the sh*t in that run for sure! Who did Jon Casey play for again?!?!?!??? Yep...I'm old alright.....
  11. The mess of Messier. That's it there. Many in CDC didn't experience that whole fiasco, but many in CDC did. And boy, was it ever painful to bring in the captain of the team that defeated us in '94. Messier mighta' been great as a Canuck, but he was a cancer more than anything. Sure.....Nazzy gave him credit for his transition to captain in the WCE era, but really....that's all Mess gets from me. Hate the guy as a Canuck!
  12. Holy jumpin'! Impressive highlight package. Going only by reading stuff in CDC on Hronek, I didn't really have any opinion regarding our acquisition of him. Only that since we gave up a 1st and 2nd for him, he must be something worthwhile. Upon viewing these highlights, I'm on board 100%. I can only hope that with the players we have surrounding him that we can achieve the same kind of chemistry with Hronek as he had in Detroit. Jeez. I can't wait till the new season begins!
  13. Okay. Thanks for that. I seem to vaguely recall the scenario of Silovs being sent somewhere early on in his tenure with us. And I presume the ECHL is pretty much a bunch of undrafted/unsigned free agents with a sprinkling of semi-washed up pros and amateur pick ups? Must be horrid travelling for west coast based ECHL teams. But as far as an ECHL affiliate closer to Vancouver, I definitely see the advantage; as we're seeing now with our AHL Abbotsford Canucks!
  14. Excuse my ignorance regarding this announcement, but this benefits us how????!?!?!??? Is this more short term benefit for Abbotsford and longer term benefit for the big club or what? Where does the ECHL rate compared to players in the AHL or NCAA? Or Euro leagues for that matter.
  15. Chiming in earlier in this thread; I'm of the ilk of liking this trade. That being said, as someone mentioned earlier, it's too early to pass judgement. To be honest. I was somewhat iffy when this trade went down. Only 'cuz I didn't hear mention of his name much in my small hockey circle, or know anything about Hronek. After doing some online research, reading the pages through the Hronek trade thread, and witnessing the small sample size of him playing with us last season, I deemed it a good trade. Yea, we gave up a 1st and 2nd to the Wings, which understandably they turned into a couple of RHD's. To be expected with the loss of RHD, Hronek. And since we now have in our possession Hronek, we used the 4th we got from Detroit to get a future 3rd line centre. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, didn't we have three picks in the 4th round?!?!?!?!?!???? Too lazy to look right now, but I believe we went with all forwards in that round......... Detroit's RHDs of choice in the 1st round draft won't be playing anytime soon for them. Hronek plays now. Sure. I get it; the ghost of the Forsling for Clendening looms large in many CDC's minds. But with the addition of Hronek, the free agent signings of Soucy and Cole, we've definitely got the makings of a great one/two punch with our D pairings.
  16. I went with, 'Do something else.' Actually, any of those options can make sense for us this coming season. It's really just a matter of what management's goal is for such. I'm presuming they'd want us to get in the playoffs. Did they do enough?!?!?!?!??!?!?? At this point, post draft and free agent signings, I think they can reach that goal. As far as my "Do something else" choice goes, well............ Anything can happen really. I know the names mentioned in the other options are prevalent regarding trades 'n' such, but with the abundance of other forwards, Hogs, Pods, and farm players; just how far do we wanna go regarding playoffs or actually Stanley Cup contenting. With a full training camp for all players on hand and the new additions hopefully fitting in seamlessly, there's a good chance we get to make that playoff appearance we so dearly wish for. Though I'm guessing we're gonna squeak in later as opposed to clinching a spot earlier. I'd be surprised if we clinch a playoff berth early. It wouldn't surprise me if we get in a wildcard race to make the playoffs. But......who knows?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!!!
  17. I agree with you 100%. To me Kiss lost an integral part of the songwriting composition when Ace had departed. You can hear what I mean when you listen to Ace Frehley's Comet, his post Kiss efforts. Kiss had some good songs post Ace, but by and large they're basically, mostly arena rock BS. Some radio friendly fluff like "Forever" and " Reason To Live." "Crazy Crazy Nights" and "Lick It Up" were, if you will, good rock anthem songs and pretty much what they've done post Ace and makeup removal. I like Kiss and in my youth, were an integral part of my taste in music. I play guitar and as a matter of fact, some of the early guitar riffs I learned to play were Kiss songs! This thread is turning out to be White Noise!!!!!!!
  18. The Golden Knights have been serving notice since their inception that they're not afraid to go after big fish. Hmmmmm......I wonder who they might go after now that they've won the big prize. If they want a dynasty now (I could see it!), They'll make it happen. Whether it's EK or not.
  19. I was but a young lad of only12 years old when that Zager and Evan's song came out. Bought the 45 too! I presume some posts in this thread to be of origin to equally older peeps. I'm of the ilk that the 24/25 season roster will look somewhat different to what it is today. I'm pretty sure management will make some moves once the state of the cap situation is dealt with further. There's bound to be some trades of significance, perhaps UFA's and hopefully a few in house players that make the grade. I sure hope, as many in here already mentioned, that management doesn't make any bonehead moves to put us in cap grief again. Not anytime soon anyways.
  20. Whether or not the OEL buyout happened or not, they still woulda' traded JT if it made sense for the good of the team going forward. The business of hockey happens no matter what. If they can offload the moneys soon to be payed out to JT, they'd do it in a heartbeat. Now that being said........... I pretty much think that JT's here to stay and is part of the conversation for our plan for NHL hockey success. I believe he was originally brought in as a vet presence for the young core at the time. The fact that he's turned out to be keeper is gravy. Yes. I deem him a keeper. He's gonna be a factor in our near future playoffs and in our years of SC contention.
  21. As bolded above; the core we build on. The other names added to build on to the core three. JR and PA's plan all along to make a contender starting with those 3 guys. I'm not saying everyone else is expendable, but ya' gotta think....yea. Perhaps they are. We certainly have a stockpile of forwards to bring in the pieces we require. No. We don't. Our core three mentioned above will still be great players and far from out of their prime. We have already surrounded them with some players that will be part of the quest to contend. Yes, we still need more as mentioned ad nauseam in CDC; defence and forwards with size, physicality, PK specialists, stay at home punishing D-Men....... It's my guess that this coming season, management will do what's required to get us back into the playoffs. With regards to all the talk of moving some of our pricier players, trades and such, it's my guess that when it's time to go after the Mark Stone's and Ryan O'Rielly's of the hockey world, management will do it. BUT not until after a season or two of playoffs. Then that's when we go for the throat!!!!
  22. I agree that such can be done. But please don't over spend just 'cuz we got the money. I dunno what the cost would be for the first 3 guys mentioned above. I'm guessing they could be had for a reasonable price, but at a higher cap. Johansen or Granlund are definitely desirable, especially if we get a 1st back, but at what cost with regards to their current contracts. I'm down with a vet centre to be sure. With the plan to get into the playoffs this coming season, perhaps a cheaper alternative of a vet centre would make more sense. Man! I'm excited for the coming season!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Yea. That's my thoughts of his style of play; in that he tends to "roam" and in doing so causing the "Chaos Giraffe" syndrome we've been witness to. Questionable decision making to be sure. Perhaps Hirose is the in house answer for his partner. Ah....we'll see.
