  1. You guys are funny. And truth be told, I'm one of those mofos too! Mostly the grumpy old curmudgeon part.
  2. I get that Swag and concessions are part of the money making part of an NHL team. But success and a winning team with the good possibility of a championship is paramount. I think that's what's going on right now, but it's still a work in progress. That being said.............. We need an owner who wants to bring in fans for the product. It's the team itself that's the commodity and it should be that and only that. If it takes some promo or mo' money to make it happen, then do it! Not with crazy expensive jerseys for every occasion either. (That Gino/Reconciliation jersey was sweet, but not $750.00 sweet!). A crazy rich billionaire type with an Amar Doman mentality oughta' do it! Throw in Buble, Reynolds, maybe Kroeger, and other rich Vancouverites. I dunno.........As it is, we have Aquaman..........
  3. Just swallow your PRIDE and put on the jersey. It's not labelling you, or anything about you. You are who you are and a simple wearing of a certain apparel doesn't change who you are. To all who are not participating.......Shame!
  4. I know y'all jest regarding pride type attire, but really, and I don't really have to say this but.............men's hockey, from beer league to the NHL, is too macho for such things. It would be funny though. Petey on a breakaway sporting a tutu on Reimer. Reimer's homophobia gets the best of him and Petey scores! Anywho........ Aren't the vast majority of NHL players of the Gen Z persuasion? A few Millennials mixed in. Seems to me these gens of individuals by and large, are pretty indifferent regarding things of colour, creed, gender, sexual orientation; supporting new issues of environment, global warming, reduced carbon foot printing; Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, War in Ukraine. In other words, these gens seem concerned of these issues...........I dunno. We're all individuals and not all parent raise their kids from a book of parenting. Values, religion, spiritualism, WHATEVER!!!!!! It's a choice. Now that being said............ I see no harm whatsoever in these types of themed support on game nights. Letting individual players choose because of personal reasons shouldn't have been allowed to happen in the first place. Maybe not supporting PRIDE night is something some players figure they can make their statement, and get away with it. Seriously. Do you think they'll get away with not promoting a Black Lives Matter night, or a Reconciliation night. I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! What's next..........Dis-respecting Remembrance Day?!?!?!!?? Jeez..........uhhhhh......ermmmmmm Go Canucks Go???!??!?!???
  5. Hmmmmm...........Things that make one say, Hmmmmmmm........ Other than the big 3 of, well.......you know who; could this be a precursor of no intention to move JTM or Kuz? Of a future with Kuz post his new contract, and a big money extension to insure his stay in our organization? An unofficial statement that we've every intention of paying Petey and Huggy whatever is required to make 'em longtime Canucks? Well.........I ain't got no problem with that. Go (new core!) Canucks Go!!!!!
  6. There's no doubt regarding the frazzled state we've experienced regarding our Canucks these past few seasons. The slow starts...the poor PK....the predictable unsuccessful PP....the lack of a definitive RD....the nonsensical JB era transaction still haunting us for years to come....wishy, washy management decisions....blah, blah, blah. Then on the other side of the coin......the bubble Demko playoffs....the 2nd half turnarounds...."Bruce. There it is!".....new coach, new players, trade acquisitions showing promise......................By and large, a seemingly new look to our success this 2nd half of this season. But is it a success?!?!?!?????? Like I said....FRAZZLED!!!!! Honestly. I'm more of a 'fanboy' than I am a couch potato coach. I love my Canucks, (And the B.C. Lions.) and I cheer for any discipline of sport involving Canadians; Women's hockey, Men's hockey, Olympics, World Championship Hockey, Spengler Cup. I like to think of myself as a supportive, half glass full kind of fan. That being said, I see why the back 'n' forth opinions in CDC. There's a good chance our 'Nucks could suck at the beginning of next season. Some of the old habits may rear their ugly head. I get it......Tocchet even mentioned that aspect of this team reverting to such at times. Guess it's 'cuz of all the losing, and the way they've lost these past few seasons. Really....Is it a new regime? Is it a different vibe because of all things new? This team already looks different. Dare I say...Dramatically? I've no doubt it'll look different more so at the beginning of next season. A new look roster is a no brainer. A full training camp for the coaching staff to work its magic. Yea. I'm excited. BUT?!?!?!?!????? Go Canucks Go!
  7. I'm all for our team's success. I wan'em to win all the time. What fan wouldn't! But because of Bedard, success has taken a different meaning this season. Especially with our Canucks. With the new management, full season for Bruce, and last season's habit of slow starts and monumental defensive breakdowns, well.......there was cautious optimism with our Canucks right from the get go this season. There was already tank talk going' on in CDC and rightly so with such a generational talent as Bedard being the one. With that being said............... I dunno. It's my feeling that what's going on with us is exactly what's needed; building a culture of playing the right way and winning. Not just for the young guys, but also our core. Seems this was management's plan all along. Even though it took some time and pain to get 'er going, it is going nonetheless. So with that, I say let the chips fall where they may. If we get lucky and get Bedard, then Woohoo! And not by trading away any of our core or future picks to get him. By sheer luck of the draw in the lottery. I'm sure we'll still have a 1st round pick; a commodity as late with our team. And I've a belief that it'll be a good one. Go Canucks Go!
  8. Man! I love seeing our Nucks win. Honestly, I don't care how they win. From this all out effort, to the dismal win against L.A.; a win is a win. Juls, Breez, Wols..........Seriously sucks that the injury bug has recently hit our D so quickly in succession. Good to see Boner called up and garnering some feel good success in yesterday's tilt. I realize the verdict is still out with the kid, but with what he showed, I'm sure he'll be around for us in the near future. Here's hoping Boner makes it with us. I'm liking Hronek. Dude's got some talent. Seems a great fit. For a team riddled with criticism on D, we did alright, don't ya' think? Go Canucks Go!
  9. Kravtsov.....is the 'v' silent???!???!? Anywho.................. So many changes in the locker room this season. Tocchet and company arriving in the latter part of this season is also a dramatic change. For all involved actually. Also there could be more troops added to the fold as early as next week (Possible NCAA acquisition) as well as any off season changes sure to happen. Tocchet's suggestion of off season training for the players is paramount for next season's success. Plus all these newbies we've acquired will get a full training camp, coaches inclusive. (They're new too!) After such, we'll know what we have and charge into battle from there. Back to Kravty......You know.....he might turn out to be the same dud as he was in NY. But dare I say, he's NOT there anymore. I'm sure he views being in Vancouver as a 180 degree turnaround for him, as I feel management figured it was part and partial to the possible positives they see in him to come out. Most certainly a summer conditioning stint with Tocchet in tow, and a full training camp will impress well with the young lad. I'm positively hopeful. If it turns out that he needs a stint with Abbotsford, I'm all for that too. I don't know Kravty's personality or demeanour, but I'm sure he'll go with what management recommends for him.
  10. Yea. I read that earlier on today. Very cool. There's definitely some positives surrounding our organization. (Sick of hearing the negatives to be honest!) Bringing the twins in was a good move. Some championship winning individuals in the organization definitely is a plus. I'm happy with the coaching down on the farm. Cull was not it. Perturbed with Cull's promotion to the big team. Glad he's been dismissed. I believe Buffalo's development to be on par. Otherwise they wouldn't be as good as they are right now.
  11. The Sabres in the past few seasons have garnered 1st and 2nd round picks of note. Cozens, Dahlin, and Powers to name a few keepers. Mittlestadt is a mystery. But by and large 1st overall picks can really make ones team flourish. The Gillis era of drafting wasn't stellar, and the Benning era trading away early round picks added to the prospect depth trauma; the last of the remaining Gillis era picks BoHo, is gone. And of course hits 'n' misses with Benning. Seeing as the present regime has been busy, I'm curious to see how some of the moves to acquire other teams young prospects works out. Raty, Bloom; undrafted free agent signings and trades, Karlsson and Bains in particular, and of course our own, Silovs, Klimo, Boner, Woo, and the dudes in other parts of the hockey nations. Our 1st round pick since Pods in 2019, Lekkerimaki, is a project I'm very interested in. This coming 2023 entry draft holds much interest for me too.
  12. So, basically it seems the consensus in this conversation is to take a Dman if we don't get in the top 5 via the lottery. At least that's what I get from the limited, fast track reading of posts in this thread. So....with that being said......... Simashev? Sure. Kid's huge. And all coach has to say to him is, "SMASH!" I jest of course. A Hulk-ish jest! Who's ASP?!?!?!? Sorry. Too lazy to try and figure it out. Not well known enough for me to be familiar with. OEL, JTM, RJH.....you know what I mean. As I said, "LAZY ME!" I'm of the "BPA" philosophy of drafting. I know we've stockpiled a sh#t ton of forwards as late, but as much as defensive depth has value, the centre position is just as relevant.
  13. Well......I made a comment about hating losing to the Alberta teams and a couple of eastern teams. I totally forgot about how I hate losing to Vegas as well. I guess my "hate," if you will, stems from the fact that they had success right from the get go. It's known to all hockey that they've been in the conversation as contenders every year since they've been in the NHL. I mean they reached the Stanley Cup in their first ever season. How f#cked up is that! I know the Avs had success in '96, but they weren't an expansion team. As many know, they moved to Denver from Quebec City as an established team already. It pains me to see an expansion team to not go through the growing pains as many former expansion teams. That just doesn't seem right, don't you think?!?!?!??? Even Seattle is doing good! I'm sure it's Betman's doing. His pro, "USA," evil expansion plans I'm afraid, are coming to fruition. He's determined to make the Coyotes work, and I understand his next moves for domination might involve Houston and Atlanta?!?!?!??!?!? Anywho......... Tank on Canucks....Tank on!
  14. To be honest, I'm not struggling at all. I like to see our Canucks win. Sometimes I really hate it when they lose. Especially against the Alberta teams and couple of eastern teams. But by and large I accept when they lose. We're definitely NOT gonna get in the playoffs. But I get it. Winning is decreasing our odds regarding Bedard. That being said, I'm sure we'll still be in a decent spot. Assuming we're rolling along as we have been lately since Demmer's return, we might be somewhere in the top 8 to 15 perhaps? I'm okay with that. There's no way we can do better. I dunno. I'm not a cause 'n' affect scientist. I think there's a culture and an identity being created as we speak. A winning culture? Sure! Why not. But more so a culture of positivity. A culture of hope for a brighter future and outcome. Winning builds moral. The core and their comrades in arms have to experience that feeling and ache for it. That's not gonna happen if ya' keep on losing. Sure. Losing's okay, but if it's a good loss, then positivity and hope will continue to linger and flourish in the psyche of the players and locker room. Am I rambling?!?!?!?!??????? Go Canucks Go!
  15. Agreed. I'm excited to see what transpires next year regarding NCAA acquisitions, draft picks, trades, and the free agent frenzy. Though I'm guessing the latter won't be a factor with our roster. I'd be surprised if we acquired a top 5 UFA or RFA. Ain't gonna happen me thinks......But ya' never know. It's a fickle business to be sure!
  16. So far as I've noticed, Krav's positioning is pretty sound. He seems to get himself in areas where he can make a good pass or get a good shot off. I agree that he seems pressured to show what he's capable of to those that took him on. That'll pass I'm sure and it's only a matter of time before he garners points from his play. I'm sure it helps having fellow comrades on the team. Gonch is gravy. Having him as a D coach is a huge plus. It helps that he's Russian as well.
  17. Holy moly. This kid is Ginimbus! According to lines.com, he went undrafted in 2018. Turning 23yrs. old at the end of this month. Perhaps a project but man.....Ya' can't teach size! So many promising looking prospects in this years NCAA crop. A small player or two of the ilk described above's okay. But if success in the playoffs is paramount, ya' need some big boys. In every era of modern hockey, size plays a part in contending for the big prize. I could be wrong, but seems to me to be right.
  18. I feel as if we're still not there regarding size. I believe Tocchet's got us playing a style that suits more physicality. I've no problem obviously with Joshua, Pods, Milsy up front. So with that we need a big 6'2"+, 200lbs.+ winger or two to fill those needs. A Bertuzzi type would be the bomb, but a couple o' more Joshua's would work too. A 3rd line centre of this ilk is required too. Also, needless to say, more size and nastiness at the back end too. Myers in the Leafs game was good to see. and at the back end we need more than Burroughs for goonism. Backend physicality; Juulsen seems a good fit. Hronek? Yet to see...... NCAA guys?!?!?!?!!???
  19. Supply and demand, man. Selling Hope? Big demand! In so far as mentioned above by swimsWithDucks; it does fit the pattern in the past few seasons. That being said....... I'm really digging' the winning streak we're on. Where we fall regarding the lottery odds is in the hands of the hockey gods. I reserve judgement at this point in time. Our roster isn't 100%. Lotta' farm kids in the line up and our injured semi-core players haven't been a factor; Hronek yet to play a game for us as well. What management does in the offseason will be telling regarding our performance out of the gate next season. That, in combination with Tocchet's commitment for the offseason training and such; we'll have to wait and see. Go Canucks Go!
  20. Yay! Go Canucks Go!!!!!! I'm aware that our recent wins jeopardizes our chances of better lottery odds for 1st overall, but damn!!!!!!!!! I'm loving' it!
  21. The Kipper? Good company indeed! To be honest I was surprised that he got a call up so soon. As I mentioned in another thread, probably was called up to back up Delia and be with the big team for experience purposes But as luck would have it, he played. Even better experience for him. And fans, coaching, management alike all were witness to his prowess. Good on the organization to give him the chance to shine in front of our ravenous fans pining for some good in our season. To be sure Abbotsford is in good hands with Silo holding the fort.
  22. Copy and paste from Canucks Daily.......... "Hronek is currently putting in a career-high season of 38 points after 60 games. The rarity of the right-handed shot defenseman really increases the price the Canucks will have to pay for his services in the long term. Amongst active right-handed defensemen making an average of $7M/year, we can find players like Aaron Ekblad, Alex Pietrangelo, Dougie Hamilton, Cale Makar, Jacob Trouba, and Charlie McAvoyjust to name those." Now I've not really seen Hronek play much. And I really didn't pay any attention in the recent Wings/Nucks game. But is Hronek worthy to be included with the above names? If that's so, then we scored big time. I dunno. Whaddaya'll say to this?!?!??!????
  23. Yea. Many an Oilers fan that I know can't stand hearing Scorpion's "Rock you Like a Hurricane " anymore. Their loss.... Awesomeness!!!!!!!! Go Canucks Go!
  24. Shouldn't this be in Canucks Talk? Anywho........... Pretty much this. However I'm okay with Milsy. Dude was brought into the fold in part as a veteran presence and has been such for our core three of Petey, Huggy and Demmer. Including the above mentioned 30+ Dmen, we can also offload a forward or two as well. And what about all the other non roster player bs; Ferland, Sutter, Poolman, salary recapture, cap retention and such. Where do we stand there? Needless to say, if we're to re-tool to surpass mediocrity, then we require more draft picks and prospects to help with the such. Management to be sure, are not done and they've got their work cut out for 'em!. I feel a blockbuster coming in our future for sure!
