  1. Yeah, even though I'm a fan of another AFC team, I hate to see things like this...hopefully JB just tweaked it instead of tearing it....
  2. Apparently Burrow had to be carted off with a calf injury....
  3. Elon fanboys with the, "Oh yeah? Well he's way richer than you!" in 10...9...8...7....
  4. Apparently there won't be any Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes at the trade deadline, as the Angels just added a couple of pitchers from the Chisox and will go all-in for a playoff spot. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38078671/angels-acquire-lucas-giolito-reynaldo-lopez-white-sox Giolito should be one of the starters that the Jays face in their upcoming series against the Halos.... (More in the link)
  5. Watching the replay as I type this. The play by Quinn on the winning goal should not be underestimated.... They basically took on two Irish defenders and managed to get past them and feed Schmidt, who sent a perfect ball in to Leon....
  6. I think it's more a case of Thornton dropping at least one (if not 2) spots in the pecking order. Cabrera is a lefty, so that automatically puts him at or near the top of the list...at least until he stinks it up... Jay Jackson has been really good as well, so he's moved up on the list as well. Even if he gets sent down, he'd likely be the first one recalled. Right now, Nate Pearson is almost definitely the first guy on the call-up list, so Thornton has become pretty much redundant. If they need a multiple inning guy, Bowden Francis has that covered.
  7. Watching Sportsnet's coverage yesterday, they mentioned a couple of times how the Jays had the best record in the AL over the past 50 games, "so why doesn't it feel like it?" The consensus answer was the amount of close games, but I have a different take. To me, it doesn't feel like it because of how many winnable games they've lost. Case in point: they just went 3-3 on this west coast trip, but they could easily have swept all six games.....
  8. FFS! Couldn't even close it out with a 4 run lead.... Unless I'm forgetting someone, this means Mitch White will have to pitch the 10th....
  9. I've been crusading for the automated strike zone for several years now....and it isn't just because of bad strike/ball calls against the Jays.... Check out this brutal strike called on Jose Abreu:
  10. Probably so the home fans could laugh at the Elks along with the visiting fans....
  11. That's a pretty big win, considering what happened in Seattle.... Jay Jackson with a huge contribution tonight....
  12. I'm also at a loss as to why Merrifield didn't score on a ball that got past Heyward and went all the way to the wall....
  13. Hopefully three runs is going to be enough....pretty disappointing to get nothing else when you have bases loaded, nobody out....
  14. Have to disagree (somewhat) with the general sentiment here.... I would trade my life for Elon's. (not that my life is bad, but I wouldn't mind taking a crack at being a billionaire) That being said, I wouldn't have needlessly jumped into the middle of a culture war, (on the wrong side) nor would I have paid twice as much as Twitter was worth, just so I could have a platform to engage in it... It goes without saying that if I hadn't bought Twitter, I wouldn't have totally effed it up, either...
  15. Rough weekend for the Dickenson brothers.... I think I feel a bit worse for Craig....not only did he lose, but now he has to go back to Regina....
  16. Nice to salvage a W (especially considering it was a Manoah start) but these guys are still killing way too many rallies with ground ball double plays...
  17. Agreed. Giving Kikuchi the hook when he did was a mistake, IMO. Shizzy criticized it afterward and I agreed wholeheartedly. It might be that he learned something....or as I mentioned earlier, he decided he had to stick with KG because of the depleted 'pen. I guess the answer to that depends on how charitable one feels. My guess would be somewhere in the middle. Given their respective stature, Gausman probably gets a longer leash, either way.
  18. Probably about 40k are pissed off because they were told there was a football game being played.....
  19. I thought leaving Gausman in was the right thing to do, despite the three dingers. KG wasn't pitching poorly...the Mariners just made him pay every time he missed his spot with the fastball... Pulling Kikuchi the day before was a mistake and it pretty much forced Schneider to leave KG in, because he had used so much of the bullpen on Friday. Bottom line for me: I probably would have done the same as Schneider did with Gausman...Pearson and Garcia didn't do their jobs. You can't plunk the leadoff guy with a three run lead and Garcia had Teo down 0-2 and let him off the hook with a pitch that had way too much of the plate. I can be as critical of the manager as anyone (and I was after Friday's game) but this one was squarely on the pen, IMO. One could argue that if Schneider had saves some arms on Friday, he might have had Swanson available on Saturday, but Pearson and Garcia are being paid to get those outs....
  20. With the Lefty Speier warming up for the Mariners, I wonder if Schneider pulls either (or both) of the guys who just went yard? Who knows? Maybe he learned something from yesterday's game.
  21. The first two were on "get ahead" fastballs that were supposed to be at the top of the zone....neither of them were anywhere near the top of the zone and 90 MPH is pretty easy to hit when it's not located properly....
