Is this the EP thread or the tough guy thread? Why is this such a debate around this kid. Does Chicago have an enforcer to protect Kane? Does Calgary have one to protect Johnny? Does Matt Martin even dress anymore? Lets get back on track....

Brandon Montour was a second round pick and is just coming into his own as a 23 year old defenceman. To say OJ has next year to make it is ridiculous. It doesnt matter where they are picked. Kids develop at different rates.

Not sure why everyone is so eager to get rid of these kids. They are still young. Growing every game. It takes time. We have no idea how long those 3 will take to develop

No disrespect intended but why do grown adults choose to watch fake wrestling. It’s bizarre to me. Why not just watch real fighting. Or is it not the fighting you like, is it the “storylines”.....

@48MPHSlapShot fair enough. To each their own but was wondering if it was the fake fighting or the other that drew people. My twitter timeline was full of some wrestler dude today so I was asking the question.

@Stelar It's a performance art, much more akin to something like gymnastics or interpretive dance than any actual fight. It's a stage show with storylines and unique performances unlike any other medium in entertainment that, when done well, can manifest itself in some of the most emotionally gripping television out there.

That’s fine to give credit. As I said, he’s having a great season, but 2 posts up from yours someone said he was a shoe in for the NHL next year and would be a massive disappointment if he didn’t make it. That’s what I am referring to.

I’m probably in the minority here but I think we need to pump the brakes on expectations with this kid. He looks great and and has had a great year but I am holding off on getting too excited. Kid has a ways to go. Just my 2 cents.

Gonna be tough for him to go from that atmosphere to the empty one in Vancouver. Maybe by that time the bandwagon will be full again.

@Alflives I was at many of the 1994 run games. I watch that hockey now and think "this is crap". I think the game has improved. Players are better, faster, more skilled. How the league is run is a different matter.

Totally agree. The game has evolved into a much faster one, that's for sure. (The impact of the high speed collisions I'm not a fan of though) The Southern US cities might be hurting the game now, but I wonder (if in the long term) they we spread the game?

I’m suggesting trying Jake in OT instead of Loui. Or Goldy. What’s the harm in throwing youth and speed over the boards. Don’t think I am being too hard to understand. To play Loui over Jake in OT is basically saying that they have no interest in scoring but just have him defend till shootout which I can’t remember the last one we won. I am in no way saying to fire the coach. I like this coach. Just don’t understand his OT strategy.

Right, and I guess the shift Dowd and Loui got in the last minute of OT was us trying our best to win in OT. Got it.

How can anyone say that a coach who won’t even try Virt in OT will ever have him as a 2nd line winger.
