To paraphrase Jeremy Piven's "10 Years! 10 Years!" in Grosse Pointe Blank, I give you "5 Seconds! 5 Seconds!" for Stillman. What a brain dead decision last 5 seonds of the period last night.
-
What I don't like about Miller on Horvat's line is Miller barking out orders on faceoff alignments in front of Horvat. Maybe it's on Horvat to step it up or it's Miller sabotaging Horvat's role.
-
What a great last name - Melee (on the 4th line).
-
Myers is bad. Indecisive, slow to react, flops like a dying giraffe when attempting to block shots and unable to impose his will on smaller players along the boards.
-
How many bonehead plays can Stillman make? Time to sit him out.
-
Although I want to see Rathbone play tonight against Nashville, I see their lines include robust wingers like Jeannot, Trenin, Neidereitter, Sanford, Jankowski and McCarron, so maybe Burroughs is a better option over Rathbone and Stillman (who deserves a sit out for his pinch move against the Ducks). Like someone posted earlier, Rathbone need to take a 'bulldog' approach in his own zone.

Of the OEL/Myers pairing, it's Myers who's the anchor. For his size, Myers simply cannot impose his will on smaller players. He can't even clear the puck from his zone. He should be bull-dozing players on the boards to get the puck out. Also, his decision-making is so slow.
-
Would he still sign with the Canucks if his buddy Rathbone was traded by the Canucks?

2 'bubble' centres.do not replace a 58% FO-winning centre.

I didn't realize what a solid player Yegor Sharangovich is. I think he can provide a roadmap for Klimovich to follow. Fellow Belarussian, 6'2, 17 pts in his first AHL season. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=207017

nice, Lockhart has 18 pts. Just noticed that 15 year old Michael Misa has 15 pts in 11 games.

Probably due to difference in cap hits but why is Jalen Chatfield the Canes 6th D instead of Bear? Maybe it's more than about cap hits.

Should team look at signing a new assistant coach?
rizzuto&hatoum replied to *Buzzsaw*'s topic in Canucks Talk
Blaming the assistant coaches is way down the list of complaints. I blame Rutherford for not having the foresight to work with the schedule makers (unlike Gillis/Gilman) to NOT have a 5 game road trip to start the season. Also, what's with the one-day rest coming off the trip before their first home game? Weren't lessons learnt from last season? Hiring all those assistant GMs - one of them should have been dealing with NHL HQ. -
in addition to terrible risky passes, he's also losing puck battles and a bit lackadaisical coming out of his zone. Tonight, he stayed on too long in OT and lost the puck battle along the boards. Unforgivable was the first or second Columbus goal, where he was outmuscled in the middle of the ice along his own blueline, lost the puck, leading to a 2 on 1.and after extended zone time, the BJs scored. Somehow, the 2 Johns missed that. I really wanted to see them acknowledge the true goat on that play.

Time to play Rathbone. Stillman is OK but you need guys who can skate. Canucks look slow against Columbus.

My bad. I should have said 'picked up' instead of 'traded' as Stanton was picked off waivers in 2013-14.
-
The last left-side defenseman traded from Chicago with the initial R.S. was Ryan Stanton. He gave 2 solid years for the Canucks. If Stillman can do the same, it's a win.
