  1. My best offer to Podkolzin would be what Barrett Hayton signed in Arizona. 2yr 1.775m cap hit I believe, basically a short term bridge deal between 1.25-1.775m would be my max offer to Podkolzin. Unless team wants to take a risk and give him 6-8yrs but agents want a premium for buying up early UFA years. But imagine if Podz signed what Brendan Gallagher signed with Montreal for his 2nd deal. Something like 6yrs and 3.5m or so as a cap hit. Was a steal of a contract for those years and Podkolzin could be that player for us if he breaks out while already signed long term. Comes with risk of course and depending on what the cap hit would be also as we are limited in space so a short term bridge deal is most likely.
  2. Odd. : You are 100% Barbashev may even be capable as a #2C, making a possiblt JT trade easier to make, problem is JT's NMC kicks in same time UFA starts. Unless...Canucks trade for Barbashev's rights from Vegas at or before the draft. Not sure what he might get as a UFA but 5-6m is more than fair if the management thinks he is a #2C, that would be a great deal for the team. But if Barbashev is a #3C you don't want to a #3C more than 4m and that is even high for me but we all hope cap goes up alot in a few years then cap hits won't look as bad now as they might for some players with long term deals...no names mentioned by me!
  3. Any chance Brisebois has had in the NHL he has always looked decent. Solid 7th D option in my opinion, glad we got rid of Stillman to open that spot up for Brisebois to potential take control of to end this year or earn out of training camp next fall
  4. I hope your right but OEL has been trending downwards for a few years now, but yes I hope a better D partner for OEL will help him. Myers drags any D partner he plays with down, can't wait for him to be off the Canucks roster and that 6m cap hit!
  5. I realize QO sets him up for UFA but if Hronek's ask is 7m or more maybe thats quite rich. Depends on he gels with the team and who he is paired with obviously, what I was saying is at least we have Hronek for 2 years at a reasonable cap hit for a top 4 RHD...time will tell to see how well of a fit Hronek will be with Vancovuer ( I hope it works for us & hope NYI make playoffs and somehow win a round this year too!)
  6. This is a cap space thread and everyone seems to think Myers is an easy trade with a SIX MILLION DOLLAR CAP HIT...that only is easy to trade to a team with loads of cap space, but is Arizona, Chicago, Anaheim going to be on Myers 10 No Trade list...I would have them on mine if I was him! Cash paid out next season Myers is cheap after the 5m SB paid July 1st, but he STILL has a 6m cap hit people!
  7. We have 3G on roster still??? Thought we had Delia as backup...good to see they aren't just running Demko every game even with a day off in between. They need to be cautious with Demko to finish the year, he is playing great but don't run him into the ground to end the year while we finish 25th in the standings...
  8. Pass on Hronek extension if he wants 7m, he has NOT proven to be that kind of D man... See how he does for a dozen or so games to end this year, possible open extension talks with him in the summer, but if he wants that kind of $ better to hold of play out next season and worst case we have him for 2024/25 season at his QO of 5.5m I believe someone mentioned. No need to rush a big $ long term deal this off season, if he wants to sign for under 6m with some term maybe we consider it. But, we have to see how he plays and where the team wants to slot him either with Hughes or what I would like to see is have Hronek on the 2nd pair. Then we have 2 D on seperate pairings that are top 4 capable and you fill in a lesser player to play with both of them. Load up Hronek and Hughes on PP1 should be an option we at least try out in my opinion.
  9. Again, if Anaheim is NOT on his 10 NT list...but yes they signed Klingberg to a 1 yr 7m deal, probably thinking to net a 1st or 2nd at the TDL but had to settle for a 4th. Canucks would win more games if Myers was in our division, EP would light him up!
  10. True, but the acquiring team still needs 6m in available cap space to take Myers on...not an easy task with so many cap strapped teams. Unless Myers has an odd 10 team No Trade list that does NOT include Chicago or Arizona then sure a deal would be easy one would think after the 5m SB is paid July 1st
  11. Not currently, we need him to get run over by Reeves or suffer a more serious injury. We haven't shut him down for the year yet, which is what I would do...allow Brisebois and Wolanin to play the rest of the season. Let OEL rest and not risk further injury in the hopes some on here have of him maybe playing better next year without the tire fire RHD Myers as his D partner and have Hronek play with OEL. We still need a proper RHD for Hughes though, Bear is a 3rd pair guy. Try and trade for Peeke in Columbus, they got than young Jiricek guy that is NHL ready next year, Boqvist and the overpaid Gudbranson as RHD they can use and Blankenship who is also a rhd.
  12. I agree the NHL should NOT allow any more "free" buyouts, GM's need to learn to do a better job and not give in to player agents asking for longer term deals. A player like Myers is the prime example, we way overpaid for him and it hurt us. I would rather see Schenn make 6m than Myers for Fukk sakes! A much better player for a fraction of the cost and he has multiple Cup rings, what does Myers bring...a long neck and a long stick with rocks in his head given all his brutal giveaways!!! I would like to see contract lengths change, will probably never get them to lower the max term from 8 years. But if your coming off an ELC, the max term you should get is 5 yrs lets say. So, you can go ELC, 5yr contract then still hit a mega 8yr contract cause you'll be in your prime years. Enough of seeing guys 30 and over getting max term for high $$$ it rarely works out well, Canucks just always seem to sign guys that do NOT get LTIR'd to end those long term deals like many other players have for other NHL teams. Also, the league needs to STOP allowing NCAA players to burn an entire year of an ELC for playing like 10 games to end a season. That is the stupidest rule, especially if it happens to a player like McDonaugh who was a late round pick, done well in college but we all saw a hobey baker winner in Gaudette fizzle out and he was drafted earlier. Top end guys like Hughes, Boeser should be allowed to go to the AHL after college but burning a year off an ELC is a big loop hole the NHL needs to fix....just like ARizona taking on players who will never play again but using 30m towards the cap while doing it...they are an AHL franchise that does NOT deserve to have an NHL team but Bettman will never move them, if it was Vancouver the team would be in Houston or I read a report saying Atlanta was interested in a 3rd go around with an NHL team
  13. Trade Garland to Chicago for a 2nd round pick, they have like 6 of them over the next 2 drafts and they need to ice some NHL players. Garland would get tons of ice time, improve his stats most likely and Chicago could then move him at some point during his contract and retain to get a better return? Trade Myers to any team NOT on his 10 team No Trade list, hopefully that can be done July 2nd. I am sure he lists all the bottom feeders on his list so an easy dump to Arizona likely won't occur unless he waives. Worst case this guy is on the team till the TDL, then we retain 50% and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. If Pearson is healthy come start of the season, move him retained (1m) if need be for a mid round pick that clears over 2m as well. If you could get a team to take OEL do it, if he has a cap hit of 5m or under maybe a team would have interest? We would need to attach something nice with him or take back a contract that maybe ends a year or 2 sooner. Think we are stuck with this useless overpaid 7m+ D man....thanks Benning! Boeser- maybe a team will take him, I don't want to retain but if we do I hope it isn't more than 1m and if we retain 1m we better get at least a 2nd rounc pick back. Fans crap on Boeser and the media surely does but the guy has good hands and shouldn't be given away. I know he likely wants a fresh start but we can't just give in to a player regardless of what he has gone through injury and family wise imo. This is a business,Boeser is making stupid good $$$ and maybe he needs to really dedicate himself to his off season training this summer...I think Boeser needs to slim down, he iw over 200lbs but doesn't use his size so trim down to 190lbs and work on your acceleration/footspeed big time in the off season. If he wants to be traded then he has to put the hard work in, come to camp and play his best hockey. Then, by Christmas or TDL 2024 if he is playing better he might be easier to trade. I am curious if Canucks GM Alvin will approach both Hronek & Beauvillier at some point this off season to see what the cost to extend both would be. We all know Beau has been quite good since coming here, he can thank EP for that so maybe he wants to stay at a reasonable price? Hronek, well he is out till March 16th I believe I saw this morning so he will get a short sample of games with us this year...still boggles my mind to trade for a guy that is hurt and will have limited games with us to end the year and for the price we paid but hey....we needed a top 4 RHD enough of overplaying Myers, Bear is a bottom pair D on a decent team. Schenn, unsure if he will be brought back he is getting older but if the price and term is right I am all for it. Same goes for Burroughs, great depth D to have around but maybe Woo gets a chance at some NHL games next year. Sounds like he has done alright in the AHL this year. One last cap clearing trade before July 1st is the elephant in the room, JT Miller. I don't see him getting moved, but maybe a team makes an offer at the draft and yes it may be picks and or a player NOT playing C but Canucks GM could then flip part of the JT return for a C if that is what they want back in a deal. Wonder if Columbus would make a pitch for JT at the draft. If Peeke could come back in the deal and we land Livingstone from NCAA we could have a whole new RHD of our team next year (including Hronek). Ship out the way overpaid ultra useless Myers for free and maybe trade Bear's rights at the draft for say a 3rd if we did make a JT trade with a RHD coming back
  14. That has been Vancouver media for a long time, nothing new in regards to them. Tune out the always negative nancies on social media/radio etc and you save yourself from a ton of the negativity. Fans are very frustrated, imagine how the players feel! I am curious if GM Alvin attempts to sign Hronek to an extension this summer, or does he wait it out and at worst qualify Hronek in summer of 2024 for 5.5m or whatever his QO is? I am hoping for JT 2.0 type of return from Hronek, we need that to be the case. My main disappointment to this trade was 2 things: 1. We included our 2023 1st round pick, I would have be deadset on just the NYI 1st as the offer...it could be unprotected in 2024, so that is a big risk for us with the recent history of what happened to Ottawa and the Duchene trade. All the NYI need is for Sorokin to get a major injury next year and they could be a NON playoff team in a similar spot to Vancouver this season no?!? 2. Why did we make the trade in season? Hronek is hurt currently and if Detroit was willing to move him now while still kind of in a playoff race outside chance of making it they chose to gain some GREAT assets by moving Hronek and Bertuzzi to continue adding assets and becoming a better team long term not a short sighted short term thinking like Vancouver has had for a decade. Waiting till the draft, if the NYI pick was in 2023 we could have see who was available when the pick came up and then decide to trade for Hronek or make a draft selection...never know who slides at the draft! BUT, the team wants to show their ELITE players QH, EP, TD that they are making an addition this team has lacked for I don't know....forever in acquiring an top 4 RHD, so I am hopefully this works out well and maybe OEL and Hronek can be a passable 2nd pair. Now we just need a better RHD for Hughes to play with!
  15. Guy deserves to be elevated to current roster no!? Plays a simple game, with the durability issues of Dermott and others GB could be a solid option as a #7 to start next season maybe even make opening night? Hope we stay away from what many others on here have posted...going after 4-5m LHD, like hello we got 15m tied up in 2 LHD oh and we have no cap space either but ya lets overpay a UFA lhd and what play OEL and his 7m+ on the 3rd pair come on now! PK has been better since GB has been on team, unsure how much ice time he averages on the PK could be none could be a decent amount
  16. I don't get it...where is the appreciation you say: 1. We pay to buy those players merchandise 2. We pay to watch them play live 3. We pay to have cable to watch the team, even when they have sucked for a decade with ZERO direction Fans who have been die hard Canuck fans for the past decade nearly watching every game no matter how pathetic the team has been should NOT be asked where is the appreciation in my opinion. Players like EP, QH, TH are the main reasons why we continue watching the Canucks as we see hope for the future with Elite players like them on the team. I am not hopeful when I see FA signings like: Eriksson, Beagle, Myers etc. long term high cap hit contracts constructed in a way to make them buyout proof and unmoveable. We remain a cap strapped team and depending how much the cap goes up we are already over next years cap...why would any team pay fair value for a player like Myers (after SB) Garland, Boeser, JT, Pearson, OEL when 31 NHL teams know we need to dump salary to be compliant. Oh and that doesn't include us trying to add FA's that can try and help our dreadful PK for instance either. Canucks are making moves around the draft it is just a matter of who goes, how much we retain or do we offer a Garland for a Bjorkstand type of return (which would be pathetic considering he was the suppose prize piece in the OEL mind blowing trade the old regime decided to make in a major fukk up to try and save face. We slag JB for good fukking reason!!! He missed on top draft picks too don't forget, Hughes was a no brainer selection after Detroit's f**k up. Then you got the dreadful OJ and JV selections. The quick trading away of McCann, a 30+ goal scorer this season if you didn't know! So ya I think fans are appreciative of the players you mentioned when they open their wallets for team merchandise, specifically branded with their player name and # on top of going to live games, paying obsurd concession and parking prices. It is because of Hughes, Petey and Demko that many fans still watch and cheer for the team. Ain't no other reason to cheer for them other than being a lifetime Canucks fan like myself but many others called bandwagoners are the ones who throw jerseys and whine and bitch online when you should know your words mean sweet fukk all and the team does NOT give 2 shits about you if you watch or not. Do I think I could do a better job, fukking rights but not a chance in hell I ever become the GM cause I am not in that line of work but after 10 years of rinsing and repeating you would think whoever the GM is would realize most fans are sick of seeing the same thing happen. Being capped out this whole time was a massive failure by current and previous management. What other bottom feeder teams have done what Vancouver has....NONE! Canucks never took advantage of having some cap space to acquire higher round picks prospects/young NHL players from top end teams who need to clear space...that is not a recipe for guaranteed success either but it sure gives you more FLEXIBILITY while your teams sucks and is in the league basement!
  17. This...people love to blast mediea people like Drance, but you do all realize he does this because it draws attention to his work and people listen to him. He is over the top no doubt but we have sucked for 10 years and trading so many 1st and 2nd round picks while being a bottom feeder team has been done by how many NHL teams exactly........................... What I don't get about all you whiners is this...if you don't like a media personality why read their work or listen to them, you can simply CHOOSE NOT to listen or read his work...that doesn't affect you by avoiding it but it would affect Drance in this instance. He is who he is and gets paid to talk about the Canucks, 99.9% of people on here do NOT get paid to talke about the Canucks and you freely use your free time to post on this site AND watch the Canucks and listen to any radio/podcast/online articles about the team. Don't like certain peoples opinions, just fukking stop listening or reading to those PAID media peoples work, it is that fukking simple people! But let's keep whining and bitching...I don't agree with Drance and he is over the top but it is comical and I think he makes himself look like an idiot and he may be out of work at some point if not he is carving out his own niche to pay the bills...can't blame a guy for doing his thing to put food in his belly and a roof over his head.
  18. Suck in laffs!!! Stanley cup contenders my ass...multiple short handed goals against when the game is tied in the 3rd period against the all time worst PK in NHL history!?!? Ya okay onteribble suits, keep pumping thema s the 4th best odds to win the cup... Heck our Canucks have won a playoff round more recently them this so called gugernaut...how pathetic is that to be a laff fan knowing this!? This is a great time to be a Canuck fan, the team is playing well. Beating Toronto is as good as it gets for regular season success in Vancouver. Big congrats to the team and all the players AND man is it greta to have the REAL Thatcher Demko back!! Go Canucks Go, Fukk the laffs till the day I die!
  19. Canucks are allergice to cap space and extra draft picks, specifically 1st and 2nd rounders. Have we ever seen a bottom feeder trade so many 1st and 2nd rounders and still be a bottom feeder!?!?
  20. Easy question to answer in my entire life...toronto maple laffs
  21. did we make all our roster moves today meaning there is no way we can call up Rathbone for any meaningless games to end the regular season? If so that is too bad, he had so much promise and has a cannon for a shot...something we lack greatly from the back end, but if Canucks are not giving Rathbone any NHL games to end this year he is likely to hit waivers next fall barring some unreal pre season play from him...if we give him a chance to play nhl pre season games that is. Hope Jack stays healthy the rest of the year and contributes well for the baby Canucks!
  22. When does Livingstone and McDonaugh's season end in college? Any other College or Europe players that could be of interest to Vancouver that we may sign. Or is it CHL players can sign now and I am mixing that up with my previous Europe statement?
