  1. not much has been said, he was seen stretching out on the ice in gear recently in Vancouver. Believe a photo was posted somewhere on here, sure seems odd that we made that deal when he will have missed half the remeaining games since the trade. Fingers are crossed this guy plays well for us and signs a reasonable extension. BUT, you still need a good D partner for Hughes and Hronek (maybe OEL since he will be the one being carried)
  2. Team has been playing well lately, but we are NOT a playoff team and it would be nice to see some younger players get some more ice time and keep JT, EP, QH at reasonable numbers but not well over 20min as a F and 27-30 like QH. Hard to remove players from this lineup but give the College kid a game over the weekend. Does Studnicka have a future here...me thinks not with the good play of Aman and Dries, he is a depth guy at best who will go on waivers next fall before the season starts imo.
  3. I agree, he is hitting waivers next fall if they don't try to trade him in the off season
  4. Hope we don't rush Raty, still is young. I am sure he will get NHL games next year but he dosen't have to make it out of training camp imo or not with high expectations. See how he does for Abbotsford during the playoffs and I would be curious if Tocchet and or management may ask some players to either stay back all off season or come back quite early to get an early start on training. Maybe team brings in some specialty coaches like a former player like Oates as an example to come to Vancouver and work with X amount of players regarding certain areas of the game.
  5. I agree Bo got over paid, glad it wasn't us. We coul have used him but for around 7m at most imo. The key thing people are forgetting to mention when comparing stats is NYI are winning quite a bit since Bo arrived AND Barzal has been injured for most of that time. Take Pettersson away from Vancouver's lineup and do you honestly think Beau's stats are as good as they are?!? Chances are they would be lower without a healthy Petey
  6. Coyotes play a decent game have to give them credit for last night. Could we now see Bear get back in the lineup, maybe Studnicka in vs LA then maybe give the College kid his 1st NHL game on Sunday?
  7. Sadly, this is exactly what the Canucks owner wants...and he pays the bills so who knows if he is meddling. But with such an experienced JR here as President I don't think he would tolerate that he would have resigned on the spot if the owner tried to tell him what to do.
  8. Does anyone know if Tram and Kuzmenko know eachother or played together at some point??
  9. long shot of course but David Savard returned a 1st and a 3rd I believe to go to tampa and win the cup. Maybe tampa will offer their 2026 1st rounder for myers 75% retained in a 3 team trade...I joke I joke but if Savard, Chiarot can get 1sts if Myers somehow had a good season next year in a less pressure team to begin the year maybe some team goes nuts with a late 1st round pick offer to acquire a veteran RHD who has some size and doesn't back down from contact!?!? Likely NOT to happen tho in my opinion!
  10. Huge pass for me! We already traded a 1st round pick pick along with a 2nd round pick this coming draft. We suffered for Myers full contract it is almost done, don't go do another Loui E trade 2.0 but us add a quality winger in Boeser with a top 10 pick. I get clearing 12.6m in cap space. I would much rather KEEP a top 10 pick and Boeser. But am 100% on board moving Myers on July 2nd if we can to clear 6m and help a bottom cap team gain 6m in cap hit an a tradeable asset come TDL for a 1m salary pay out. Retain 50% maybe get a 3rd team to retain 25% more and get a late 1st-3rd pick back at the tdl for Myers...Right up Arizona's alley, they usually prefer players that don't play hockey just count against the cap tho!!!
  11. Nice having the opposition with AHL goaltending nightly not our team...and we are surprised our team is winning with Demko back, I am not! Yotes are tanking, pathetic organization and a bad look on Bettman and the NHL imo. Hope we blow out Arizona tonight 8-1 or something!
  12. I believe that was pre season while the locker rooms were still be finished. What a pathetic look for Bettman and the league but he will never move Arizona as long as he is the top dog...
  13. I am curious what the GM is going to do this off season with Hronek and Myers... Does he get the owner to pay Myers 5m on July 1st then move him for a pick to clear 6m in cap space...is a bottom feeder team willing to do that, I would hope so and personally I don't care if we got future considerations back it is the 6m in cap space we need sooner than later. Much better than trading JT and having a massive hole at #2C position. Hronek: trading for an injured D was mind boggling to be, should have waited till the draft to make that move. We would then know where the NYI pick stands if its a 2023 or 2024 1st round pick. Seems like lots of hockey insiders think Hronek is going to command 7-8m long term and due to the price we paid to acquire him and our clear need for a capable top 4 RHD the player and his agent might have Canucks GM backed into a corner...I don't agree with that, Hronek was having a good season for a different team and is now hurt. Could Canucks GM offer him a deal for say 3-6 years with a cap hit under 7m?? If Hronek thinks he is getting paid more than Hughes, well then we have him for next year and we can qualify him for another year but no way in hell do I want Hronek making more than Hughes or even close to Hughes as it stands now he hasn't played 1 game with us so who knows how Tocchet will deploy him...with Hughes or seperate to help the 2nd D pair. Now, the very unpopular topic...OEL, I am very curious what Canucks management has been discussing regarding him. Would they dare consider a buyout this summer to clear a ton of cap space this year, then try to add to the team this off season and deal with the couple high dead cap hears OEL will have down the road? Exactly what Minnesota did and they did it with 2 players yet have been a better team because of it... I do NOT want Canucks to buyout OEL this off season, 8 yrs of dead cap would suck, but if the team knows the cap will be going up a decent amount when the dead cap hit is at its highest I wonder if the team would operate cap wise at a total cap hit of what next year will be for the next few years if they have an improved D group and a quality #3C? Of course there is the trade JT at the draft...but why, we need a #2C and JT has been great for us since he got traded here...he may not be a PPG for his entire extension but how many players never come close to living up to their deals for the whole contract...Canucks seem to always get stuck with players who remain healthy, have NMC/NTC protection or have contracts laid out in a way that make them buyout proof! Personally for me, dump Myers on July 2nd after his SB is paid. Look at moving 1 of Garland/Boeser/Beau(contract related- 1 yr left at a good cap hit but what would an extension cost, we have younger guys we hope can take that leap into top 6 for less $, anyone playing with EP and Kuz is going to get points) only if the deal brings back something decent for the Canucks. Both those guys have played well under Tocchet. People whine about Boeser NOT scoring goals, last time I checked if a player still puts up points he is an asset to the team. Maybe Boeser hovers between 20-30G for his career but if he can add 40-50A to that total thats 60-80pt per season player...not too shabby, liked Boeser on the JT line I only wonder if someone like Podkolzin or Hoglander can steal the top 6 wing spot from Di Gusieppe or if Mikheyev is earmarked for that to start next year. Garland while playing down the lineup has been effective and has been putting up points and did well under Tocchet back in Arizona. Do the Canucks try to extend Hronek or Beau this off season or is Beau possibly available at the draft if we can net a later 1st round pick in return which isn't that big of an ask considering how well he has played since coming to Vancouver. Bear- depends if we get any NCAA FA RHD, if Bear wants to sign a fair deal sure but he is a bottom pair guy if we have a legit D core, also do Canucks bring Schenn back if he is a cheaper option albeit older but maybe if all the stars align a bottom pair of OEL and Schenn might work. That would of course mean we have dealt Myers and we got someone like a Gavrikov everyone on here seems to want us to try and sign for 2nd pair minutes with Hronek? If we bring Schenn back would we use him with Hughes most of the time? Hughes Schenn/Bear/Livingstone Gavrikov/OEL Hronek Brisebois/OEL/Rathbone Bear/Schenn/Livingstone Of course we have to move Myers to make any of the above D possible and we need Gavrikov to NOT sign with LA and NOT sign on July 1. So the hope for him is the Dan Millstein agent allure with all his other players we have assembled on the roster. I do not think Canucks are in cap hell, BUT I do think teams will know Canucks want to dump someone like a Myers and even with his SB paid a team may want an asset attached to him to take his cap hit on at the beginning of FA. What I could see playing out is Myers staying and getting moved at some point and no later than the TDL with retention but that wouldn't allow us to improve other areas of the team this off season, UNLESS...we do the dreaded buyout on OEL. Pearson wont be back to start the year but we still have to be cap compliant day 1 before players go on LTIR do we not? I would probably walk away from Dermott, injured so often and with cheaper contracts like Brisebois, Wolanin( if resigned) or say Rathbone making the team out of training cap we can have a depth 6-8 for uner 1m. Maybe Dermott signs a 1yr deal for less and competes for a roster spot at training camp? For the select couple that constantly mention JT to Carolina, with JK playing a lot better racking up points lately I highly doubt they consider moving a signed long term potential #2C going forward for under 5m straight up for a 30 yr old signed long term JT. If Carolina is going to pay a guy a lot into their 30s it will be with a known player they already have not a player they do NOT have on their team. Canucks only move JT if an offer comes in that is too good to refuse, don't see teams lining up with proper offers that would compensate us and help the team as soon as next year. Teams will want to send cap back and likely for players not nearly as good as JT so saving a few million while downgrading significantly makes no sense. If we weren't allergic to trading high picks or selection C's in the early rounds maybe we would have drafted a C with top 6 potential, but we haven't and Raty should NOT be rushed to try and be that guy. Let him cook in the A next year and be a call up, unless...he improves his foot speed over the summer and earns a spot at training camp next year but even then it would be a bottom 6 role and hopefully he plays C not wing!
  14. Gaud, he won the hobey baker award. Do not think Aidan is going to win that, then there is the C vs W. Gaud is more of a W now I think...
  15. If Canucks decide to trade JT I hope fans realize trading JT will NOT free up 8m in cap space...we took a player with a year term elft on his deal in Beau to trade HoBo where the Canucks retained 50% for the remainder of this year. So if Canucks trade JT, there will be salary coming back...likely a player with some term back in the deal, it won't be an 8m cap freeing trade in my opinion anyway!
  16. HoBo has been missing Barzal. What would Beau stats be without Pettersson... Beau could be a trade piece at the draft, sell high after playing him with Elite Pete...we free up 4.1m and get younger asset(s) back or in a position of weakness like C or RHD
  17. Think fans are overhyping this guy...don't get me wrong I would love for us to have found an NHL player with a 7th round pick but we have seen dominate College Forward fizzle in the NHL. McDonaugh is going to need time most likely to adjust to the pace of play and duration of season. He likely plays most of next season in the AHL but as we have seen before Canucks in order to guarantee this kid signs this year with us the team may then have to give him some NHL games and burn a year off the ELC. Which I do NOT like at all especially for this kid who was a 7th round pick, but that rule isn't changing and the player has control if they want so can play hard ball. Hope this kids eventually makes the NHL and can carve out some kind of NHL career but let's not put too much pressure on him...good thing we got tons of wingers so he has to surpass quite a few guys before he is a regular, outside maybe some NHL games to end this season...
  18. Canuck way is to finish strong every season...thinking the team will sit their stars and tank when they are millionaire paid athletes and coaches has always made me laugh! Go Canucks GO...should be a good game tonight!
  19. Signing a bunch of former Canucks comes with a lot of risk, Calgary seeing that now with Markstrom struggling. I laugh when people whine and bitch about JT and his 8m cap hit, be happy we do NOT have Huberdeau and his yet to be kicked in 10.5m contract....I am sure he has a bounce back season next year to at least ppg but right now it looks terrible
  20. Chill...don't kill the messenger. Was just mentioned as a player who has same agent as all our canuck russians. I have no clue if he actually played C full time or rarely!? I am not advocating we run out and do it, was just speculated. Canucks don't have cap flexibility to get a player like Barbashev we did that last summer with Mikheyev.
  21. This depends, if we sign Livingstone that means a bit less pressure for RHD. We would have Hronek, Myers and Livingstone, Canucks could bring Schenn or Burroughs back and Juulsen I think could be a younger version of Schenn...not as physical, not Cups obviously but he is significantly younger than Schenn and could be locked up to a Brisebois contract. Meaning is they can make the NHL roster next year thats super cheap D signed. I would wait and not rush to sign Bear, see how the College FA situation pans out and the draft. I would wait till after the draft or right after July 1st before signing Bear. If Canucks pay 5m then trade Myers on July 2nd we could then save say 4m and sign Bear to a 3yr 2m cap hit deal? I would prefer it be under 2m but with his arb rights the one thing in Vanccouver's favour is the apparent desire Bear had to be a Canuck...maybe he signs for cheap to remain here on say a 3 yr deal between 1.5m but under 2m cap hit deal?
  22. just need a team NOT on his 10 team NO trade list that has a free 6m in cap space available for a bottom pair rhd like Myers. I would dump him for nothing if we got 6m in cap relief, it ain't my 5m in SB $ that he gets July 1st. Cause Aqualini would want us to get an asset back after gifting Myers 5m on July 1.
