  1. Trade the 11th and a forward with term like Garland for 15th? Nashville gets a useful forward that could help their top 6 group out?
  2. If the Canucks wait till the 2024 TDL and retain 50% and also potentially get a 3rd team involved to retain even more then YES Myers does have trade value...won't net a premium return but this is what I prefer the Canucks do. Hold on to Myers, we suffered for 5 years, keep him till the TDL and flip him for a draft pick with retention or double retention. Move out: Beauvillier( replace with Hoglander) Trade 1 of Garland/Boeser. Consider the best offer you can obtain for JT Miller before his NTC kicks in, move him if you get a return you like, keep him if the offers are poor. He is still a very good player and can fill a void for us as we wait for younger prospects to develop and one day grab a prominent NHL role eventually.
  3. pipe dream if you think an undersized middle 6 winger nets a right handed D capable of playing top 4 minutes at a cap hit under 3m...dream on if you think Garland nets this type of return!
  4. 100% correct, unfortunately the Canucks owner meddles and kept a GM here far too long and he destroyed this team leaving them in a poor position. New GM made a knee jerk trade when acquiring Hronek when we were a hopeless team, instead of holding onto that additional 1st round pick and see who was available at the draft before pulling the trigger. But, ALL GM's make mistakes you just hope your team doesn't make them for over a decade with no end in sight!
  5. should've just drafted Korzak, team is alleergic to drafting D in the early rounds for some reason...why trade 3 assets for someone we could have just drafted! That is the Canuck way, spin your tires in the mud year after year...
  6. this trade won't happen, especially not Calgary adding a 2nd for a pending UFA. The D man we could have selected...oh going down memory lane is so much fun seeing all the what ifs the Canucks could of had if we had kept some draft picks or made the better player selection with said draft picks. We are in the boring off season stage, good thing summer is here so people can enjoy some fresh air and activity instead of worring about the next Canucks move to then be disappointed with...
  7. Having a great tournament no doub t but let's temper expectations...Canuck fans have been high on many prospects in the past to only be disappointet time after time. He is still young, great for his confidence but hope they let him run with the reigns as the #1G in Abbotsford next year and try to go deeper in the AHL playoffs.
  8. it was a low risk trade, i liked Lockwood and thought his speed could be of use on the PK along with his aggressive style. Can he carve that sort of style game out of his frame and make an NHL career of it...hard to say but should have a decent pro hockey career be it the AHL or overseas. This is a prime example of a russian who choses to flee back home instead of putting in the effort and work to try and succeed in the NHL, there were warning signs before hence the low acquisition cost. We took a flyer and it said back to Russia, time to move on we had far too many forwards anyway so this was inevitable after his poor showing after the trade. He didn't get a look in the top 6 but did he warrant that? If we were trying more for higher draft odds then he would have played more and Di Gusieppe less for example but our coach wasn't gifting ice time he wanted to see what players were hungry and put in the effort to finish offf a lost season
  9. Will he be playing C next year in College or staying as a RW, but seen him listed as C prior so what will his pro position be a RW or C? If he is a C then we have to consider taking him at #11. Big right shot top 6 potential C would be a great addition to our team. Could be a Jeff Carter or high end maybe a Getzlaf type?
  10. You think Hronek is going to get paid more than Hughes...I highly doubt that happens, if those are his contract demands then Hronek should be qualified and then traded barring him being as productive as Hughes. Fact: Canucks have long needed a top 4 RHD, we went and traded for one was the timing right hell no! This deal should have probably waited until the draft but our GM chose not to wait and made the deal. Now, we hope Hronek is 100% healthy starting next October and becomes an impact top 4 RHD for us. If that occurs then the trade looks decent just like the JT Miller trade from a few years ago. People whined and cried about that deal and it panned out well. Then we had the terrible OEL deal which is more recent and fresh in fans mind so they are uptight and bent out of shape in regards to the Hronek deal. Fact: No matter who the GM is or the decisions that person makes it will NEVER make Canuck fans 100% happy, there will always be the haters and whiners...it gets old if you feel that way so much then why cheer for the team if it is that frustrating...got nothing better to do with your life maybe? Anyways, this topic is pointless, we are in the off season, 5 months from now we can start to discuss Hronek as he starts a full NHL season with the Canucks and see how he transitions to play with our team and if it makes an impact, until then let's try not to have 15 Hronek and 25 JT whine/trade threads to fill the site with...
  11. The photo makes Hronek look short when beside Garland. I think Hronek is 6ft and garland is 5ft 6-8'', so to me the photo is misleading. But that may not be the intent of the photo from the poster just my guess
  12. NHL says they dont rig the draft lottery...Yet Chicago a team that went full rebuild trading young talent last draft get rewarded by winning #1 pick all while tanking purposely all year starting from the 2022 NHL draft...ya okay then! Hope Bedard walks to UFA as fast as he can and is true to his Canuck allegiance and comes to play in Vancouver to help win a Staney Cup...see you in 7-8yrs Bedard!?
  13. Too bad the boys lost, was surprised to see the team didn't continue with their goalie rotation and went with Martin again...seems to go against what the team leading up to the playoffs and then round 1. Would have been a good pressure game for Silovs to be in but he is young enough and should be that #1G next year for Abbotsford. Martin likely has a slight edge to being the back up next year, will have to see how his play is during the pre season. Hopefully some of the young Canuck prospects have a solid off season and come to camp challenging for an NHL spot out of the gate! Let the off season begin!
  14. wouldn't it be great if tonight's must win game was FREE so all Canuck fans could watch and cheer on the farm club!?!? It is too bad we don't have a bigger media outlet out west that would be willing to provide coverage of the games and broadcast them... Hoping for the best tonight, Go Canucks Go!!!
  15. Lots of people mention Danielson, he is a late birthday and just missed out on last years draft, will be 19 in September. Does this make any difference in projecting where he ends up further in his career? Has anyone done the comparison of a super young kid that is draft eligible and one like Danielson who is at least 6 months older than most of his compareables?
  16. Let's see if those last 2 players can bring a Stanley Cup to Vancouver...Whatever player puts the Canucks on his back and does that for this team gets Legendary status!!!
  17. Matthew Wood is listed as a lw/c on elite prospects. Has he played much C in this tournament or during his 1st year of Unniversity or has it primarily been on the wing? Seems like an intriguing prospect, played for Victoria in the BCHL last year and put up respectable stats in the NCAA this year. If we could play C would make him very appealing to me for the Canucks to draft him but if he is a winger...we have a ton of them so would prefer us draft a C or RHD but if management is sold on a guy like Wood then I am all for selecting him if he is available with our pick. Good Canadian kid with some size(unsure if he uses his size) or are we scared of a Virtanen 2.0? Any input on him would be great just saw Button's scouting report on him and looks impressive from that short sample size
  18. Fingers crossed! That is the hurdle with allowing players to go represent their National team. Sweden doesn't pay OEL his hefty contract Vancouver does. If the injury he sustained playing for Sweden impacted his play then the player should own up to it and keep his loyalty to the team paying him millions per year. Go play for Sweden when you retire, cause an injury that makes you look terrible playing in the NHL the following year at a high cap hit does not look good at all on the player!
  19. You think a veteran NHL D man with a partial NTC is going to waive to play for that sad sack franchise in a University arena?!? Arizona would likely be the top team he does NOT want to go to imo. Unless, he doesn't care about winning and plays out part of a year in the hopes of being dealt to a contender at the TDL but that will be happening regardless since its his last year of his contract and Canucks are better WITHOUT him and his 6m cap hit!
  20. Florida with 9m in cap space would be willing to tie 6m of that up to fill 1 bottom pair D spot...I think not unless there is retention or a deal happens at tdl
  21. Sadly Myers only has a 10 team list so will he list bottom feeders sure but he is NOT able to force the Canucks to trade him to a cup contender especially given his cap hit. Maybe we can send Myers to Seattle, they might not retain Soucy and if they acquire him in September for next to nothing maybe Francis will bite (one could only hope!)
  22. I'm sorry success in TO...what success is that exactly?!? Schenn left back to back stanley cup championship team Tampa Bay to be close to home where he lives in Kelowna, hence why he signed in Vancouver I would have to think. Do the Canucks offer him a contract, I am not sure... he is getting older but we could use his grit and leadership there is no doubt about that.
  23. posters seem to think Columbus is happy to give up a top 4RHD in a trade so easily this off season...sure if a team overpays they might but he is cost controlled. If Peeke is coming to Van then we should be sending them JT back. Keep the 1st round pick we already traded 1 1st rounder away this draft be foolish to trade another 1st...
