[GDT] Kings @ Canucks 7pm Oct 9th 2019 - Home Opener/Captain's Edition
Pickly replied to xereau's topic in Canucks Talk
Burkie keeps it so real -
There has been enough negativity and pessimism around here for far too long. Let’s see how the Canucks stand after 20 games before we panic.
-
The Blues were all but written off last January and look how that turned out. I ain’t worried if the Canucks take some time to gel.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers | Oct. 02, 2019
Pickly replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Like, Tim Schaller? Really? Sutter didn’t look like he was capable of being that shut down guy anymore last night. On a positive, the top 6 and D looked much better last night. The bottom 6 needs some changes ASAP. Too slow and ineffective. Get Baer and Gaudette into this lineup and put them on the 3rd line. Move Sutter to wing with Beagle. -

This. Baer and Gaud should be in the starting lineup. -
Wouldn’t be surprised if Benning is working the phone, looking to create a permanent spot for Gaud. IMO, the Canucks have no choice but to keep him.

Gaud better make this team

Jesus Christ I was making an indirect reference to the NFL and how that leagues primary issue of late is sexual assault. That’s a big deal. This off season the NHL’s biggest issues have been a guy doing coke and another getting drunk and flashing his boxers to a security guard. Never said he shouldn’t be disciplined And if the Leafs decide this issue is the deal breaker for handing him the C than so be it. Relax.

Boeser & Fantenberg are both in concussion protocol,
Pickly replied to alt kilgore's topic in Canucks Talk
So how long does this protocol take usually? -
I think Jake will go down as a player that had a ton of tools to be a successful top 10 pick in this league but never had it between the ears and ended up having a subpar career mired by what could have been. You can’t teach work ethic or drive. Everyone around here hates Milan Lucic but I’ll tell you all I played against him many years ago and he was a brutal skater with with a massive frame with a rocket of a shot. That was it. Little did I know this bender playing on the 3rd line in Delta would carve out a fantastic NHL career more or less based on perseverance and determination. I still have a bit of hope for Virtanen to pan out but unfortunately I highly doubt the organization is going to give him many more chances for him to prove himself.

What is the best city to play in in the NHL?
Pickly replied to hockeygod77's topic in General Hockey Discussion
I can imagine guys love playing in SoCal and New York. -
And when Roussel comes back his antics and pesky ness will be the icing on the cake.
-
Great thread. The Canucks added JT Miller and Mike Ferland to their top 6 who are both heavy, physical wingers along with Jordie Benn and 6’7 Tyler Myers on the backend. Like, what more can you ask for in an offseason of trying to beef up?
-
The Canucks will need a prime and healthy Sutter if they plan on making the playoffs. Aside from the obvious critique around here of him he’s extremely valuable when he’s healthy.
-
Demko looks poised and ready for this season. His positioning has been outstanding thus far.
-
SN one
-
His hit on Seabrook still makes me smile.
-
Haven’t seen a Canuck throw an open ice hit like that in a while. Ferland is just what the doctor ordered.
-
Lol vaping. I hope vape douches realize they look like idiots ‘blowing clouds.’ Most ridiculous habit I’ve ever seen.
-
Well if Jake doesn’t want to put in the work and continues to only show up for half the games this season his spot will eventually be taken by a younger, hungrier player who wants it more. It’s that simple.

[Rumor] Boeser Camp Eyeing 4 Year Deal Worth $28M
Pickly replied to buddyguy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
IMO worst case scenario is Boeser misses part of or all of camp. I doubt Jimbo and Co. want this to drag into the season and cause a distraction amongst the team especially with how high expectations are this season considering the moves made this off season. If I were a betting man, I think the sides come to a Timo Meier type deal around 7 mill per.
